Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After a horrendous camping experience at another site in East Sussex, we were recommended to give Nethergong a try. What can I say, we had the most brilliant weekend. This campsite is fantastic and is in such a lovely setting. Our children had the best time running free and especially loved pond dipping. We can’t wait to return next year!

4th time camping here and as usual had a great weekend. Showers and bathrooms are basic but well maintained with plenty of hot water and virtually no queues. Took a yoga class on Saturday morning in a private field that was excellent fun. Looking forward to next year

This campsite never disappoints! This was our 8th year visiting and we absolutely love it! We use to glamp…. Now we camp! The children and adults love it. Kitchen facilities are great. Outside shower is amazing and the toilets are clean. What more do you need! The cafe is great… the fresh pizzas are even better! Part of our group done the Yoga on the Saturday and loved it! Campfires and marshmallows in the evening, it was bliss. So many amazing memories made. Christine , Jed, Hannah and Dan are the best…. Always welcome us back with open arms …. (Most of the time! Haha) Jed came to the rescue with his tractor 🚜 and jump started my car as we were about the leave! Nethergong 2023 you have been amazing. See you next year. ❤️🏕️🩷

We stayed at Nethergong for a camping trip. We were allocated a very generous pitch, with the comfort of trees but also the freedom of an open field, that was fairly convenient in relation to the toilet and shower facilities. The ground was great for the tent pegs. The campsite has a beautiful landscape and is bigger than you initially expect, making it great for walks. The lake in the middle of the site was very popular and appreciated by fishers and children alike. The location is ideal for days out, with a huge variety of beaches, villages, and pubs, while maintaining a rural sense of seclusion on the site itself. Shopping at the unbelievably airport-sized Sainsbury’s nearby can also be counted as a day out, in my opinion. The real strength of this site, however, is the variety of on-site activities offered. Our group loved the fishing, bushcraft, and yoga classes, and it really made our stay there. Additionally, the Café and food options (really great pizza!) on certain weeknights were amazing. Unfortunately, the only letdown of this campsite is the state of the shower facilities. Each member of our party seemed to have different issues everyday- whether it was not draining, freezing, boiling, or dirty- there was never a great experience with the showers. The only exception to this was the open-air shower, which surprisingly turned out to be the best quality. Overall, the stay at Nethergong was very good, especially for families and groups. Would recommend.

Went on a recommendation from a friend. We stayed for 2 nights & wish we could've stayed longer! What a great little gem of a place only half an hour drive from me! The staff/owners where really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The on site shop was really affordable and the surrounding area is full of wildlife so I was in my element 😁 🏕 📸 the boating lake was lovely and we hired a firepit & bought logs which where delivered to us from a really friendly guy on his little trailer ☺ the shower blocks where good and plenty of space for washing up. There was also a fridge/freezer to keep your stuff cold plus to my daughters amazement an are to charge gadgets 😁 Dog friendly as well ☺ I cannot fault this place so 5 stars and I don't always give 5 but we loved this place and will be back! 🏕 🔥 📸 🐦 🦉 🐮 🐶

Camping at its best. Back to basics but in a beautiful setting with wonderful people. Private pitches or open field if you prefer. Mix of clamping in bell tents or shepherd huts and vintage caravans alongside your own tents. Lots to see and do for those who want to stay on site or those who want to venture afield. Good pubs nearby. Pizza made on site. Great cafe for coffees and pastries. Been coming for 8 years multiple times a year. Love it.

We’ve just had a lovely weekend break camping at Nethergong. My husband and I drove down and set up from 1pm while the twins were at school then drove to the train station to meet them later. Our friends arrived around 5pm. We took full advantage of the late check out on Sunday which was a game changer! We were the only ones left on the campsite but it was nice to have the extra time to make the most of the weekend. It wasn’t much money to take advantage of this. We had a leisurely bbq lunch before leaving. Pizzas on Friday was delicious as always and showers were nice and hot. We also went on the row boats for a bit of fun on Saturday morning. Saturday lunchtime we drove up to Whitstable (dogs are allowed on this beach during May and September) and really nice fish and chips from the forge (the green hut). Nethergong is a perfect stay anytime!

We LOVE Nethergong. We've been camping for years, both with kids and without, and have never found another site quite like it. Our children (y1 and pre school) absolutely love it, a truly magical place we'll return to forever. As well as camping we've tried out the shepherd's huts and caravan, both of which we loved.
