We have previously, some time ago, enjoyed some nice lunches here but had a horrible lunch in September. We ordered chicken burger, it was a bland frozen type tasteless piece of chicken, in a dry roll with no butter, mayonnaise or dressing and a pathetic excuse for salad - some limp, tired lettuce on the side, the chips were ok,... Initially we thought we would eat from restaurant menu but at £20 or more for a main course we dedicated to eat from bar menu. Good choice as the scampi was the best I've ever eaten! The lemon wedge had paprika on edge which mixed with lemon juice when squeezed :). The Malteser ice cream crepe was very good but... More

My husband and I had the good fortune to stay here for two nights and I only wish it had been longer. The staff is so incredibly nice, a terrific source of local information and directions, and every one of them had a great sense of humor. I cannot understand the last sour review about the food- it was just... More

I had good fortune to stay at Borve Country House during a business trip to Stornoway. Unfortunately, it was only for a single night. The hotel is located on the north west coast about 30 minutes from Stornoway. The hotel comprises nine rooms, plus some self catering chalets, a bar (not open when I stayed) and a restaurant. My rooms... More

If you must stay here, then don,t eat here. The worst, most appalling food I have ever eaten. Tartare sauce like cat sick, battered squid that would be better to mend your tyres with than to dare to eat. Soulless place designed to efficiently take your money than to care if you are happy with your stay. Overpriced in all... More

Easily the nicest hotel we stayed in during our tour of the Western Isles. It's modern and stylish, spotlessly clean with excellent food. Checked in on a wet and windy afternoon and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. We had a twin room on the first floor which has the nicest and furniture I've seen in a hotel... More

Booked this late when trying to find accommodation in Stornoway but everything there was full due to the local music festival. It's 30 mins drive out of Stornoway which wasn't ideal for our needs. The hotel exterior is unremarkable but we had a very nicely furnished, stylish and spacious room. Our stay was very brief as we were in late... More

We like to have a quiet drink in lounge before and after dinner no lounge just a bar with snooker table and TV food very good but dinning room was like walking into a cafe, room was nice and spacious and quiet. Breakfast bar was poor, hardly any choice. Disappointing

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay in this hotel. We were surprised with it being called a 'Country House Hotel' as it was set just off the road, and although in nice surroundings, with a super play park for children, it didn't feel like a country house hotel. Our room and bathroom were lovely - very clean, spacious, well... More

Stayed at this friendly hotel on the first part of our 40th wedding anniversary. The staff were fantastic. The room clean, comfortable and the bathroom very spacious. The meals were excellent, I must recommend the fish and chips, the fish was out of this world with a fantastic crispy batter. Portion sizes huge. Have a go at the traditional breakfast,... More
