Stayed at the Killingworth Castle for two nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and comfortable and refurbished to a high standard, although I agree with the other reviews about poor lighting. We ate at the pub both nights and had excellent food on both occasions. The staff were welcoming and made our stay, particularly Ambor, so... More

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend an event at Blenheim Palace. We had left it a little late to book and geographically this was the nearest. It looks fantastic on the website so we booked Room 8. Although adequate for a couple of nights, I wouldn't want to have stayed any longer. There was a lot of noise from... More

Just had a lovely short break here with my new hubbie. The room we had was gorgeous and cosy with lots of nice little touches everywhere (the jar of complimentary brownies went down really well along with the tipple in the champagne glass!) Also apparently our room was the smallest, which was a surprise - I can only imagine what... More

Room #8 at the top of steep outdoor steps looked good, poster bed, raised roll top tub, but the bare floors did not appear freshly cleaned. The room looks good on photos, but we found it quite lacking in comfort, from the lack of adequate matting on steppng in from the rain, to the challenge of stepping over the bare... More

Searching for restaurants with rooms, I found Killingworth Castle in The Good Food Guide so expected a fabulous dinner. The building and rooms were immaculate and we sat in the garden for pre-dinner drinks. For dinner we started with Crab Salad and Ham Hock Terrine. For main course I chose Halibut with pea puree - sadly the fish was overcooked... More

The place was nearly empty when it was nearly always packed and you had to book well in advance. Why the place has gone down hill badly since the change in the team there. The service was so poor and menu limited that we left without eating there and the ladies even drink their cider it was so off. We... More

Lovely food and service beside a sun drenched wheat field. With a zingy crab and lobster salad to start and a well thought out mackerel main course, featuring sweet and sour currents. Tasty craft beer and a great cheeseboard. Our 9 week old found the vibe relaxing enough to sleep (mostly)!

Stopped off here on the way home from Cheshire. Never been here before but liked the look of the place and we weren't disappointed. Atmosphere great and food delicious. Also a good selection of beers. Had the lamb and it was beautiful and cooked just as I like it. Would say that it is a little expensive and not for... More

Absolutely fabulous location. Stunning rooms and friendly staff. Excellent facility's. And the attention to detail is exceptional. It Would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room, but can't fault anything. I will be recommending to all my friends and family. Five stars

Nicely furnished room with comfy bed and clean bathroom, it was very warm during our stay and the room was pretty noisy with the window open, the movement of other guests is really noisy and echoey because of the wooden floors. Breakfast was delicious and the meal we had on the Saturday evening was pricey, but delicious. We'd recommend a... More
