Detailed Reviews
We stayed in the Grand Barn as a family of 5 for 4 nights at the end of July. The owner (Brigita) was extremely helpful throughout the whole booking process and for the duration of our stay. Thanks for taking in and unpacking our shopping order!
The accommodation has been designed to a very high standard and each of the 4 bedrooms had its own en-suite bathroom, with baths in 2 of these. The kitchen was very well appointed and the lovely dining area had the full ceiling height of the barn, creating a great feeling of space.
The location is great for exploring York 20-25 minute drive) and we spent 3 days visiting the York Castle Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre, York Castle, Fudge Kitchen, Castle Howard and Fountains Abbey. The free York walking tour was also excellent. Parking in the York Castle car park was straightforward.
We would definitely rebook the accommodation if we planned to return to York and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting a hassle-free luxury break in North Yorkshire

We hired all the barns to celebrate 🥳 my partners 60th Birthday. There was 20 of us, staying in all the barns with a couple of Dogs. We took advantage of the recommended private chef based in the nearby village of Kelfield- they provided a fantastic meal for the Saturday evening. Brigita was a fantastic host- nothing was too much trouble. All the barns have been extremely tastefully renovated with high quality tasteful furnishings. We also took advantage of the BBQs on the Sunday. The location is a 20 minute walk from the pubs in Cawood and 10 mins from the Outlet and park & ride which takes you into York. Everyone has has had a brilliant weekend- what a fantastic place, a true hidden gem 💎 we will return.

Visited with our Son and his partner, we stayed in the Dovecote, we had a fantastic stay there is plenty of space for four adults. Beautiful kitchen and very well equipped we cooked a couple of meals and there was everything we need in the way of pots and pans. Lovely welcome basket which included milk, bread, butter, eggs and some jams. The lounge has two large sofas so again plenty of room to sit in the evening. Bedrooms both have on suites which is a bonus. The barn has underfloor heating which we found very warm in fact we had to ask for it to be turned down. There is a bus stop close by which we used to go into York.
I would definitely recommend this place.

This was the most perfect venue to celebrate my 80th birthday with my extended family. All the cottages are lovely and equipped to a very high standard. There was so much space for 23 of us to be together or find a quiet spot to talk or relax. Brigita has thought of everything to make a stay here memorable.

We attended our daughter’s wedding here and stayed all weekend. The facilities are superb. This included accommodation for 18 people in modern cottages and a purpose built barn conversion with access to a large modern kitchen, mezzanine deck and large hall for the reception and a bar. Brigita and her staff delivered an exceptional service, I would highly recommend this venue. You will not be disappointed.

My now-husband and I had our wedding reception at The Dovecote Barns in June, and stayed all weekend with our families and friends. We're still in disbelief at how perfect the weekend was, and that's in no small part down to Brigita and the team - from the welcome baskets with fresh eggs, bread, and bubbly, to the wonderfully characterful and modern barns which have everything you could possibly want - the site is faultless. And that's not including all of the hard work Brigita put into helping us pull off a magical wedding day! Thank you so much again - we'll definitely be back!
