the George is imbued with the spirit of laughter and conviviality gained from hundreds of years welcoming locals and travellers alike into its cosy stone flagged rooms, warmed by twinkling fires, the clatter of pint pots and excited chatter......and the tradition continues in the good hands of Jackie and Ed, the most affable and inclusive landlords you could hope to...

Spent last weekend here to celebrate a friends special Birthday. I had not visited for a year but the welcome from Ed and Jacky was as warm as ever. The food was excellent as was the wine. I had the pie on the first night and the Sunday Roast the next day. Both excellent. Hopefully it won't be another year...

Wow what a find ! More dogs than humans! Very friendly old fashioned pub , didn't know these pubs still existed. Will definitely be returning! Well worth finding if your in the area of kettlewell. Didn't have food but the locals raved about it, always a good sign.

Ed is perhaps the most affable innkeeper I've encountered. Playful and attentive, he serves up astonishingly good food and manages to keep three fresh handpulls in a place that's "little more than the George, and old bridge, and an older church." The minute I stumbled into the George, I was greeted with a smile and beer. The room was clean,...

What a great find. This is a beautiful spot, surrounded by fantastic and stunningly scenic walks, and at the start and finish is a belter of a pub. Delicious and well kept local beers. Can't wait to return to try the award winning pies and stay over, they have 8 rooms and we will be back

What an amazing welcome we got here. The landlord was most hospitable, he insisted on using our first names, would n't let us sit outside in the cold despite us having a dog with usand even his dog shared his toys with our mutt. And oh by the way the food and drinks were excellent.

This was our first time staying at the George for a number of years and the first time with our dogs. It has changed ownership and the new landlord and landlady are lovely. A genuinely friendly welcome and a lovely room next to the old coach-house. I was expecting it to be a bit cold but it was really cosy...

Arrived on Friday to a very warm welcome from Jackie and Ed and of course the resident Jack Russell George. Our room is spacious and we even have our own sitting room. Direct access to the grassy car park was perfect for early morning and late evening dog business. The food has been amazingly good. Highlights being Homity pie on...

A group of three friends, we had dinner on a Saturday night. I hadn't been to the George for a few years and wasn't expecting anything much, aside from the lovely location and cozy bar. HOWEVER, there has been a change of landlord and the new people are doing a great job.. Very warm and genuine welcome and very tasty...

A warm welcome on a cold November day. The landlord could not have been more hospitable. The small and cozy bar with a roaring fire was a perfect setting for lunch. The menu was refreshingly short and un-fancy with three daily specials on the board. I chose the liver, bacon and bubble and squeak which was hearty, tasty and ample...
