Stayed for a local wedding, pub served great food, staff friendly. Great meal on the first night and beautiful breakfast.
Tricky checking in and out which happened at the bar and staff were busy. Had to leave a night early in a hurry and couldn't get anyone to check out.
Rooms quite basic but clean and fine, but quite noisy, could hear toilets, footsteps, voices from neighboring rooms.
Hotel itself lovely and imagine in the summer it would be lovely.

A vwey nice hotel. The hotel was easy to find due to signs being placed at corners. The location and surrounding area is stunning.

The staff were ver friendly throughout my short stay. I was impressed that I could check in to my room two hours early.

The room itself was clean and presentable. The bathroom was decent but the shower was missing its plug hole which didn't help its look. The hot water did take some time to heat up, but the hotel do explain this is possible in the guest handbook and there had also been issues with the hot water supply in the days up to my stay. Free wifi is always a plus.

The hotel has a bar which is very nice, with a smart eating area. The pool table was an added bonus. I didn't eat at the hotel during my stay so I couldn't get an idea of what food prices were like.

The cost of the room was £110 for the night but I was happy with this, considering I was sharing with two other people.

Overall, would definately recommend.

Visited with family for the carvery. Service at the bar was good but the table we were shown to was very sticky. The room was busy and very noisy which meant conversation at our table was difficult.
The food was pretty good. The meats were all well cooked and still juicy but the portion was very small. Choice of veg was basic and the green beans were hard and dry but the gravy was decent.
I didn’t pay but the bill seemed expensive for what we’d had and in all honesty I’ve had better meals for far less money at a Toby Carvery. Not sure we’ll be back.

We visited on a Saturday evening and although the bar was virtually clear of customers it was difficult to get served. We just got told our table and was pointed in the direction from the bar but not offered any drinks before the girl wandered off.
On sitting at the table we found it to be extremely sticky all over which was very off-putting and were pleased to see that the cutlery was at least given in a holder so we could place the pieces straight on our plates.
The rump steaks had been ordered to be medium but were definitely well done with no taste and very chewy but the accompanying vegetables and chips were fine.
The waiter passed our table to and from the kitchen several times once we’d finished our main course and didn’t once ask if he could clear away. We had to ask st the bar when ordering our desserts if someone could please clear the table.
The dessert was nice but nothing special for the price to be honest.
There appears to be very good reviews on the carvery meals so perhaps as they’re local and just started back up we’ll give them another chance but hopefully they’ll have cleaner and less sticky tables.
They also do need to have more staff involved to offer a better service.
One other point is that despite having plenty of lights outside, they were not on in the carpark or driveway which would give a welcoming approach. We hadto find our way back to through the carpark to our car with our phone torch .

I must say this is one of the best carvery I have had. I've been twice now. Once with a fussy father and once with friends. Both left with smiles and full bellies. Your welcomed with a friendly smile and great, fast service. The produce is fresh and they even went above and beyond to stock my favourite drink. I cannot wait for fish Friday.

We had an excellent Sunday Carvery today. Good choice of meats, vegetables, gravy that was to die for and a friendly service. Good value for money. We are a group of six who eat out every few weeks finding Sunday Carvery’s to try, all six of us were impressed and all said we will come back. It has only very recently re opened under new management after being closed for some time so yes there are things that obviously could do with a little updating but this like many things takes time and for how dedicated the staff seem I’m sure this place that is at present a gem will become a diamond.

One of the highlights of my visits has been the Sunday carvery, where the fresh, locally sourced meats and vegetables shine. The quality of the ingredients and the delicious flavors truly set the Sunday carvery apart. It's a testament to the dedication of your kitchen team and their commitment to providing top-notch cuisine.

In addition to the Sunday carvery, I've had the pleasure of dining on other nights and exploring the various options on your menu. Every dish I've tried has been exceptional, and it's evident that your chefs are skilled at crafting diverse and delicious meals.

Another charming aspect of the Hanmer Arms is the cozy bar area, complete with a lovely log burner. It creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that's perfect, especially during this time of year. It adds to the overall ambiance and makes the Hanmer Arms a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy a meal with friends or family.

with new owners finding their footing, I am eagerly looking forward to the future of the Hanmer Arms. I have no doubt that with your commitment to quality and the wonderful experiences you offer, this establishment will continue to thrive and become even more exceptional.

Went there for a Sunday carvery, the meats were all good quality and the chef wasn't tight with it either. Everything else was nicely cooked too and good choice of veg, nice roasties etc. I'd recommend to book if travelling we was lucky as a walk in as was busy.

Called in mid afternoon on Sunday to check this place out. We had the opposite experience to the last review ! Staff were friendly , several families and groups of friends in - some eating some having drinks. Spacious bar area and lounge eating area. Admittedly we called in for a few drinks and nibbles but very reasonably priced. The Sunday roast carvery options looked fab….. so we’ll definitely be back up sample more. I admit pinching a roasty from the carvery but it was nicely cooked and delicious .

On a nice day check out the gardens and outside patio- great to sit out in the sun.

We’ll be back !!

Lovely rooms , nice short walk from the bar. Young waitresses were lovely, Carvery was sumptuous , leeks in sauce omg. Yummy best cauliflower cheese.. much more elevated than the usual pub carvery. Will definitely travel back from Manchester to come and stay again. So much for the money.. 👍🏻. Debbie and Tony
