Clara welcomed us with a big smile! We stayed one night and were the only one in the castle as it was closing the next day to the public for a few weeks. The castle is beautiful, the room was very nice, great bed and beautiful bathroom with a nice old designed bathtub. Even though there are no lunch or dinner available while you stay at the Prince Noir, Clara was cooking that day and offered us to have lunch in the big and beautiful dinning room. The table was a very romantic set up, with long red candles on the table mixed with the old dinnerware. She is definitely a good cook. We had a delicious pumpkin soup and a risotto with a mushroom called langue de boeuf! Breakfast is included and it was very nice and good, from delicious croissant and bred, with yogurt, choice of juice and eggs. The castle is very clean and service is impeccable. Thank you Cara for a memorable stay.…
I have been meaning to write this review for quite sometime and just remembered today that it had slipped my mind. My family and I (my husband, 3 children, son-in-law, future daughter-in-law, granddaughter and I) went to France last spring and decided to split our time between Paris and Bordeaux. We wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast in Bordeaux (something quaint, comfy and unique--something that would really give us a feel for the place) and we came accross this Chateau. While the pictures are beautiful and captivating, they only tell part of the story. When we drove up we were simply in awe---it is a breathtaking castle nesteled in a beautiful landscape surrounded by a moat. The interior is astoundingly gorgeous and decorated for it's time but surpringly offers all the modern comforts and amentities! The rooms are huge and majestic, great beds and linen and the bathrooms, while deocrated true to the era of the original castle, function like a modern facility--and yes, with fantstic pedestal tubs. In addition, the rooms are stocked with all the essentials and there are new towels daily that have the fresh smell of lemons--when I asked the hostess how she cleans the towels to make them so soft and smell so fresh, she told me she hangs them outdoors to dry. The castle also has plenty of outdoor seating, a great swing set out front and grounds you can spend hours walking and discovering.... And, the hostess was incredible and so engaging! Our breakfasts were fresh and scrumptious/always had many choices, great pastries, fruits and cheese, yogurt, juice and sometimes eggs and plenty for my granddaughter to eat. She told us stories of her family and background and had 2 wonderful dogs that were clearly part of the family! I have been to countless hotels, beds and breakfasts, vacation rentals and have never had an experience like this! I would highly recommend this as not only a great and convenient place to stay (and very affordable for what you get) it will also tranform you to another time and place, providing you with best vacation imaginable!!…
It is B&B in the heart of Bordeaux wines region - just 15 km from Bordeaux. Chateau is fully renovated- with a/c, modern bathrooms, swimming pool - however greatly embedded into medieval chateaux building. Owners are very friendly. Great, highly recommended!
Superb chateau, with a very high standard service and hospitality. Beautiful garden with luxurious pooldeck. Owner Carla is a super friendly lady, where service is the key word. I will come back again.
You have to experience this castle. It is magic. The athmosphere is unique and the hostess really make your stay great. Every morning we were served a delicious breakfast in the dining room and in the afternoon we had wine and cheese on the terrace. This place is perfect for excursions to vineyards and Bordeaux, or just enjoy a day at the castle with charming surroundings. The rooms are big and you feel like a royal.
