Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really wonderful stay from start to finish, the staff couldn’t have been more attentive and heading to the beach even on a cold day is such a treat! Make sure you do the oyster happy hour and English wine at 5- we loved the itinerary, but loved that it was all optional!

Where to even begin? The Gallivant exceeded all our expectations and raised the bar for luxury boutique resorts and hotels. The property is beautifully decorated and maintained. When we arrived, our room was not yet ready, but Lindsey greeted us warmly, made us feel so welcomed, and already had a plan! She promptly suggested a blanket for the beach along with a burlap bag filled with metal bottles of champagne and cocktails. We had ridiculous footwear, so wellies were provided for our sandy trek. The bartender, Jonathan, who prepared our lovely drinks, made a fantastic old fashioned and suggested a glorious British sparkling wine. When it was ready, our room was immaculate and had a soft radio station playing. We did not know about their no plastic mindset and were impressed by the metal water bottles provided in our room. The bar set up was fantastic, even including a fresh lime for in-room cocktails! Happy hour and dinner blew us out of the water! Fresh oysters and English wines, fabulous conversation with Jonathan, and absolutely first-class dishes from the extremely talented Taylor, were the basis for our perfect Gallivant evening. We also were spoiled by the kindness, professionalism, and joy that Cihat brought to us throughout our stay. He is a great server and overall sweet and interesting human. He was training a new member of the team, Chris, who also was top notch. The bed was comfortable, and the sleepy time tea was just perfect. We signed up for Yoga in the morning with Katie. She was caring and an expert yogi! We loved her class so much, we attended twice during our two day stay. On day two, we also met Naketa and Ellesia who provided superb service and anticipated our needs. Honestly, I just cannot say enough about the high quality of care and service every staff member provided. Jonathan spoiled us rotten, Cihat was a joy to be around, Katie kept us flexible and relaxed, and Taylor should be ranked on a best chef’s list! On our last day, Lindsey was there to send us off happy, despite our resistance to go. We will 100% be back. The Gallivant definitely has something special going on! Thank you!!

Amazing place, can’t believe we have never discovered before now. Will be our place to come & relax at from here on in Ambience, attention to detail & staff are all outstanding Quality of the interior of the rooms, venue & total place is superb Food is excellent, as is the choice of wines. It feels like a very well thought out place. We felt as though we were very special from the moment we arrived till the moment we left Sitting in the snug playing games in the afternoon was so relaxing. Love that you have special touches such as cake at 4pm & wine at 5pm The water available at all times was great. Rooms are very well maintained & decorated. The only problem we had was that the extractor was on all night so was quite noisy. But that’s the only thing that we felt could have been changed. Loved how you thought about sustainability & the environment in how you deliver a service It is a beautiful place & can see how hard you’ve worked towards getting it that way. Will be back

My partner and I had the BEST stay here. From the minute we walked in, we were blown away by how lovely it was. So peaceful, cosy and the staff were all amazing! We extended our stay just hours after checking in. It is without a doubt the best hotel experience we have both ever had. Cannot commend the staff enough for their hospitality. Left us feeling extremely relaxed. Will definitely be staying here again and would highly recommend it to anybody!

This must have been our 6th or 7th visit and everything was superb as always. Had two of the most fantastic meals we have experienced in any restaurant. Special thanks to Lindsay for helping arrange an impromptu second night stay when we decided we didn’t want to go home! Her professionalism, warmth and humour are a credit and will keep us coming back.

We stayed for the night for Valentines, opting for the full Gallivant experience including breakfast and also had the special Valentines menu. We were welcomed very warmly by Lindsay who gave us a useful tour. The bedroom was a tad small for our tastes but beautifully fitted out and furnished. If it had not been raining we would have enjoyed our little private terrace. The provision of teas and coffees in the excellent lounge areas was great and we liked that there were games and plenty of interesting reading matter. The included cake for residents was delicious and the included glass each of Flint Dry White Wine from Chapel Down was appreciated. We enjoyed our cocktails and took advantage of the Oyster Happy Hour. The range of high quality English spirits was impressive. The valentines menu was excellent with a magnificent duck main course. Some great wines too from a very good list with loads of English wines. Our breakfast was one of the best we have ever had anywhere (and we have had a lot!) and the granola superb. We bought some to take away. Sevice was excellent and charming throughout. Lindsay the customer service manager was absolutely brilliant, very charming and very funny. She is a credit to the business. Also the chap on the bar (Turkish, ddn't get his name) and breakfast service was really good. We really like the sustainable local sourcing ethos and things like the Belu water. Very much to be applauded.

Such a lovely stay in such a gorgeous hotel! My husband and I wanted a last minute Sunday night getaway to just relax and take some time out of busy schedules, and The Gallivant was the perfect place for this. Great location, and such a lovely feel as soon as you walk into the reception area. The interior and little details were beautiful, all staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming throughout. We both had a full body massage and the treatment room for this set in the gardens, was such a gorgeous space! Our therapist Ruth was brilliant! The brand they use for the treatments was lovely, as a facialist I appreciate good brands for treatments and it did not disappoint. We spent the next morning attending the Yoga class followed by a delicious breakfast before checking out. Would highly recommend a stay at The Gallivant! Already looking forward to staying again sometime!
