I started my trip to Thailand in Chiang Mai and stayed at POR Thapae Gate for 4 nights. Upon check in, I received a very warm welcome from the staff at the desk. I was given a tour of the hotel and walked to my room. I felt very welcomed and appreciated. The hotel is very nice and modern looking, with a good sized pool and a good amount of seating around it. The common area/lounge is situated in front of the pool, in the lobby and next to the front desk. The rooms are very nice looking, modern and new. The beds are comfy and the room is equipped with a TV and connected to the internet for browsing and YouTube Streaming. What I liked most about this hotel is the FREE breakfast that runs from 7am to 10am. The quality of food is great and the selection is amazing. POR also has 24 hour snacks, fruit, drinks and amazing yogurt all day and night for patrons. Great for midnight snacks and cravings. POR staff were able to book me a trip to an elephant sanctuary and a bus to Pai with a pick up from the hotel. Both experiences were amazing. The location of the hotel is great for people who enjoy exploring restaurants, bars, Temples and night markets. There's at least one night market in different parts of the neighbourhood each day of the week. Staff are very knowledgable on the area and what is available so feel free to ask them. They are very nice and kind. I ended up coming back to stay an extra 3 nights at the same hotel after my trip to Pai because of my great experience. POR also provides guests with a FREE bike rental. This is a great way to explore the neighbourhood and visit as many temples and the area in little time.

This is a new hotel with very comfortable rooms. The bathroom is large. The breakfast included was an excellent spread with choice's to suit. I had grilled pork with lightly spiced egg muffin and sticky rice with banana that was scrumptious. If you just want eggs and toast then that is available as well.
All day, tea and coffee is available as well as fruit juice and fruit. The hotel is environmentally friendly with reusable glass bottled for juice and water rather than plastic. I highly recommend it and will stay here again if the opportunity arises.

It is a small hotel with real boutique feel. Well located, extremely attentive service, comparing (better) than many 5* properties.

Room is spotless, breakfast is smart variety of tasty food and location is very central to have most of Chang Mai on walking distance.

Great location, great breakfast for vegans, super staff and a great value. The staff went above and beyond to make sure you were comfortable. As vegans we were well taken care of at breakfast- their homemade jam is awesome! They also have real coffee :) They have a commitment to being eco friendly -
Water refill stations on every floor. Value for money can’t be beat! Modern, clean and highly recommended

I would consider POR as a true home away from home. Excellent breakfast with good variety of local and Western dishes and there are attempts to refresh some of the dishes each day to bring some variety. All dishes felt like home-made. Excellent service by the crew in giving suggestions and making us feel at home. Whenever we need help eg the mattress needed to be changed, our need is being looked into almost immediately. Same goes for our TV as we were to trying to get some of the channels working. Excellent Wi-Fi throughout. All efforts geared towards sustainability is very much appreciated eg glass bottles with bottomless refills, not only at the pantry but also on each floor. Trash is being sorted both in common areas and in our room. Location of the hotel is excellent; it is so central yet so hidden hence it is not noisy at all. One added plus point is the famous Chiang Mai Sunday Market is right at the door step! After surveying the most popular souvenir items eg elephant soft toys, elephant pants etc., the cheapest can be obtained from this very market! POR is also very close to many eateries and two of the most famous temples in the Old City is within walking distance from the hotel ie Wat Chedi Luang and Wat Phra Singh.
Disliked · The beds need to be upgraded to a more supportive mattress than currently used.

Loved the location of this new hotel, easy walking distance to great food and drinks, right on the Sunday Walking Street for the market Sunday night, close to many of the famous Wats. Close to many other markets and other great attractions. Breakfast had just the right mix of local and western options , staff were very friendly and helpful. rooms where clean and comfortable, the hotel is great value for money and has some great sustainable ideas in place. Would definitely stay here again.

Good - excellent location in the heart of Chiang Mai, walkable distance to a lot of things to do. Room was clean and modern, and the shower was great. Breakfast was good too. Like lots of places in the area, they offer laundry services, which we used and we’re happy with.

Could be better - light issues in the room at night. I find it hard to sleep with any light in a room, so we had to cover up the TV light, the air conditioning display and, ironically, the do not disturb button. Also, the curtain did not cover one side of the window, so we had to manually press it closed with the amenities box stacked on top of the bin.

The room was very clean and housekeeping cleaned the room everyday. There was a mini fridge with water and coke zero foc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location and environment of the hotel makes me felt safe as a solo traveller. Coffee, tea and water were available for guests at all times of the day at the pantry. Breakfast was superb, with a wide variety of choices and are very delicious. There were basic amenities like toothbrush, toothpaste, bath gel, shampoo, shower cap and slippers. Its good value for money and I enjoyed coming back to a clean room everyday.

This place is a hotel that feels very much like home.
I had a very pleasant, safe, and sound long stay here.

Cozy, clean, beautiful room/facilities. The bed and pillows are super comfortable.
The location is superb since it's close to the city, full of local restaurants if you walk around (gem!) But unexpectedly serene and peaceful.
Unlike staying in downtown, no noisy street sounds.
I lovee the shower. The water pressure is strong but perfect for me. Saved so much time washing my hair lol
Can't get enough of dipping in the salt pool at 4pm looking at all the green plants surrounded by.
They also promotes sustainability so water refill is provided. Bring your own bottle!

Most importantly the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Good energy hotel!
Can't wait to come back here again next time I need a retreat :)
Please survive through the covid ! Will recommend this hotel to friends and families💫

So glad we booked our stay at the POR Thapae Gate hotel for our recent week long visit to Northern Thailand. The location is close to the center of action in the city but quiet. The rooms were clean, comfortable; the amenities were substantial and the staff was helpful, gracious, and brought a degree of Thai hospitality

Things we loved:
* Staff who greeted us every time we came into the lobby with a Thai greeting.
They were so helpful with info on local temples, restaurants, things to do… going above just info and each time pulling up the computer map to show us exactly where to go with suggestions on what to do. They also helped us book a great driver to visit Doi Suthep and also our ride home to the Airport.

* We were greeted each morning with Thai greetings from the staff and a Lucious breakfast. It began with great coffee with an incredible buffet of hot and cold foods… from the fresh fruits and breads to the 6+ hot items. We loved that you included local dishes like satays and Northern Sausage as well as the daily Thai soup and the featured warm Thai dish with rice. Honestly some of our best meals in Thailand were at the hotel for breakfast.

* Fresh bottled water available 24 hours a day in the lobby and thru Water dispensers on every floor (Cold, fresh (room temperature), and hot).

* Rooms that were well appointed with sufficient power outlets, lighting and efficient air-conditioning. Also enjoying the option of the balcony with screen for fresh air in the morning and evening.

* A saltwater pool that was refreshing for a dip and lovely to sit around for breakfast and in the evening.

* As mentioned before, a location that was central to a lot of desirable Chiang Mai attractions but down an alley that provided a quiet place to sleep.

* Again - your staff. So accommodating and welcoming!
