Hotel is beautiful, its rooms spacious. Instead of stairs, access to the hotel from the street is up a long stone ramp. Good breakfast. Hotel is near the town’s plaza, so there may be some noise. Helpful staff. Recommended.

A surprisingly good hotel in this area. Lovely staff, very comfortable and clean rooms set in a lovely garden. We ate a memorable meal of Langoustines. We remember our stay fondly after nearly 5 weeks in Mexico. We do remember being woken at 6am with the church bells ringing Jingle Bells LOUDLY. That wouldn't be an issue now though! The views are breathtakingly spectacular! Spend the extra for one of the rooms on the cliff overlooking the canyons. You are steps from a lot of fun things, like the local market and zip lines, and cable cars. Excellent! The food on our package deal was very mediocre and was served buffet style. We talked to the manager and he...

I had the pleasure of staying at this quaint hotel in October on a business trip for Travel agents. Birthplace of Zoro. It's a wonderful hotel with a great bar and outdoor area and pool. They also have entertainment and tons of hummingbirds in the Bar area. The rooms are charming and spacious and up to date with all modern...

We stayed here before and after riding El Chepe to Posada Barrancas and Creel. Nov 26 and 29, 2016. What a beautiful hotel! Spacious inner courtyard, very nice restaurant, bar and tables poolside and attractive, well maintained and clean rooms with large bathroom and shower. Pillows and mattresses very comfortable and quiet at night. The hotel is very near the...

Rip off?!?!!? Its definitely a three star- food mediocre, cement patches in interiors, low water pressure, raggy towels, cleaner coat hangers. Which is all fine when prices are three star- we were there to board the train to the copper canyon and enjoy the town. The problem is the food and specially the drink prices! Over double any hotel/bar around...

We stayed here overnight with a tour group. It's a beautiful hotel, lush grounds and El Fuerte is a lovely small town. We wish that we had more time to spend there. The grounds were nicely kept, the rooms were clean and the beds were a bit firm for my liking but not hard. The Restaurant was very inviting and...

We spent one night here our trip to Copper Canyon. A wonderful hotel. The ambience in the restaurant just fantastic, as was the food. Great bar and such an inviting pool. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Zorro - such a tease - but fun. We would definitely return here.

We spent the firsts of 5 nights touring the Copper Canyon. This was our firsts stop. Lovely hotel and Zorro is ever present. At the yellow onyx bar that was lit from underneath (very cool) to the rows of Zorro Tequila, and the statute of Zorro in the gardens, you know they keep this legend alive. We had a lively...

Posada del Hidalgo is a beautiful colonial mansion. This attractive structure was built in 1890 by Don Rafael Almada, a wealthy and influential "alcalde" (mayor) who spent five years and 100,000 gold pesos on its construction. The wooden trim was made from 285 Canadian red pine beams. Don Rafael's mansion was the largest and most beautiful in El Fuerte. It was built just below the old fort, and has four layers of brick and adobe construction. The iron work was brought from Mazatlan. ... more   less
