We had read some negative reviews about this hotel and so were pleasantly surprised by location, cleanliness, size of rooms, balconies and views (all of town square, but the gorgeous lake to one side). Everything else negative was, I'm afraid, very true. The owner does not seem happy to open her doors, welcome people and make their stay happy, restful, easy and welcoming. The hotel is locked when she goes out (most of the day and all evening from 7ish) so you have to have your key with you (only 1 per room) or you can get locked out, or even in, as happened a couple of times to us. It wouldn't take much, if she has to lock it in this way, to have a self locking mechanism to go out, however the whole arrangement is painful and irritating. The owner was perfunctory, brusque, rude and unhelpful in every way. We had a small gas cooker so we could cook on the beach (as barbecues were understandably banned) and instead of talking to us about it, she reported us to booking.com who had to call and email us during our holiday accusing us of cooking in our rooms, it was ridiculous and so rude. The wifi was awful and at one point it got shut down so when restarted, none of our codes worked and she argued with our children and then us before giving us any more. The cleaners were very good, however one day my 16 y/o son was in the room and said no when the cleaner knocked to clean. The madam unlocked the door and came in again telling him the cleaning had to be done and sent a man in. She was rude to all of our children. She took away the chairs outside in the evening so we couldn't sit in the early evening making our plans, she then used her alsation dog to intimidate us on the last night when we were making plans for a last meal, she turned all the outside lights off. I gave her three ice packs, she only gave two back and when i said there were three she started speaking back in French - which was what she resorted to whenever things got difficult, finally a parcel was delivered for me and and she didn't bother to say anything, put a sign up etc so I left without knowing it had arrived. I've been emailing to get it sent on and she is quoting triple the cost to send it back to me! I really think she is not cut out for the service industry, perhaps security would be more suitable. It genuinely did spoil our holiday. What a horrible woman

Perfect location in the middle of the village and close to beautiful lake. Room was very clean and had a large bed, however interior in need of a refresh. Bathroom was particularly difficult as no way to have a stand up shower! Did not try breakfast, lots of places near by to buy food. Village market on Thursday morning was worth a visit.

We spent two nights in this hotel. The hotel was an old and very ordinary but it was clean and cozy and the prize was very readonable too. Madam in reception doesn't speak English very well but we were able to handle our thing quite good. The second night there was somekind of festival in front of the hotel and it quite noisy night. It would have been nice if madam in reception would have mentioned from this festival.

This hotel is right in the middle of the village of Les Salles and some rooms have views of the Sainte Croix lake which is quite frankly stunning. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and polite Polish lady, she turned out to be a member of staff/possibly cleaning lady who was looking after reception for a few minutes. However, when her boss returned to take her place the welcome cooled somewhat. I booked on Booking.com and just wanted to check that we had a view of the lake (the main reason I chose this hotel) but was told that we have a 'view' of the village despite the room being a 'superior'. The 'view' turned out to be of the car park that fronts the hotel, and was near the main street end of the building. On booking.com my room specified 'view' which, naturally I imagined would be a lake view not a view of a car park(!), how difficult would it be for Booking.com to put NO VIEW OF LAKE from this room on the website? Our hostess then insisted on calling Booking.com and then insisted I speak to them. By this time my GF and I just wanted to check in so we could visit the lake and nearby area and relax, not have an heated discussion or be put in our place! So we let it go (with a smile) as all other hotels would have been full anyway and we drove to this beautiful part of the world to relax! The room was very clean, the spotless en-suite bathroom with separate WC was very spacious with a full size bath, the whole thing was slightly dated but kind of cosy. The cleaning staff certainly work hard here as it was absolutely gleaming! We had a balcony but didn't spend much time there as it was above the hotel entrance, in view of the car park and main street/market, so not very private or relaxing. The bedding was good though, although If you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs if not you'll hear the plumbing whenever someone has a shower etc! We didn't try the breakfast as there are a few cafés/restaurants and a bakery just next to the hotel (we had a great evening meal in the restaurant on the main corner, superb pizzas and friendly staff). The lake is just a few minutes walk from the hotel and is of course an absolute must-see (especially if you can't see it from your room!), although it's quite a steep climb on the way back (steps). If I did go back I would probably book directly from the hotel to be sure of a room with lake view (I recommend booking well in advance too).

We showed at the hoteltogetsomeinformation about the services they provide. I could hardly speak, the woman at the counter, a grumpy stiffly blond, interrupted me to say they'd refuse us. I think the welcome is a major part in a hotel... Fortunately, we had a better welcome a few meters away.

We stayed for two nights, the location is perfect for doing a circuit of Verdon Gorge. The hotel is clean, pretty and Nicole was lovely to us and helped us make the most of our stay helping us pick out places to visit. Our room on the top floor with a balcony looking out over the lake was beautiful, we could even sit out on it for breakfast as breakfast can be brought to the room for no extra charge. The room was spotless and clean, it even had a fan in which was a relief as it was so hot. A kettle and tea and coffee would make it perfect, especially if you want to sit out on the balcony for a drink. Other than that, could not fault it very reasonably price.

Firstly, the hotel is in a good location; if you can stand noise at night. Our room was facing the bars and restaurants to the back of the hotel so was noisy at night (even with the window closed) but it's easy to find and park a car. The hotel and room were clean and tidy, there was a bit of a smell coming from the toilet room but i'd put that down to old plumbing. Despite other reviews, we found the manageress fair and reasonable. Breakfast was expensive and you probably could find one better and cheaper close by. Internet - difficult to connect initially but my partner could when he went downstairs. My phone wouldn't connect at all. It's an average hotel; if you are looking for something a bit special then this isn't the place for you but if you just want a clean place to sleep for a few nights while you explore the fantastic scenery then it's perfect.

Good things first: Very central and close to the lake. The room was quite small, and some lamps were already broken - interior is a bit old. The hotel is really noisy - everything is to hear. The reception is available only limited time. The price was not appropriate.

I and my girlfriend stayed here for one night. We got the best room ever, with a magnificent view on the lake of verdon. The room was very tidy and we slept really good on the bed. The room was very big for French standards with a separate toilet, a bathroom with bath and shower and a balcony with, as I said before, a really great view on the lake of Verdon. The only bad thing about this hotel is the breakfast. Just skip this and go to the local bakery in the village, which is about 50 metres from the hotel. It is REALLY bad.

Had two nights here as it is a lovely spot. The lady owner is not overly helpful, but the room was clean and quite big. Comfortable bed. Clean ensuite. Don't bother with breakfast as it is very overpriced. E9 for baguette or croissant, jam, tea or coffee. Plenty of excellent cafes and restaurants within 2 minutes walk for a good breakfast. Apart from the breakfast, a very good deal.
