Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hidden gem is worth all 5 stars. Its situation is beautiful within woodlands and lakes. The lodges themselves - we stayed in an A-framed one - are very cosy and have everything you need for your holiday. All made of wood with an open staircase (there's even a stair gate supplied for little ones). All in all we had such a wonderful time despite the weather plus our dog loved it, that we shall definitely be back. Oh and I forgot to say that the hosts are so friendly and couldn't do enough for you

This was a return visit to Forda after a few years away, and we can’t say enough good things about Forda.

Our accommodation had seen some significant upgrades since our last visit, both in terms of decoration, and equipment. The new paint scheme made to lodge look brighter and more inviting and gone was the electric heater in favour of wall mounted heating panels. The kitchen has also been updated with the addition on under unit fridge, freezer, and dishwasher.

Everything was spotlessly clean, and a good deal of effort has been put in to making you feel totally at home.

As before the ponds and surroundings where peaceful, clean, and excellent for
spending a chilled-out week.

We booked a weeks stay in The Barn in May and happy to say we were not disappointed.

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and has everything you need for family break.

The swimming pool is fantastic and really clean, the games room is well equipped and well maintained. The grounds are lovely and my kids enjoyed their first ever fishing experience in one of the lakes (over a two hour period my son caught 1 and my daughter caught 3)

Location wise, the lodges are in a very quiet spot and close enough to Bude and all the facilities. Kilkhampton seemed like a nice place and the London Inn does great, affordable food.

My only observation would be that I’m not sure I’d want to stay there in winter as I don’t think it would be warm enough. We experienced a couple of very wet and cooler days (around 9 to 10 degrees) and found the barn cold. There is under floor heating downstairs which is ok but not enough to sufficiently warm the rooms. There is also an electric ‘fire’ in the front room which is about as effective as a hairdryer in warming a large-ish room.
Upstairs there are plug in electric heaters which do the job but again, I’m unsure if these would suffice on a cold winters day

The new owners are lovely and very accommodating. We had a couple of questions and everything was sorted and resolved really quickly without any fuss.

I’d definitely come back to Forda and would happily recommend it for anyone wanting a peaceful stress free break away

Wonderful holiday at Forda Lodges, the hosts are the most lovely people, very welcoming and friendly.
The site is immaculate, plenty of space. Great activities for the kids including tennis, basket ball, table football, darts, pool table, table tennis, boules, horseshoes, giant chess, swings and a sandpit. Antibacterial spray and hand gel available in the communal areas.
We went fishing in the first pond (there are three ponds), the kids caught some fish which they were thrilled about.
Site felt very safe, kids loved playing football and running around.
Good Covid safe measures in place, lodge came equipped with anti bac spray and a little hand gel.
Very picturesque and scenic, quiet with lots of wildlife around.
We stayed in the Barn which was very well equipped and very clean. BBQ’s available to use.
Lots of bench’s around the site so we were able to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening in the sunshine.
We will be back again! Little gem of a place. Can’t fault anything.

We have just returned after spending 10 days at Forda over Christmas and New Year.
This is our second time here and we will definitely be back again.
Rob and Abi absolutely cannot do enough for you and did everything to make our stay welcoming.
We have family in the area and we wanted to all spend Christmas Day in the cottage which meant us requiring seating and crockery for 10 which Rob and Abi were more than happy to accommodate.
The cottage we stayed in was perfect for our needs, incredibly clean, extremely comfortable and with plenty of room.
The grounds around all the accommodation are pristine and the pool and games room are perfect particularly with a young family to entertain.
There is loads to do in the area and we headed home feeling like we’ve had a very relaxing break and also spent lots of family time together

Beautiful, peaceful week yet again at this amazing place. We picked a super hot week so decided to stay around the lodge during the day as the dogs would have been too hot elsewhere. Kids and partner popped to Bude for a swim during the day, then we all went down of an evening to either Bude and it’s amazing sea pool or Sandymouth. Plenty of jellyfish but nobody stung. This place is a haven for dogs, they love a walk around the four lakes throughout the day. Kids loved the pool and games room, the upgrades are really nice. Lovely new furniture and soft furnishings. Can’t wait to book again. We live Forda and we live Bude. It’s a lot less commercialised than other seaside towns.

We have been going to Forda for many years staying in The Stables because I am becoming more disabled and it is set up for people with disabilities. Rob and Abi make you feel very welcome and are available should any problems occur. Everywhere including the pool is very clean. The Stables is a five star property with all amenities and even has a small courtyard garden.. There are lovely walks around the lakes and when our grandchildren come and stay they love the games room and playing football basketball and tennis up at the court. You are only a couple of miles from the nearest village of Kilkhampton where there is a good pub, chinese takeaway fish and chip shop and pizza takeaway .Bude is a ten minute drive should you want a beach.
We wouldn’t go anywhere else now as Forda has all we want. I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

We’ve just returned from a fantastic week at Forda. Perfect tranquil location but not far from the beaches and shops. Weather was great so a different beach each day, great for surfing and rock pooling. We also visited Tintagel and saw the new bridge. We stayed in a A frame lodge which was spotless and had a handy stair gate and cot. Oodles of outdoor space for the children to run, play cricket. We used the tennis court and the pool looked very nice. We didn’t make use of the spa facilities because of lock down but we still had a great time exploring the woodland and 4 lakes. Even though we’re not into fishing we were told the fishing is exceptional.
The new owners were so helpful we will definitely be back. Thank you Rob and Abi.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at The Barn at Forda. Lovely cottage with all amenities you would need. The weather wasn't brilliant but the area provided plenty to do during the day and the evenings were easily filled for our 3 grandchildren with the games room and swimming pool. The bonus with the pool is being able to book it for an hour of exclusive use. If I could have one niggle, the toilet brushes need changing and maybe the toilet seat in the downstairs loo. Just a little attention to small details. Doesn't stop us from giving an excellent 5 stars though.

The Stables is a self-contained 3 double-bedroom 2 bathroom stone cottage with a high beamed roof in this lovely country self-catering resort comprising about 12 cottages. Everything in the cottage was spotless and in immaculate condition. There was a sunny terrace with a barbecue. Abi and Rob, the owners, could not be more welcoming and helpful. The grounds are extensive with a series of lakes for fishing and peaceful strolling and contemplation. The nearest village Kilkhampton has a couple of pubs for eating and places for food shopping. Bude, which is the nearest town has lots to enjoy: beaches, canalside, museum/gallery, restaurants and some lovely boutiques for such items as handmade jewellery, local crafts, candles, soaps, scarves and other accessories. The cottages are also close to a beautiful National Trust managed beach with cafe for breakfast/lunch. What not to like?
