This pub accommodation was brilliant, dog friendly, room was very spacious, and so clean, never stayed anywhere so clean!!! All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, the food was fantastic. Also you can catch the bus into Canterbury right across the road, dogs welcome on the bus, return fare was £11.00, but worth it not to have to worry about getting back to car park and being able to enjoy a lunch time tipple!!! The only negative was that this would seem to be the only pub/evening place to have a meal in the village. My husband and I will definitely be re visiting.

The staff here are excellent, all helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was one of the best I have had, the vegan option was a welcome bonus all fresh and well cooked as were the breakfasts ordered by the rest of the party we were with. We ate in one evening which was also a very enjoyable meal and we would have eaten there again had we not other plans. The staff welcomed our friends who joined us for breakfast and dinner though they did not stay.
The rooms, one of the reasons we stayed here is there are ground floor bedrooms although I think only one accessible room, are a little dated for some tastes. However there were very clean and had all that was needed and comfortable. In some ways it is to be applauded that perfectly serviceable bathrooms have not been replaced although for some the shower over the bath might be an issue. The rooms are over the car park so a little separate from the pub. There is access to the dining room from the grounds and a ramp for access to the bar area, so avoiding the stairs between the two areas.
A very enjoyable stay and we would certainly stay here again, well done to all.

We only stayed the one night, room was really nice, the staff were helpful and polite at all times, we ate in the pub in the evening and the food was really nice, the locals were all really friendly as well. Breakfast was very good too. And they made our small dog very welcome as well.

Disappointed after being recommended this place. Looks like it has gone downhill sadly. We had lunch, stayed a night and had breakfast.
We ordered ham egg chips, and chicken supreme tagliatelle. Both meals were OK but nothing special. Ham seemed more like it was out of a packet, though the skin on fries were really good.
The room was pleasant but odd. The ceiling was so steeply angled you couldn’t sit up in bed and it was very easy to bash your head! The Nespresso coffee machine was a nice touch, though the plug socket was so low down and near the table we couldn’t plug it in! Fortunately we had an extension lead so we managed - and the coffee was good.
Breakfast was terrible. Staff were not welcoming, we found our own table, no one explained what we helped ourselves to or what/how to order. And no one came to take our order…after about 20 minutes we went to find the waitress who was spending most of her time gazing out of the window.
We weren’t the only table who had to go to her to order, I saw at least 3 doing the same.
We overheard who we assumed was the duty manageress telling the waitress off for taking too many orders! They said the kitchen couldn’t cope as they already had 4 tickets!
The Manageress also admonished a young waiter for arriving late, saying loudly ‘what do you say?’ To him…he was confused by her question and she told him he should say sorry for being late! This was all done loudly in front of customers.
Our breakfast took ages to arrive, and the young waiter brought it. He was very cheery and asked us if we had all we needed.
My breakfast, the smoked salmon and scrambled egg was lovely. But my partner’s full English was not good. The sausage was burnt black on one side and only just cooked on the other side. Tomato was singed, fried egg undercooked. I shall attach a photo.
By this time we were very hungry and wanted to head off so we ate and left.
When I handed the key in there wasn’t much interest in finding out why I said the stay just OK. So I didn’t bother.

Really bad value for money on a weekend, rate rises from £75 to £130. We were stranded in Canterbury after Howfield Manor cancelled our booking so no choice. Expected a lot more for the money. Mouldy blinds that made the room smell like damp, we kept them up all night. The small and far away TV didn’t work, had to get someone to fix. No programmed heating system, just this fan heater that you had to turn on and then took 5 mins to heat up which meant in the morning we woke up to a 14 degree (monitored on the heater) room. Breakfast was fine, a vegetarian sausage option but no beans which is a first for a Full English. We let staff know that we didn’t think it was value for money, they spoke to management and then came back and just said nothing. Found that a bit rude. The staff who worked there were really friendly though. Value for money - just not on a Saturday!

Accomodation block is not connected to pub (which is a good thing). I had room 15 on 1st floor, which was big as was ensuite bathroom. Roof windows did not have any blinds which was an issue in the summer. Wifi was not good. Breakfast (included in the price) was great (I had the cooked breakfast) and there was a large choice but it took a while to arrive after ordering. Also the breakfast is advertised as being served from 0700 but the first slot you could have was 0715, which made me a bit late for my appointment nearby.

Just spent three nights at the Evenhill. The accommodation, food and staff were excellent. Its ideal for a visit to Canterbury. Cars are not allowed into Canterbury. The Evenhill is about three miles from the city. There is a bus stop outside the door with buses running into the bus station in Canterbury every 20 minutes. From the bus station you can get buses all over the area. It's a great way to travel around, esp if you have a pensioner bus pass! Canterbury is a great place for a city break. The cathedral is magnificent. Very glad we chose the Evenhill for our short break.

Visited The Evenhill for a Sunday carvery with my husband. The roast was delicious and so much choice with all the trimmings. The staff were very attentive, the chef carving the various meats was super and went above and beyond in assisting me, even carrying my plate to my table… a super lovely chap and a real credit to the business. We will definitely be returning.

Staying locally for a few days and our hosts have really recommended this for food. Walked in at 5.50pm and asked if we could get accommodated for food. Told no as they are fully booked. The place was empty apart from 4 people stood together at the bar. 75 minutes later there were only 11 people in occupying 5 tables-the place is massive! No one in the bar except me and my partner. I asked again about being served food-even to take out as there are just no options to get food locally . Staff friendly and polite but clearly the “sorry were fully booked” attitude has cost the business a good £40-50. It’s not like we would have had a table for long. Maybe reconsider your views on bookings and accommodating people depending on table booking times. You’ve lost custom and got this review when it could half been avoided
