Double-Gate Farm is situated in a pleasant position on the Somerset Levels, with fine views to the Mendip Hills. Double-Gate is a comfortable listed Georgian Farmhouse. We don't farm ourselves now but instead presently rent the farm out to other farmers. Somerset is a county full of surprises. An abundance of caves, gorges, waterways, wildlife, traditional crafts, beautiful gardens and memories of time past. It's all here waiting for you.

Due to lockdown, we chose to have an afternoon tea delivered to us by doublegate farm. Reasonably priced with good selection of delicious finger sandwiches, cakes, scones and puds, it went down really well with champagne in the back garden. Thanks doublegate for helping to make our celebrations special, despite the lockdown.

Excellent value for money. We loved our Riverside room which was very clean and spacious with patio doors onto a small patio area which overlooked the River. The bathroom/wet room was very large and suitable for able bodied as well as people with disabilities. The room itself had a very efficient ceiling fan which had only a slight hum. It also had a fridge as well as device charging points. Breakfasts, which were pre ordered the night before, were sizeable and freshly cooked offering a range of options including a healthy bowl of fresh fruit. Nothing was too much trouble for Debbie and her father who was keen to know that the eggs were cooked to our liking. The garden was very well manicured with additional outbuildings including a guest laundry. The location was excellent for getting to Wells and the surrounding areas in the Mendips and beyond.

Stayed in a Riverside suite, it was absolutely beautiful, the rooms are exceptionally large with huge wet rooms.
Debbie the owner greets her guests with tea & cake which is just a lovely touch.
Breakfast is freshly cooked & was delicious, all cooked by Debbies Dad, he makes the most delicious Poached & Scrambled eggs.
This place Is truly amazing in a quiet secluded setting but with the added bonus of a gastro pub next door called The Sheppey.
I will definitely be back in the not too distant future.

We had an excellent stay at this B&B. The location was very convenient to Wells, Cheddar and Glastonbury. Our riverfront room was large, well-furnished and spotlessly clean with a balcony overlooking the river and surrounding farmlands. The excellent breakfast was cooked to order from a menu selected in advance each day. We also had the opportunity to enjoy the afternoon high tea, which was outstanding. Deb and her staff are very friendly and helpful. We also had a great evening meal at the village pub (The Sheppey) next door. Overall, we had an excellent experience at Double-Gate Farm and gladly recommend it.

Lovely B&B. Rooms were really nice. Bathrooms are also suitable if you have any type of physical disability so my 82 year old mum was happy. Really nice breakfast too. Lots of tea & coffee etc in your room. Lovely peaceful setting. To top it all they are dog friendly. 🐶

So sad, a nice enough setting but staff and owners who have no clue about running a business.
Pre booked a table for lunch for 9, 5 adults and 4 kids, asked when booking if we could eat off the lunch menu, yes was the answer. Arrived bang on time, sat down and ordered drinks, two tables of two outside and nobody else. Drinks arrived, they took the food order , we asked if they were doing the all day breakfast, " of course we are" six sandwiches and two breakfasts and some chips.
Half an hour went by, nothing appeared. An hour went by still nothing, after 95 minutes the food started appearing, that took 15 minutes to serve and by the time the last sandwich got to us the first eaters had finished. They forgot the toast with the breakfast, forgot the orange juice with the breakfast and then when we eventually got the bill thy tried to charge for those and two extra teas and coffee that were part of the breakfast price.
How it takes 95 mi9nutes to serve two breakfasts, chips and s sandwiches remains a mystery.
At no time was there anybody saying there will be a delay, no apology for keeping us waiting, the staff just ran around in ever decreasing circles.
When we paid and asked why everything took so long we were met with animosity which just made thigs worse. “ we did our best” Best is clearly just about a mark of 1/10.
On arrival we were told how business was so slow and the holiday lets were empty, if this is how they treat customers that’s not a surprise.
The moral of the story, if you can’t do it properly don’t do it at all, letting amateurs loose in the hospitality and catering business simply doesn’t work.
Get your act together or just close it till you find some management and staff capable of delivering some kind of customer service, until they do and AVOID this place is my strong recommendation.

What a great find! Hidden along one of the country lanes is DoubleGate Farm B&B run by Debbie with the help of hubbie and Dad Terry, lovely family run business. Very friendly and efficient. We only stayed 2 nights, but perfect from start to finish. Great touch of homemade cake on arrival ( they also have a tea room on site) We stayed in the four poster bedroom in farmhouse, massive room with massive ensuite. Breakfast was excellent and cooked fresh to order. Debbie was very helpful with local knowledge, gave us a discount voucher fir The Budhops Palace in Wells and recommended a fantastic place ( actually next door!) fir us to eat. Great experience all round 👍 🤩

A peaceful and restful 4 night stay in one of the most picturesque places in the UK. Double Gate Farm is in the midst of the Somerset Levels next to the meandering River Sheppey. Welcoming and accommodating hosts, from the time we arrived we were made to feel at home, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation itself was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Ideally situated, a short drive takes you into Glastonbury or Wells. An absolutely perfect short break! we will book again 😊

We visited Double Gate Farm b&b for 3 nights in order to attend a family wedding. The room was a triple, river room which had a very spacious wet room adapted for a wheelchair user. We booked this room for the extra space as we do not use a wheelchair. It has a private patio area which has river and field views. Very comfortable, clean and quiet! Our breakfast was delicious and had a good choice. They also serve very good coffee which is very important to me.
Debbie and her (Family) staff were so lovely. We felt totally comfortable there and left knowing we would be going back!

My sister and I recently spent a week at Double-Gate Farm b&b, which is ideally situated for visiting Glastonbury, Wells, Cheddar Gorge and numerous wildlife reserves. We found it to be welcoming and efficiently run. Our twin room was clean and spacious with large patio doors opening onto a terrace bounded by an attractive dyke beyond which was a field and open countryside. The beds were comfortable and Debbie had thoughtfully provided everything you might possibly need, from spare blankets to a large umbrella. Being all on one level and equipped with an excellent wet room it would make a perfect stay for a disabled person. A hearty breakfast with plenty of choice was served by Debbie and her dad in the tea room. An excellent evening meal can be had in the pub next door. We would thoroughly recommend Double-Gate Farm to anyone looking for a peaceful holiday in the heart of the English countryside.
