Really, really great hostel for Yorkshire Dales activity breaks, serving the very best homemade food using locally sourced ingredients. There is a well looked after Secondhand bookshop and postoffice in the hostel making it a really special place to visit. There is a brilliant village shop and three pubs in the village making it a really easy place to spend time away from home. There are a great range of walks straight from the front door and some truly inspiring bike rides!

Friends of mine hired the hostel for my hen do - and what a weekend! The hostel was well looked after, clean and comfortable. They made us all feel so welcome and were very flexible with the space allowing us to temporarily decorate. For ease we decided to have dinner made for

Dear maddyy2017, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your kind review. Ordinarily we are a little cautious about accepting bookings for hen-do's, but you were all just lovely! We really enjoyed having you here and are so glad that you had a good time. We really appreciated the care that you took of the place. We hold onto the belief that as we make the hostel nicer, people will look after it better and you were all so careful with your lovely decorations not to make marks on the walls we really appreciated it, thank you. We hope that the rest of the wedding was as charming as the hen do was and wish you all the very best for the future, Saul and Floss

Terrific Hostel. Very comfortable, cozy, clean as could be. Floss was at the front desk, welcoming and pleasant. We missed what looked like great food and opted for a wonderful dinner at The King's Head. No regrets, but I would have liked to try the Hostel food as well.

Dear Sophronia C, Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to write your kind review of our lovely hostel, we really appreciate it! We are both really pleased that you enjoyed your stay here and enjoyed one of the pubs in the village! I am glad too that you enjoyed the breakfasts that you had here, as with every part of the menu, the porridge is a very carefully prepared dish, soaked overnight in milk, cooked till it is smooth and creamy and served with little bowls of soft brown sugar and cinnamon, it is a perfect, simple way to start your day on the hills. People often arrive in the evening after it has gone dark, and I always imagine it is really great to wake up to see Kettlewell for the first time in the morning! Thanks again, we hope the you get to come back sometime! Saul and Floss

Stopped off on a walk across the Dale's and couldn't have picked a more perfect place to spend the night. A very friendly welcome by the owners and a very well looked after hostel, the food was brilliant too, very hot showers with good pressure (always appreciated after a day

Dear Daniel M, Thank you very much for taking the time to write your kind review! It was good to see you after your long walk, there are few ailments that can't be fixed by a plate of 8 hour beef stew with mash and cabbage with a couple of beers! I hope that you can make it back this way sometime. Thanks again and very best wishes, Saul

My "hiking mate" and I stayed here for a couple of nights to go walking in one of our favourite parts of the word (despite the weather on Saturday). The bedroom, showers, toilets and indeed the whole hostel is spotlessly clean and tidy. The welcome was warm and friendly and the

Dear Jackie B, Thank you so much for your lovely review! I am so pleased that you had a good time here! When I am working on new recipes and thinking through the menu (as I am now for next year) hearty has to be the most commonly used adjective! after a great day out in the dales I can't think of a better thing than to have than a hearty 8 hour beef stew with proper mash and cabbage! or any of the other hearty things that we have on offer! The book shop is proving to be an increasingly important of people's stay here! If you are travelling alone, it is so good to be able to pick up an interesting book for an evening in front of the fire, for groups it is a great conversation starter (better than talking about sports IMHO) and for readers, it is just good to have a selection of nice quality, secondhand books to look through! Thanks again, I hope that you get to come back sometime! Best wishes, Saul
