On arrival, the hotel was well presented, but there wasn’t a warm welcome by reception staff ;,which I would have expected at a 5 star hotel and although refreshments were available, they were not offered to us . There was no tour given around the hotel to show you the facilities which was slightly disappointing. It was a very nice room with a great view out to sea and the cleaning staff who came every day were fabulous. We did eat in the restaurant once, but there wasn’t a very welcoming reception by staff; however the food was great . Also later on in the holiday we had room service, which was very good. There was a bus stop just outside the hotel which was really convenient and took you in to Skiathos town or take 10 mins or a 30 minute walk , but could also take you around the island . We were hit by storm Daniel mid way through the holiday, which was tough on the hotel, staff and people on holiday! The staff worked really hard to get the the hotel back together, but I do feel guests got a little bit forgotten along the way. The storm had a big impact on our holiday and obviously you can’t help the weather, but I have to say the hotel could have helped a little more in this situation, as there was no communication at all with guests during the storm and we were left not knowing what was going on. Sadly the pools were not usable for the remainder of the holiday and the beach was trashed. The owners wandered around the hotel, but no greetings were given by them at all, yes your hotel has been affected by the weather, but our holiday has been as well ! It’s called hospitality for a reason. I have to say that I would be surprised if there wasn’t any one hurt with pipes and man holes exposed around the hotel . In conclusion it’s in a beautiful location, but there is a lack of warmth and empathy from a lot of the staff, not all, but it comes from the top! I have messaged twice as feel there should be some compensation for our last week holidaying in a war zone, but no reply has been received at all!

Responded 4 Dec 2023
Dear Christopher F, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. We appreciate your kind words about the initial presentation of the hotel, the room, and the cleaning staff. We understand your need for a warm welcome and take your comments into consideration, however some sort of understanding and empathy from our guests after such a disaster where people have lost their properties or mourn human lives, would have been really appreciated. We sincerely apologize for any shortcomings you may have experienced in terms of the welcome at the hotel reception, the lack of a tour to showcase our facilities. Your feedback is important, and we take it seriously as we continuously strive to enhance our guests' experiences. We regret that the impact of storm Daniel affected your holiday, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. We understand the frustration of not receiving communication during such a challenging time, however, we would like to point out that this was an unprecedented situation for us as well. Meteorologists classified the storm as Greece's worst since records began in 1930. We appreciate your acknowledgment of the hard work by our staff to restore the hotel post-storm. We understand that the unusable pool and beach may have been disappointments, and we assure you that we are taking steps to prevent such situations in the future. We sincerely value your feedback, as it helps us identify areas for improvement and refine our guest services. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, providing you with the exceptional experience that you deserve. Best regards, George Raptopoulos General Manager

This hotel was clean and staff were very friendly couldn’t do enough to please you. The main pool was out of action the whole week we were here. There is no facility’s to make tea and coffee in your room. But I believe you can ask for a kettle at reception. I thought the prices for drinks and food were expensive but there is nowhere else to go unless you take the bus. there are no taverns or shops In walking distance from the hotel you have to get a bus everywhere. The buses are great every 10 minutes . There is a small beachside bar called radi on the beach which was okay for a lunch and reasonable prices. Right outside the hotel you are at bus stop 8 the nearest supermarket is bus stop 5 or 10 at €2 if you go into town you can get of At bus stop 4 and walk down the main streets or if you get of at the terminal you can walk up the streets both are good . Lots of taverns from bus stop 17-20 . Taxes from town are €10. And if you’re thinking of doing the mama Mia tour do it from the boats in the harbour in town far cheaper and very good.

First timers to Skiathos, but unlikely to be our last. This is an exceptional hotel that has exceptional staff. Nothing was too much trouble and all so very friendly and helpful. Special mention for Aggeliki who greeted us and served each morning at breakfast. Friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble for her. An absolute credit to the hotel. Another mention for Yanna (hope that’s how she spells her name) who kept our room spotless and created many presentations with the towels and flowers on the bed each morning. To them both, along with all the other staff, thank you for making us so welcome and making such a positive impact on our stay. After the flood devastation at the beginning of September we did wonder what we would be arriving to. The hotel as well as the main town of Skiathos was very clean and tidy. Little evidence of the floods, however you could see where issues had been. You can see from the 2* review earlier this month, some of the devastation, sadly the is not positive but I will say well said from the general manager in response to the review! A credit to all the locals who were clearly intent on getting as back to normal as quickly as they could. The hotel is well placed and served by a local water taxi from the beachfront to the main town and a local bus service with a stop right at the front of the hotel for the town or the other end of the island to Koukounaries. A lovely selection from the buffet breakfast restaurant and a nice selection of lunchtime snacks available from the bar area. We were bed and breakfast and travelled in to the town where there is a large selection of good restaurants and bars. The hotel is well situated for exploring the island and whilst we did not make use of a number of the facilities it is certainly a hotel to thoroughly recommend. I’m sure all other amenities are up to standard as well. We had a wonderful stay and would certainly recommend and return. One minor negative which didn’t really impact us was the lack of coffee and tea making facilities. Given this is a 5* hotel I would expect these to be provided without an additional charge. Thank you to all the staff, you are a credit to the hotel.

