Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived in Sulina out of season, to explore the delta. Dragos made us feel very welcome and went out of his way to help us explore the Danube, and later cooked us one of the best tasting fish we've ever had, at his recommendation. It was excellent to meet such friendly people, and it really made our adventure all the more special. If you visit, phone ahead and order the turbot fish! You won't be disappointed. Thank you for all you did for us, Dragos.

The overall picture presented on the site, attracted us. I booked an apartment and we were accommodated at the attic, with view to the Danube. Unfortunately, to get there you have to climb some wood stairs, very beautiful although, but totally unventilated. Because of the heat, the smell was almost unbearable, do not understand why the windows were fixed, could not be opened - probably for being cheaper.
When booking we found out that we have to reserve half board accommodation because it was peak season. Although I mentioned that we travel with two children, 11 and 15 years old, and we do not need for adult portions, we could not negotiate this.
We was greeted on the first evening, at the dinner, by the owner, and ask if everything is ok. I mentioned that we need a solution to dry the beach clothes (the attic has no balcony), and although we were told that he will find a solution, has not done anything. I raised again the question of dinner, too rich for us, hoping that he will offer the choice to have part of the food at lunch instead of dinner. The only solution offered was: "if it's too much, then you should not eat everything."
I asked the owner to make a recommendation for a boatman to take us to the Danube channels and we mistake trusting him. Daniel, the boatman has modified the agreed route, perhaps because he was hurrying, losing the opportunity to see too many beauties offered by the Danube Delta. Our suggestion for Dragos, owner of the guesthouse, is to be more careful with those he recommends. I think it's more important to him to have happy customers than to cash a commission from a particular provider for someone who will leave unsatisfied.
Worth noting also some positive aspects:
1. almost every evening on the terrace was live folk music, the singer created a special atmosphere, at least for us, as fans of such genre;
2. waitresses, including employer wife were attentive to our requests, absolutely helped us whenever we requested;
3. owner helped us after booking with useful information on how we can reach Sulina from Tulcea by boat.
With more attention to detail and customer requirements, and with minimal investment, it was very easy for the owner to turn a partially satisfied customer into one that leave very satisfied and recommend you to others. As far as we are concerned, buying a clothes dryer (which cost no more than EUR 5), a more suitable suggestion for a competent boatman and allowing us to enjoy dishes both at lunch and dinner, given the amount to be spent, would have turned this experience into a special one.

I spent a week in Perla and I was amazed by the warm hospitality, great ambiance. I loved the local cuisine - it is so so delicious.
I loved the personnel- everyone was so nice and always in service to guests.
And the view is outstanding - Danube, sunrises and sunsets not to forget ever.
I am going back to Perla very soon again.

The hotel is clean, rooms are fairly big and have pretty much all desired amenities. On my trip the staff was busy and not exceedingly friendly but they got things done properly. The restaurant is ok-ish. Same dish tasted differently on 2 occasions and you can find better food elsewhere, but if you're lazy, it's good. I really liked listening to live music while drinking wine on the danube waterfront. All in all, a pleasant experience i'd be willing to repeat.

When I was with my family for the first time in Sulina, I booked Pensiunea Perla on net without having too many details.
I never regretted the choice and I have recommended to my friends to go there.
highly recommend Perla Sulina because here you can find a good accommodation, good food and the wonderful staff.
(I was here twice - Aug 2011 and Aug 2014)

Nice room with view over the water - clean, good wifi. Prices relatively high for Romania, but no higher than scarier place down the road. Restaurant overlooking the water, and balconies in some of the rooms

I ate at their restaurant with my family and the food was very good ( I ate a salad with some very tasty garden tomatoes, I also recommend the fish ) and the service was just right. I highly recommend! 🙂

Consider this is Sulina - sadly, a decaying town. As such, you need to lower your expectations: in the photos, this venue looks fresh and picturesque, but it doesn't feel like that in reality.

I mean, the place is welcoming and clean; rooms are spacious and comfortable and the AC is actually working - but there's a lot of wear and tear.

Food is good but missing that magic touch of traditional local fish dishes - there's no escape from that average restaurant feel of "it's the customer's money we're after, not that interested in the customer experience we're offering".

Staff is helpful and polite, but don't really do anything to create a particular vibe for this particular venue. Like it's just a place to eat and sleep, not a place to tell your friends about if they were to venture at the edge of the map.

All in all, with the right mindset, Perla might be one of the best options in Sulina: works very well as a B&B and/or restaurant; it's on the riverfront, close to all the boats offering rides on the Danube, the taxis to take you to the beach and some grocery stores to buy water and fruits.

It's worth checking it out when planning a getaway in the splendid Danube Delta.
