I had a great time and i will visit there again for sure. The employee were very kind and i liked riding a bicycle especially. They have several courses like hiking and village tourIng. Very satisfied with what they served.
We had two connecting rooms, so an entire bungalow and a pool only for us. We are a family of 5, that was perfect. The view is amazing from the balcony, from the pool also. Professional and very kind staff. They will advise you for the possible trips around. We did one, that was fantastic! It really worth to visit Mai Chau area and staying at the ecolodge is a super experience.
Location is unbeatable in the middle of valley. Room was on the rustic side but functional (make sure to take mosquito repellent). Room has a charming balcon overlooking the rice field and have a small private pool (water too cold though). Restaurant has a more Vietnamese food oriented menu and its very good. Staff was friendly and attentive. Enjoyed riding bicycle, provided for free by the lodge, around the valley. Only concern was the transportation service provided by the lodge: driving by driver was hazardous at times.
Location is great and staff is friendly. However, as the place is only open during the weekend because of covid it is clearly in need of staff. The Pool and pool area are dirty, the menu poor (12 options and the same for lunch and dinner..including one not available option (chicken?). Hardly any vegetarian options. Loud karaoke and other noisy guests made this not the relaxing place we were looking for. Toilets did not work and shower in a wooden bath is just a hazard! While the outdoor shower is a great idea it would also be smart to think about a fence so other guest do not enjoy the view. I'm sure people do their best but for this price you can do better.
Check-in at the Ecolodge was warm and we were quickly in our lovely lodge (303) overlooking the rice paddies. It had a large double bed and single and all expected amenities although my wife did say a shelf under the mirror in the bathroom would have been useful. So peaceful. After lunch we enjoyed a relaxed walk with our guide around the paddies and villages. The scheduled dinner and performance by the local artists was excellent and the perfect finish to a great day. Next day (7th March) we travelled to outlying villages to experience local life and again a relaxed peaceful walk with a stop at a Homestay for tea before returning to the Ecolodge for lunch. Enjoying lunch we were suddenly aware of Uniforms waving paper to find we were technically locked in for 14 days. So we became aware of the infamous Vietnam Airlines flight 54 into Hanoi on the 2nd March and the Vietnamese woman who carried the virus back from London having done the European fashion circuit and who ultimately affected 23000 people as they traced all 201 passengers who had travelled to most of the tourist centres in Northern and Central Vietnam. Unfortunately 2 ladies on the plane had checked out of the Ecolodge as we checked in. We could have been locked-in in a lot worse places as some were and so we settled down to relax by the pool and enjoy the food and drink and have our temperatures taken on a regular basis. The management and staff were fantastic and looked after us so well. Not only were we confined but also the staff who could see their homes across the fields and who had young families. Suddenly on the evening of the 11th we were all called from the restaurant and with a lot of officialdom it was announced we were released as the 2 ladies had proved negative and none of us had symptoms. We loved Mai Chau and the Ecolodge and will return to enjoy the serenity and hospitality again one day. The restaurant and service were excellent throughout with a great menu. Irrespective of the lock-in we have fond memories. Sadly we understand they were locked-in again the day after we left.…
