Stayed at this Bed and Breakfast to attend a party. The accommodation is attached to a pub but separate too. You don't hear noisy from the pub and have a lovely private lounge area for staying guests. The room was lovely, nice layout and the most comfortable bed ever! Good shower and bathroom facilities. Breakfast was superb. Fresh fruit salad,... More

Booked a week at the Horse House (annex to the Rose & Thistle pub). Not being able to have our son & daughter plus their family's all together under one roof we decided to book the annex having had several one night visits as a couple. Alwinton and surrounding countryside is a delight to one's eyes. The property is outstanding... More

Along with three other couples we stayed for two nights in the well appointed self catering house next door to the pub. We had an evening meal and two breakfasts at the pub which were all good. The house was furnished and decorated to a high standard and it would be ideal for an extended family. The kitchen was fabulous... More

My wife & I stayed two nights at the charming hostelry a few days after the Alwinton show. The bedroom was cosy with everything we required & a nice en-suite shower room too. Gareth was a first class host & gave us information on various walks. There are also maps & useful books as well. The breakfast was excellent with... More

My fiancé and I stayed in the B and B whilst guests at a wedding being held on site. Everyone was fantastic, the staff and owners welcoming and the accommodation itself was lovely. Great views, nice rooms and really good home cooking from the bar.

What a wonderful find! A beautiful pub in a lovely location with excellent accommodation and very friendly owners who made us feel very at home. The breakfast was lovely as were the pub meals. We also had use of a very cosy living room. I would definitely return.

This was the third time I have stayed at the Rose and Thistle over the last ten years when cycling the North Pennine Cycle way ( route 68). I've got to say the owners are very friendly and helpful. First of all were immediately helped to secure our cycles and then Gareth showed us our rooms, how to work the... More

We ate here as a family in July, so I can only review from that perspective - but I must say it was fantastic. The hotel has one of the best locations of any pub in Northumberland and with it being family-run it really helps in the atmosphere of the place, including a friendly welcome. The menu is real pub... Living only an hour away, we often come walking around Alwinton and over a drink in the Rose and Thistle afterwards have often said that we must stay. We are so pleased that we did and have just had a fantastic stay there this weekend. Our room (Alwyn) was delightful and we were given such a friendly welcome. We both... More
