Have stayed at this hotel many times but sadly this experience was far from the best. Bathroom freezing with ice cold towel rail and no hot water in the shower. Reported to reception who apologised and said maintenance would sort the following day. Returning to the hotel after being out all day was told it was all sorted. It wasn’t bathroom still freezing so we moved room. Subsequent room had really poor WiFi and coffee machine didn’t work. All food including breakfast and dinner was very poor, with little taste and quality lacking in favour of quantity. Such a shame as this hotel used to be so good. Sadly no more . Hope it gets back to a good standard as guests won’t tolerate this shoddy service.

Dear Valued Guest Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us, I was very sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay on this occasion. I have passed all of your comments to our relevant heads of department. We have had an unexpected issue with our biomass boiler which has now been rectified and I apologies that this impacted on your stay. We hope that you would afford us the chance to stay with us again in the near future.

Second time visiting this fabulous hotel, this time with family for our son’s 40th birthday. We all had a fantastic time. Everyone agreed that the Sunday lunch is the best we’ve ever had. Lovely, friendly staff. Will definitely return as soon as possible.

Have wanted to visit the Derwent Manor for a long time and was delighted to discover they had cottages, so booked one for a week in November. What an utter disappointment it turned out to be. So much so, that we left after 3 nights. So, what went wrong? Well let's start with their heating system. Totally inadequate, inefficient and kept breaking down. The row of fan heaters behind reception should have given us a hint on arrival! After notifying them, we were given 2 oil radiators for the living area and there was a fan heater in the wardrobe we used for the bedroom. We were later told by a staff member that the heating issue has been ongoing for several months. The straw that broke the camels back, and initiated our early departure, was on the morning of day 3 there was no hot water. Again, apologies all round, but by this time we'd had enough. Along with the above issues, we were not impressed with this recently (within the past month we were told) refurbished cottage. The kitchen window had no blind, despite fittings being in place, so no privacy, especially when dark. Obviously it had not occurred to anyone to fit one. We asked about it, and were told one would be ordered, but may not be here by time we were due to leave. The lighting was "boutique" ie: totally useless and inadequate. In the living area we had a huge table, over which hung a piece of driftwood with bare bulbs hanging from it. Not only was it dangerous (I cracked my head on the end of it) but sitting at table with lights on, they were directly in your eyeline. The whole contraption needs to be at least 6 inches higher. The other lamp in living area had leaf like fronds attached, one of which I found in the cupboard below. After nearly taking my eye out on one of the other 3, I understood why, so they also were removed and put in the cupboard for the duration of our stay. This part of the living area housed the only usable mirror in the cottage with a nearby socket so I could dry my hair and see what I was doing, hence the need to use it. (Neither of the 2 bedrooms had a mirror.)As I said, Boutique. The other requisite of boutique seemed to be the need for as much black paint to be used as possible, also not helping with the lighting. I will also add that both bedrooms had wardrobes that are not deep enough to accommodate standard size hangers without them being at an angle. Back to the living area: A state of the art TV. You could only watch catch up on it as Live broadcasts just scrambled. The door into the accommodation had a gap below it, that you would not accept in your own house. Any heat just flew out, and cold raced in. In the bathroom, there is a towel rail that has obviously never worked, so that room was particularly cold, and a leaking shower. If this cottage really has been refurbished, then I suggest the owner ask for a refund. You would most definitely not accept this if it were your own property. I would also change the interior design company. I also strongly suggest that the owner actually stays in the cottage for a couple of nights to experience the shortcomings for themselves before replying to this review. I have given 2 star rating because the bed was very comfortable and the food in both restaurants was excellent and reasonably priced.

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with ourselves in one of our newly renovated boutique cottages, I was very sorry that you encountered Intermitted heating issues, this was due to a fault with our biomass boiler and was totally out of our control and as it was particulalry cold outside this impacted even more on your comfort, for which I apologise for. I was very sorry to learn that you did not like the style of the cottage and its decor. Your valued feedback will be used to help us improve our product for all of our future guests.

Spa is in need of huge overhaul. Each night something wasn't working. Pool is tiny so when it's busy in the day it is like sardines in the pool and therefore unable to swim. Mens changing room was untidy. Lockers were in disrepair and there seemed to be only 4 with keys.

I thought i would have a little break away from all the Halloween events so booked this hotel for one night for myself and my wife. I booked direct as i found it slightly cheaper than hotels.com. Hotel looked nice from the pictures and decided to book their standard room. Romm was very nice massive bed and bath shower combo was very good. We had a few drinks in their bar which was massive but very nice - great touch re free pool - only a depoist for the balls taken and given back. We ate that night in the Prego restaurant - nice food. Breakfast again was nice the following morning. Overall an excellent stay

I stayed at the beginning of the month and had a lovely experience with a young girl named Freya she helped us with are bags and went above and beyond with her service she was fantastic she was welcoming and chatty we returned today for a meal we were informed she had been let go. This is extremely disappointing as she was so enthusiastic about her job and seemed to bring a family feel to the hotel

A wonderfully friendly hotel with all the comfort you would expect at home. The choice of food in the bar was very good indeed, as was the choice of drinks. My colleague asked if he could watch a live football game and the bar staff changed the channel so he, and others, could see the match. Breakfast was also extremely good - You have to go a long way to find freshly cooked eggs!

We came from the US to visit the UK and we saw this hotel and decided to stay in it. This hotel is just magnificent. It feels like a relaxed amusement park to spend time with family and friends. From the rooms to the location to the food and drinks! The rooms are so clean and look very luxurious. We are really glad we stayed here and looking forward to visiting the next time we come to the UK ❤️