Just back from a week in Skiathos. Our stay at KBR was awesome. All the staff is very friendly and attentive. large selection of food for breakfast and a good delicious menu for lunch and dinner. very clean hotel, big pools with an option of swimming in the sea. 10min boat taxi to skiathos old town otherwise the bus stops outside the hotel. The mini gym is also perfect for a good workout. I highly recommend this hotel not only for a fly and flop relaxing holiday, but also for whoever wants to explore more the island.

We arrived at Kassandra Bay on the 4th September and stayed for 2 weeks. Despite the horrendous, unexpected weather conditions at the start of our stay, we had a very pleasant experience and were extremely impressed by how hard every single member of staff worked. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone, especially on the day of our wedding when we had staff running around everywhere with our requests. We thought our room and all the food was lovely. There was also plenty to choose from at breakfast and the hotel is in a great location with a bus stop right outside. We have already booked for next year and cannot wait!

Ok family run hotel. No way a 5 star hotel. More like 3 stars. I've travelled for over 50 years to many destinations. Location is great and breakfast is ok. Snack bar is average but overlooking the beautiful sea. Personally it's over rated and over priced. Travelled here from 3rd September for a week. Unfortunately i won't be returning. Tui reps are only interested in selling tours to make commission. Skiathos Town would be a better place to stay.

Dear jesmond b, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us on Trip Advisor. All the comments are welcome and taken into consideration always. However, we are deeply distressed with the photos of the recent natural disaster that affected not only our island but also the wider region of Thessaly. While we understand the importance of sharing experiences, you should consider the sensitive nature of such events. The disaster had a profound impact on both our community and the broader area, including the loss of human lives and widespread destruction. We find your photos uploading disrespectful and lacking compassion towards all those who experienced the natural disaster and lost their properties or mourn human lives. Perhaps you should use the platform to raise awareness of relief efforts, share stories of resilience, or provide information on how others can support affected communities during this challenging time, instead of grumbling that your holiday was not as expected amid the worst storm that hit Greece since 1930 as per the meteorologists of the National Weather service. We will be more than happy to have you again with us another time in the future so that you will find that our hotel is in the previous and even better condition. Best regards, George Raptopoulos General Manager

Still here whilst writing this, first thing I wish to say is how lovely the staff are, breakfast is really good but shame there's no option to eat outside. Bit disappointed with the 'seaview' room on level 1 is not great you need to be higher. Bathroom is excellent. Disappointing there is no kettle in the room to make tea/coffee, never experienced this before in a superior hotel. Would be ok if if wasn't €8.50 for a peppermint tea & coffee at the bar post dinner. Unfortunately our trip was spoiled by both of us contracting severe sickness, spending several days in bed. Help from TUI rep was not forthcoming & we had to cancel our boat trip for €100 with no refund unless we got a doctor's note. Not the hotels fault but abismal service & zero help from TUI

Dear Immy1504, Thank you very much for your kind words about our staff, after all, we are very proud of it. Regarding the option of having breakfast outside, unfortunately it is highly unlikely mainly for health reasons, since the breakfast buffet has to be served in a suitably adapted indoor space. If any of our customers wish to have breakfast outside, there is a wooden terrace for this purpose. Regarding the tea & coffee facility this is an on-demand service. When we were, also, informed about the state of your health we offered to help you in any way we could, either by supplying you with the necessary medicines for your case or by preparing you a specific diet. After all, this is something we adressed to the TUI rep too. Looking forward to welcoming you back to our hotel. Best regards, George Raptopoulos General Manager

Recently returned from our 3rd visit to this wonderful hotel. We were there during Storm Daniel & must compliment the staff & management on their professionalism during an horrific few days for all concerned. They went above & beyond their duties to ensure all guests were looked after. God bless each & every one of you. There are a couple of points that I feel I must raise, that I hope management will act upon. We always stay in the suites & on our 1st visit 6 years ago, we were greeted by the lovely staff at the reception for suite guests & given a glass of bubbly on arrival. This was a lovely touch to start our holiday. When we returned in 2019 & again this year, we had to check in at the main reception & felt the personal touch had gone. I understand that due to costs, the reception for suite guests cannot be manned all the time but just for guest arrivals would maintain the personal touch you expect in a 5 star rated hotel. Following on with the 5 star theme, there was no kettle, iron or ironing board in our room. Yes these are available on request ( if available ) but if you are paying over £3k for a weeks holiday, guests expect more. It’s the little things that set a 5 star hotel from other rated establishments. Thirdly, as suites guests, we are given a separate area to sit for breakfast. During our 10 night stay there were guests from the main hotel coming through & sitting with their breakfasts in the suite area ( this was happening before the storm hit ). One couple asked us what was the protocol in the suite area as they hadn’t used it before & had fancied a change from the main hotel guest area. This had not happened during our first 2 visits to the hotel & no one was questioning guests at the door to check if they were suite guests. We will possibly to this hotel but have booked another 5 star hotel near town for next year as we did feel that standards have slipped here in recent years
