Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hidden gem is the description my wife and I agreed on. The hotel is on a relatively quiet side street and is small at about forty rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We managed to bridge the language barrier thanks to the staff knowledge of English which was more than adequate for our purposes. A bellman delivered the bags to our room which had a separate seating area with a day bed that could probably accommodate a third person. The king size bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner kept the room cool for the three nights we stayed at the Hotel Loy. The bathroom is separated from the sleeping area, unusually, by sliding wood panel doors on two sides - a little awkward at times, but not a major problem. The staff helpfully relayed messages from various tour operators we had booked beforehand and the bartender offered us a complimentary non-alcoholic refreshment each day upon our return, although the shelves behind the bar offered a reasonable selection of stronger libations. Breakfast, the only meal offered, is served on an open air, but shaded terrace. The menu is a combination of Asian and international ranging from wonton soup to a fruit plate.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Hotel Loy Chiangmai. The hotel was gorgeously designed, presenting a hybrid of modernist architecture and Lanna aesthetics. The common areas were well maintained and beautiful. The guestroom (we had a room with 2 twin beds and a small sitting area) was tastefully appointed with chic, minimalist design, and offered enough comfort and space for the two of us. We appreciated the conveniently located electrical outlets for our various electronic gadgets (who doesn’t have them these days?), both at the nightstands and in the bathroom. The bathroom was one of those creative ones with retractable walls, and the whole bathroom can be exposed to the bedroom. We’re not sure why this would be desirable, given the moisture and noises when the bathroom is in use, but as this type of creative special use goes, this one was sturdily and beautifully constructed, with the retractable panels becoming floor to ceiling mirrors inside the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, as were the linens and pillows. We also liked the “open closet” which was just a clothes rack with some open shelves for clothes and shoes. There were some horizontal surfaces for storing some of our unpacked belongings, but a few more hooks on the walls would have helped travelers air out their used clothes (don’t act like you don’t do that). A beautiful hotel room shouldn’t be spoiled by clothes draped on furniture and scattered belongings. The restaurant downstairs offered good breakfasts. Guests would order two items from the menu, and the kitchen cooked them to order for you. The food was delicious and well presented, a nice break from buffet-style breakfasts that other hotels offer. The hotel staff was welcoming, responsive, and representative of diverse groups. As LGBTQ+ travelers, we appreciated the inclusivity and representation of the hotel’s employees. CONCLUSIONS Hotel Loy Chiangmai was a feast to the eye, if you like chic, thoughtful modernist design with a touch of the local aesthetics. The guestroom was comfortable and clean, as were the bedding and furniture. Diverse staff was helpful and cordial, and breakfast was pleasant and delicious.

Hotel Loy has an incredibly amazing staff. They take time to learn your name and what you want to do in Chiang Mai. The staff are also very helpful and quick to recommend the most incredible spots to dine in the city. They have a very tasty breakfast every morning where you can choose two items for breakfast. Breakfast has many options- both eggs and local Thai dishes. Hotel Loy has a very affordable and quick laundry service which is great for travelers. And a huge shout out to the night staff member Sand. He made our whole experience in Chiang Mai so wonderful! Hotel Loy is lucky to have him on their team!

The whole staff is outstanding. Friendly, quick, knowledgeable, capable of several languages. The hotel is clean and modern, compatible to a boutique Hotel in the US. The hotel is in the center of Chiang Mai and its easy to walk to shopping places and bars.

If we could give more stars for the service here, we would. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon during the festival. Incredible hospitality and aesthetic. Rooms were clean, and the overall environment nice and quiet. The breakfast they offered was incredible, as well as the drinks they served you every time you came through the lobby. We will definitely be back here the next time we come back!

a very must try hotel in chiang mai!!! the best hotel in this area!! i wished i could’ve stayed here for a longer period. The location was peaceful, the bed is really big for just me and my mom and very comfy. The pool is excellent with a great view, the food is fantastic!!! i have many choices for breakfast and i am absolutely in love with Loy’s pad thai and mango sticky rice, it is so delicious. Also, the staff here are incredible, i stayed at Loy for only 3 days but it feels like we are family there. They are very friendly, showed us all around and have so many good suggestions for where to eat, to go and experience. We met Zen and he is absolutely amazing, he suggested so many good places for us to go, he let us try the hotel’s specialty drinks and even sings to us in our language!!! There are many restaurant choices for us to choose around the hotel too! They are very close to the hotel and we walked there for lunch. Again, the hotel is gorgeous with a best location in town, i love this place so much and i will definitely choose Loy again for my next visit in Chiang Mai!

This hotel is one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. We were with a group of 8 on a golf tour. The staff are outstanding - incredibly helpful and obliging, welcoming and ready to do anything for you. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast is good quality and rapidly ready. The location is perfect for exploring and experiencing the local culture. In short.. you’ll love it!
