Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent in all aspects. Very welcoming at arrival. A last minute booking but a wonderful decision to stay. Room was excellent and very friendly staff, especially Joanne and Duncan who both regally looked after our drink and food needs. Would definitely return and also recommend without hesitation.

Small friendly hotel in the north of Lewis. Our room was a good size and very comfortable. Nice touch to have the mini-fridge in the corridor with fresh milk for your tea and coffee (so much better than UHT cartons!). We had dinner in the Bothy Bar, which had lots of atmosphere and great food.

The bedroom was well appointed with a large en-suite with walk in shower. Decor modern & bright. King-size bed was sumptuous with a lovely duvet. open plan restaurant, bar and breakfast areas again modern and bright with pictures of local sights. Service was excellent. Good choice for breakfast and dinner and everything was cooked well. The separate Barn Bar was welcoming with a wood burner and good range of single malts and real ales. Enjoyed convivial company with local residents and fellow travellers alike. This is a gem of a place to stay.

On a bleak evening we wrestled against the wind to enter Cross Inn and were met with warm smiles and immaculate surroundings. The hotel is elegantly furnished with Harris tweed and lovely pieces of antique furniture on the stair to the rooms make you feel you are in a stately home. We had the family room that was spacious with a double and a single bed. Tea and coffee making facilities were upgraded above the norm with the inclusion of Tunnocks caramel wafers. Highland soap company products in the very clean ensuite were a treat. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. The dinner chef in particular gave us butternut squash and rosemary soup and then baked haddock with couscous and garlic butter. 😋 Really high quality food and the restaurant has been refurbished in muted Harris tweed. It's a wild isolated spot but well worth the trip to Cross Inn.

Seriously tasty. We had a lovely meal at Cross Inn - first time I’ve been this year and I was really impressed. We were really happy with the standard of the service, the waitresses were very polite and professional, all three courses we each had were fantastic and we cleared the plates completely, and I was even really chuffed with standard of my Guinness! Really chuffed all around and we’ll make a point in not leaving it so long next time!

Stayed here for one night. Before check-in I enjoyed a lovely lunch and headed out for a walk in the area. The room was clean and very modern but yet cozy. Breakfast was cooked to order in the morning which was a nice touch. Wish I could have stayed another night but unfortunately had to leave. Will be back if in the area again.

We visited this lovely restaurant on our first full day. On Sundays all the shops are closed but there are places to eat and drink open. I had the burger and James had the Steak and Ale Pie. Both were great and the service was great too. Would definitely recommend.
