We visited for a few days between Christmas and New year and what a wonderful break we had. The whole place has a feeling of history and being cozy.
From checking in to leaving we were made to feel we mattered. The room was small but what do you need to sleep and relax a little. The bathroom was very nice, though the shower pressure wasn't up to much, but apart from putting power showers in there's not much can be done. It's just so quirky with coridoors seeing to go everywhere though it's a bit steep down to the main bar so watch out!
Perfect for a trip to Oxford though we preferred Bambury.
Check out the statue of the fine lady as you reach Bambury.
The breakfast was really good, and there's a nice choice if you don't want standard English bacon and eggs.
Would be go again? Absobloodylutely!

During these troubled times, COVIC 19 of course, people may be very concerned about social distancing etc. Be assured that at The Red Lion, you will find that everything is in place for a safe visit, the management and team are 100% committed to your peace of mind. Your room is cleaned/ sanitised completely, even the mattress protector is changed after every booking, my wife who is a “born” worrier was completely at ease !! Should you be dining as well, no worries either, the restaurant is arranged with safety, social distancing, the team equipped with visors/ face masks all times !! To add, the quality of service, food, and presentation is to high standards, even with extra tasks caused by present circumstances Because we felt perfectly safe, we are returning in the near future! Red Lion, well done 🤙

Couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough. Right from the very point of our booking with central reservations at Greene King… We particularly wanted a twin room and they got back to us to say that if we could travel a day later, then we could be accommodated. It all went so smoothly.

From the time of our arrival:-
car parking facilities around the back – very easy and free; we were greeted kindly and welcomed and the room was super ~ so clean, comfortable and light. Oh and with a bath AND rain head shower.
Nice touch we were tentative with opening the window and the manager came up and not only opened it for us, but also set up a fan in our room so we were cool, when we returned to our room.

Some nice sunny tables at the front and back of the hotel, so we had a lovely couple of drinks sat in the sunshine. The food was really good and plentiful and so we ate there both nights and the included breakfasts are superb value for money; a really good breakfast selection, all cooked to order and plenty of hot drinks too. No buffet ~ what a relief!

Nothing was too much trouble for Dan & his staff; they are an excellent team; really friendly, affable people who, you just knew, wanted you to have a lovely time & hopefully return. We will!

Also recommend the National Trust property Upton House and Park, only about 20 minutes drive north-west – well worth a visit, especially if you appreciate art, ceramics and walks! Couple of other pubs in the village too – the Bell Inn, a v friendly real ale pub, is definitely worth a visit. As is a walk around the public lake – very near to the hotel.

A great hotel, in a friendly, interesting location.

After spending so much time in adhering to Covid. I9 protocols my wife and I decided to take a trip to the cotswolds. I was looking for a B&B. I chose the Red Lion a Greene king old coaching house in Adderbury it was situated just outside Banbury a short drive to the tourist areas.
This turned to be an excellent choice. This old Inn had bags of charm with its quirky facilities bars and bedrooms We was warmly welcomed by Lucie who attended to our room and meals. Food was excellent well prepared and at a good price. Breakfast was included in the price. Highly recommend should you like to be convenient but not on top of to all that the Cotswolds has to offer.
Thank you Lucie and staff for a memorable stay.

We often stay in Greene Kings pubs with accommodation, this one is the best we’ve ever stayed in. The staff really make the place, shouldn’t really name two as they were all great but Kirsty and Lucy were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and genuinely interested in all the people who came through their doors. Breakfast was excellent and we had two evening meals that were beautifully cooked.
Unexpected bonus was a display from Morris men outside and a Jumble Sale across the road! If you’re a light sleeper (we’re not) maybe ask for a room at the back as there is some traffic noise at peak times at the front of the building. Thank you all for a Great Stay, very pretty area.

We have just stayed for 2 nights.
The Red Lion is very easy to travel to and find and is located in the quiet village of Adderbury.
The nearest small town of Banbury is located 4 miles up the road and has transport services.
The rooms in the Red Lion are modern, cosy and kept clean to a high standard.
We ate both nights in the inns restaurant.
The inn uses the Greene King menu and is varied and well priced, the food was of excellent quality and quantity.
Breakfast was served in the same restaurant and was of high quality aswell, poached eggs were fantastic.

The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.Kirsty made us feel very welcome and looked after us throughout our visit.
We will definitely be returning to the Red Lion as it’s in a great location with great food and service.
Thanks again from Chris and Rhian

Four of us ate here recently on the first day their new menu went live.
Two of our party had the sea food risotto & declared it excellent. I had the fillet steak & the other member of the party had the Hunters Chicken. Both these dishes were very good. Despite being short staffed the team on duty gave us a warm welcome and we enjoyed excellent service from Lucy. We always find the Red Lion represents good value for money. We can't comment on the hotel side of the business as we only called in for a meal. W e did however over hear some one who was staying say that their room was very good

The staff at the Red Lion were fantastic when we visited just before Christmas for a family meal. There were a dozen of us, including kids, and we had a huge table set up for us in a lovely room at the back. Lots of character and Christmas cheer! The menu has lots to choose from, including options for vegetarians. The food was all brought out at the same time - quite a feat considering there were 12 of us! The staff were flexible when we needed to change bits on the meals or add an item to our order. The food was nothing to shout about but was all hot.

Excellent parking and accessibility from the motorway. We also discovered the pub is right next to a walk round a lake that was perfect for after dinner. Altogether a really welcoming atmosphere, cosy, catered for a big party and wasn't crazy expensive! Staff were brilliant - thank you so much for making our day go smoothly!

Double room was a good size with all the necessary amenities. Our room overlooked the main road through but there was secondary glazing and we could ony just hear traffic noise. The facilities were very clean and comfortable, with a fan, hairdryer, iron and board if required. Towels were a great size. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice of items to please everyone. Food was well cooked and presented. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We also had dinner there on 2 nights and the service was great with plenty of selection and the service was brilliant. Secure parking at rear made it a first class choice.

We have been regulars at the red Lion for some years and food is always extremely good and the staff wonderful. Now in these uncertain times with COVID-19 The Red Lion once again has proved themselves to be conscientious and professional in their approach to keeping their customers safe. I have been to two other local pub restaurants, neither of which I will be returning to! My husband has been shielding and can honestly say the only restaurant we will be visiting is The Red Lion! Thank you Daniel and team for making our evening!

I do apologise for not answering sooner, I was on holiday. Check in is from 2pm, but access to the room can be given from 12pm, it may not be clean but access to leave luggage and change for an event is possible. Check out is 11am.

Answer from Brian N

Car Park at the rear appeared to be quite safe also one has to negotiate a narrow entry/entry which will assist and slow any thief down. But as mentioned by other residents all cars cannot be seen from the road.
