Well this was our first time at this site and what a pleasant surprise. Great toilet facilities all very well maintained and kept spotless. We had an electric hard standing pitch which drained well with the ground good for awning pegs.
This site is a very quiet site with little noise,so if your intending to have a rowdy time go elsewhere. Layer noise is not tolerated.
BBQS are allowed and bricks are provided to keep the ground from burning.
The views were great we had a pitch that looked over the river Frome lots of wildlife, bowls, buzzards, heron and of course sheep.
The location is great 10mins from monkey world and the tank museum.
Wareham, Lulworth, and Durdle for are within easy reach by car, and there are plenty of roads to cycle around.

All in all a well run clean site we will return.

Thanks Whitemead staff we had a great time.

We stayed at Whitemead for the first time on the 4th and 5th September for our first ever caravan holiday. On arrival the owner Roy met us and despite a handful of negative reviews about his attitude he was polite and respectful right from the start. After 28 years as a Prison Officer I feel I am a pretty good judge of character and we had no issues at all.
He took time out to explain to us about the showers , layout, times that showers are closed for cleaning due to covid restrictions etc. We were then escorted to our parking/ hook up point.
Again he was polite and very helpful. I think if you actually take some time to talk to him you will realise he is a decent chap. The shower block and toilets were the cleanest I have ever set foot it. Absolutely spotless regardless of time I used them. I agree with some comments regarding the times they are closed for cleaning but hopefully this will change after this covid nightmare. The site is very close to 2 great pubs for food , the Ship Inn and the Black bear, the latter being great for Saturday morning breakfasts. Also a short drive to the magnificent jurassic coast.
There is Wool station nearby and yes you do hear the odd train but nothing like some of the comments on here. We did not hear any noise at all at night from the other very considerate campers.
Overall a very clean and efficiently run site and we will definitely be back. A very pleasant experience.
Thankyou.
Steve and Kirsty

This is an amazing camp site, very well kept by the owners and their staff. Roy the owner remembers everyone’s names, to make it more personal for you. Nothing is too much for them.
Camp site is covered by cameras and the gates are locked to keep your caravan tent etc safe.

The train station is a couple of minutes walk and you can catch the train to Weymouth or Poole easy. So yes you hear trains, and at times have to wait to cross the track along the road, but for children, that can be quite fun.

For your 4 legged friends there are a couple of fields close to walk them around ( please check to make sure there are no sheep etc in them, and close the gates. The river Frome flows through the fields and the water is lovely and clear we let our son practice his paddle board in there. The odd duck visits.

There are a few pubs within walking distance. The Ship is across the bridge over the rail track and your there. Lovely food, booking is recommended and your 4 legged friend is welcome, ask for your own bowl of water if you can’t see one. The garden is lovely too.
The Black Bear is along by the Spar shop. Again very friendly preferred food from the other pub.
Then along the road a bit more some of it has no footpath is the Seven Stars. Again very nice it has a small children’s play area, pool table and their own dog pottering around the bar, so again 4 legs are allowed.

I haven’t been to the tank museum or monkey world yet. Which are both very close to the site.
This is a lovely site to use as a base to travel around the area.
The local shops are very useful, butchers bakers chemists, hardware store, and a charity shop. There is a church over the other side of the railway by the Ship in.

100% I would recommend this site to anyone.

Absolute pleasure to be back at one of the best sites I have visited in all of my years. We have been camping at Whitemead for 7 years plus, never needed to look anywhere else.
The staff are always happy, friendly and polite.
The site is spotless, lawns mowed on a regular basis, rubbish bins promptly emptied during the day.
I am really pleased that the site has been able to open again and I am sure that the staff have worked tirelessly to risk assess all areas. I hope that visitors to the site respect this and follow the guidelines set out as it all works really well.
Site amenities are always clean and closed at regular intervals for deep cleaning.
To sum up, Whitemead Caravan Park is a lovely welcoming Caravan/Camping Site where the staff are at all times professional.
I would recommend this site.

This was our first time staying at a campsite and testing out our campervan that we recently inherited. We booked a grass pitch with electric hook up and paid extra for an awning pitch. On arrival we were met at the gate, shown to our pitch and explained the new Covid-19 rule changes and cleaning times of the facilities. The pitch itself was close to the toilets which was great, it was a little slopped so we did have to use our chocks. The facilities were immaculately clean with various sinks and cubicles cornered off to allow social distancing. The only downside was that the shower in the ladies that I used was a push button which was a bit annoying as had to press it every 30 seconds to keep the shower going. Apart from that we had a great time and would highly recommend. We visited Lulworth Cove and Swanage while we stayed.

We’ve been camping for over 12 years and this is one of the nicest campsites we’ve stayed at.

The staff are really friendly, polite and helpful and never stop attending to the site to keep it neat and tidy. Small park on the site for younger children too. Facilities are very clean and COVID aware with hand sanitisers on entry to the toilets/showers and washing facilities. Key code entry onto the site too so felt very secure.

Nice flat site next to a South Western railway station with Lulworth Cove, Tank Museum, Monkey World and Wareham all nearby. We travelled by car to Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth which are all not that far away.

I would definitely recommend this site if you want to travel around Dorset to see the beautiful places as it’s location is perfect and the campsite is really well maintained and a genuinely nice play to stay. Thank you Whitemead!

Stayed bank holiday week, pitch 101 just brilliant, close to pubs and well situated for visiting surrounding areas and attractions, very welcoming staff, facilities spotlessly clean and COVID conditions in place, the addition of electric gates ensures your caravan, motor home or tent is safe, very well maintained site, nothing too much trouble for the staff. Will be staying again very soon.

Thank you to Roy and Jill and all the staff

This is by far the best site we have ever had the pleasure to stay at, and we have stayed at a few over the last 30yrs.
It's friendly and welcoming, spotlessly clean, great pitches, security is good , a very well run site.
We are seasonal and spend all our weekends and holidays at Whitemead and absolutely love it. Would never consider staying anywhere else.

Whitemead, is a small, attractive and tidy site. During Covid-19, great care was taken by the staff to make sure everything was cleaned and indeed the place was spotless. The shower block was lovely - very clean with spacious shower cubicles. Whitemead is a quiet site, with only the sounds of the traffic and trains passing by, but this is muted by the trees and hedges around. The Seven Stars restaurant/pub is a short drive away, and Wool train station is a five minute walk, as are the town and local pubs. The 'Velo' Coffee Lounge (open Thursday-Sunday) is down the lane and serves really good coffee. We will return to Whitemead a couple of times next year.

My husband and I stayed here for a week, our first camping trip together. The staff are lovely, so friendly and eager to help with recommendations to help you make the most of your visit. Facilities on site were very good, bathrooms clean and I liked the extra changing area in the private shower cubicles. The washing up room was well laid out, with a washing machine and dryer and separate sinks for handwashing clothes as well as sinks for washing up. The shop on site was useful, and there was a nice kids playground ideal for younger children, and a games room with table football, darts, pool table and also boxed games and books to borrow. The site was peaceful, lots of birds, and sheep in the neighbouring field. Wool village is very pretty, and there are three pubs, a cafe, a couple of mini-markets and a petrol station. The railway station is close by too, with local buses running through Wool village.
Highly recommended, we will definitely return.

We walked but no pavement for most of the way and its a fast and busy road. Ok if youre used to walking and are sensible. Wouldn't take young children on that road.
