Santa Teresa is a great option for visiting Machu Pichu. You will avoid the costly train fees which are priced appx 200x more than what the locals pay. Overall the room was clean. The building seemed recently finished. Very few extras other than one small night table and a small tv, no internet. During this trip we drove from Lima...

1 minute away from "Los Indios" restaurant (great eating), 1 minute away from train tickets, 1 minute away from small grocery stores. Clean but warm. We left our bikes and stuff for one more night free of charge. Angel the owner was very drunk one night, his wife had to handle everything for us. If not for this I would...

The climate is warmer, less of a tourist trap as Aguas Calientes, much cheaper, and the hot springs in Cocalmayo are the best in the region! This hostal is run by a family and we received excellent attention. The rooms are basic and typical for a hostal but clean...

Got there on a Wednesday night in March. Nice enough room, although the bathroom light switch was in the shower !?! Short ride down to the hot springs, and they were nice enough to let us store our motorcycles in the lobby. Down side was the disco next door, loud music till midnight, loud voices till 2am, then the dogs...

Bare bones bed and bathroom. But this is probably the best/only hostel in Santa Teresa. Cost us (September 2011) 50 soles for two people. Don't expect much but a place to stay and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Hot water available at night, strong shower. Comfortable beds. Was quiet when we stayed there. Biggest drawback, they allow smoking in the lobby...
