Located in Highlands of Vietnam this hotel focuses on being a eco-friendly and self sustaining lodge. From their own gardens and the food that is produced to the rooms and how things are maintained this hotel is a welcome break from the insanity of Hanoi.

The rooms are situated as little lodges and are just two to a pod. We were in room 302 which overlooked the valley and the tranquility of the place just washes over you. The beds are very comfortable, the food is excellent and the pool is great. The only thing that sort of wrecked the mood was when the karaoke starting at 5:30 in the afternoon and carried on until 11 pm at one of the neighboring bars located somewhere near the lodge. Because it is situated in the valley any and all sound just travels across the valley. Thankfully, it was shut down by the local constabulary at 11 when I guess enough complaints came flooding into their offices and they sent someone to shut it down. That was the only low point and certainly not the lodges fault.

I absolutely recommend this place to anyone who is looking to get some true piece and quiet away from Hanoi. Truly beautiful. They have bicycles so you can go biking all around to the different little villages, do some sightseeing and just completely chill out. Everyone is friendly and what is really nice is as you pass by all the children shout out hellos to you. It brings a smile to your face for sure.

Have a great trip and a great visit.

Bon Voyage'!

Spent 3 fantastic nights at the lodge! It’s an ecolodge so don’t expect a luxury resort, but they have everything one can need including a pool, a spa (heard from other guests the massages were firm, yet relaxing), a restaurant, a nightly dance show (a different program every night I was there) & Wi-Fi throughout.

Room was large, clean and well appointed with a comfortable bed (firm like most hotels in Asia, but not the firmest bed I’ve encountered), a large walk-in shower (no tub, but think that varies by room), an outdoor shower, usual toiletries, & complimentary water, fruit and rice wine. No tv in the room, but Wi-Fi is sufficient for streaming if needed. Mild annoyance: water pressure in the shower was a little low, whereas the outdoor shower was intense. Had to go outside to rinse my hair or it would have taken a long while.

The food at the restaurant was delicious, portions were quite large & prices were reasonable. There are a couple nearby villages (under half mile) that are easily walkable, but the roads have no street lights, so unless you have transportation, you’re stuck there after the sun sets. They certainly could have set high food prices but they didn’t, so that’s a big plus. The included breakfast had multiple Vietnamese and western options.

Tours & activities are available. I opted for a full day bike tour that covered about 21 miles and included a tasty lunch at a local homestay. My guide, Vung, was friendly and being local, was a font of knowledgeable and information. He even found a sugarcane juice stand to end the 7+ hour tour. In hindsight, I should have gone with the half day tour, but it was at a leisurely pace and mostly flat, but if you’re not used to that much biking, the half day option would be better.

All in all, the Mai Chau Ecolodge is a great option with a friendly and accommodating staff if you want some time away from Hanoi for R&R.

After the hustle and bussle of Hanoi it was lovely to spend 2 days at the Ecolodge and relax among the rice fields. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room overlooked the rice fields and was clean, comfortable and a good size. We were grateful that the staff delivered and collected our bags to the room because of the different levels. Complementary tea/coffee/water was much appreciated after a day of walking and cycling. We visited the spa and had a massage which was very good and reasonably priced-would recommend. Breakfast and dinner were good. We would agree that the bikes could do with a bit of a service, but overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Ecolodge and would visit again.

Cannot fault the friendly welcome or very helpful staff who arrange for your luggage to be taken from the car park to your room. In fact, all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
The rooms we had were very spacious and offered a great view across the rice paddies. We took up the offer of using the bikes the lodge offers for a ride around. The bikes are ok but would benefit from a services.
Drinks poolside in the afternoon enjoyable and relaxing, enough lounges in the shade or sun for everyone.
Restaurant dinner menu does offer a good selection, however for the prices they charge the meals are very bland and lacking flavour. Breakfast is ok, again there is a good selection available. They do, do great poached eggs.

Location is great and staff is friendly. However, as the place is only open during the weekend because of covid it is clearly in need of staff. The Pool and pool area are dirty, the menu poor (12 options and the same for lunch and dinner..including one not available option (chicken?). Hardly any vegetarian options.
Loud karaoke and other noisy guests made this not the relaxing place we were looking for. Toilets did not work and shower in a wooden bath is just a hazard! While the outdoor shower is a great idea it would also be smart to think
about a fence so other guest do not enjoy
the view.
I'm sure people do their best but for this price you can do better.

We spent a very pleasant three days here in one of the semi-detached lodges. Our lodge was very comfortable and had air con and a fan. There was a mosquito net over the bed which we did not need due to the time of year, the air con and the electric mosi killer which we had brought with us. Hanging space for clothes was poor. There was a lovely view from the lodge terrace over the paddy fields to the hills. The paths to the lodges have steps and are quite steep and access to the restaurant is by flight of stairs. We had to be quite agile to get in and out of the high sided bath which 'houses' the shower and rain shower. All the staff were really helpful. Breakfast was completely buffet style with freshly prepared hot items. Dinner was good too. We had some lovely walks through the surrounding villages.

We booked 2 nights here to celebrate the end of our trip to Vietnamm. First of all, the booking experience wasn't easy (after the website didn't work we had to message the hotel via Facebook in order to make a reservation). We arrived to the hotel and had to carry our luggage half way up the hill with a staff member laughing about the situation from the side. The room itself wasn't what we expected- although it's rather big and the bed is comfortable, the sheets are old and the bathroom had a heavy moldy smell to it. We asked to change rooms and stayed there for the first night, but after a pricey dinner and not so good breakfast decided to leave one day before our original plan.

On a good note, the receptionist at the second day was helpful and friendly as well as the staff in the restaurant itself.

The lodge is located on an elevation overlooking very picturesque rice fields and the views from the balcony - or from the bed - are magic. The room is large, bungalow style, with a private garden and outdoor shower and a bathroom with timber bath. All nice, wonderful and romantic, until we tried to fill the bath and found out that we had no hot water. We alerted reception who sent an army of fixers, who opened the ceiling and subsequently flooded the place. They kept at it till 9pm, when they finally gave up - still not hot water. In the morning the manager apologized profusely and offered us a small present to recompense.
There is a large pool which is wonderful and clean. At night there is a complimentary show with traditional dances. Breakfast is buffet style, but could be a lot better.
Mai Chau Ecolodge is a lovely place which has gone through tough Covid times, so I understand the problems getting it back into shape. I wish them all the very best !

What an amazing place to find ourselves in on a surprise getaway. Our private villa had a view of the rice fields, was stocked with fresh fruit, and we were able to explore the entire area on foot. The restaurant was pretty good, and the entire experience was romantic and delightful.

Our return for our two night stay was a pilgrimmage having been locked down here in March 2020 due to Covid on our original visit. Some of the same staff were still there and we laughed over the photos we brought. However the return was an anticlimax in some ways as the demographic had changed. Previously we were couples joined by adversity whereas the demographic had changed to large invasive family groups and families. However the resort remains the same with the amazing views over the rice fields albeit a bit smoggy but hot during our stay. We had room 310 with lovely views and all the expected amenities. We had forgotten the large wooden laminated bath with shower over as well as outside shower. Our agent had booked us full board and the food was lovely albeit we cut the odd course as too much. As always the staff made the difference and provided attentive and personable service throughout. We also enjoyed colourful local dance presentations on both nights which made for a memorable stay. The resort has bikes and is well placed to walk around the adjacent rice fields and villages albeit we still got lost even with the map Reception provided.
