We recently spent one night at the Maypole and chose it because the price was much better than one of the major 'chains' - the room was large and the bed was comfortable, although it was essential to look out for the low beams! Although there were a few things which were in need of modernisation, the room, being at...

Called in here on our way back from a day out walking. Before we ordered drinks we double checked with the bar staff that food was being served, we were told that it was. Drinks service was slow, but we took our drinks and found a table. We found the whole pub to be unloved and in desperate need of...

Enjoyed a tasty good value for money Sunday roast. The beef was a little overcooked but tasted good and lots of veg and homemade Yorkshire puddings. The staff were friendly and helpful although obviouslly busy. Will call in again. P.S. Well served and kept beer.

A very good pub with excellent food and service. The food was very hot and brought in on hot plates. The staff are very friendly and couldn't do enough! Nothing more to say except we will be there again next week.

We stopped here for a drink on the way to the Lakes, and thought it seemed that nice that we stopped for lunch on the sunday we were travelling back. The service took a little while, not because of lack of effort but because all drinks, food orders, bringing of food, taking away of plates etc were done by one...

Visited because of Tastecard, the new owners have recently taken over the Maypole and they have a full menu, with a specials board and have on going offers including 2 for 1 and happy hour. We ate off the main menu and the quality was very good. We will certainly return

On way home from a day in the lakes yesterday, my husband and I came across this public house whilst looking for a snack to eat on our way home. As we walked in, we were greeted by the lovely Kim whose smile and greeting warmed the room, along side a nice roaring fire on a rather chilly February day....

Warm welcome and quickly directed upstairs to room. I had asked for a quiet room, as had noted previous comments about road noise, and was pleased to be allocated a room at the rear. Inn is located on the junction with a main highway and I could hear road noise, but nothing at all excessive. There appears to be 6...
