We stayed in this beautiful hotel for 2 weeks in July, it was so calm and so relaxing, the hotel staff are all professionals, very attentive to the rules of hygiene due to covid- 19, and very helpfull in any question and help. The rooms were increadibly clean and all the rest of the hotel. The main pool is in an area full of trees and swallows flying around. I highly reccomened!! A piece from heaven!

I went to this hotel in July 2020 in need of peace an quiet. I stayed in one of the rooms overlooking the main pool. Rooms lovely an quiet, even round the main pool.

I liked it so much that I returned in September 2020 with my parents and we rented one of the villas. We had Villa Nefeli, which is about five minutes walk from the main hotel. It was utterly beautiful with three bedrooms and its own pool. After a particularly stressful period, Spilia Village provided us with the rest and recuperation we needed.

Sadly the restaurant wasn't open whilst during either of my trips because of Covid. However, there was an extensive breakfast buffet each day, which is outdoors under their beautiful pergola. I was entirely happy with the hygiene provisions made.

If peace, quiet and beauty are what you are looking for, go at once!

Our primary objective is to offer you the best possible experience, thus we are thrilled to see that we have lived up to your expectations! We had a lovely stay here as part of an HF Holidays walking group. We upgraded to a lovely, lovely suite and thoroughly appreciated our room. The program included half board and, as a gluten-free vegan, i was so very thankful to the chef for his efforts on my behalf. We had previously spent a week on a walking holiday in Majorca and i could not eat the breakfast and was given an identical dinner every night - here the chef found all sorts of things that i could eat including making a delicious vegan cheese cake. In addition to the chef, all of the staff were charming and extremely helpful. The entire complex is charming with a lovely pool area under the orange trees.

The hotel is a little out of the way, but it’s absolutely worth going. It will make you want to visit Crete again and again.

We booked a suite. We were given a room (127) that had an intense smell of sewage, was clean only on the surface, but dirty everywhere else, had a balcony on the street and zero view, no internet connection. When we expressed our disappointment at the reception, the receptionist just focused on the internet connection, as if everything else was just normal. And mentioned that not everyone is meant to have a nice view. When we said that we paid extra to get the suite and not just the basic room, she said that "a suite is the room that sleeps more than two people" and that's it. We were two people, why would we pay the extra money to have an extra lousy, dirty sofa bed? And when we commented that anyway, at least a suite or any room should be clean and not smell of sewage, she said that they couldn't do anything about it. Well, that's a nice attitude. And a bad hotel to spend your money at.

Dear _S8507HL, Thank you for choosing Spilia Village Hotel for your holidays and for taking the time to write your review. We are truly disappointed to find out that our hotel room did not fulfill you expectations. Your booking was for a suite, which is a room with a double bed and two sofa beds in the living room area, and the provided room was indeed a Suite. It is only normal that in every hotel there are rooms on ground and upper floor as well, and that the allocation is made based on availability. Besides, the hotel is located in the middle of a small, traditional village and the view is mostly of the neighboring houses. We do understand that each guest has different taste and expectations and we always try to satisfy our guests, however a room change was not possible during your one night stay, as all of our rooms were occupied, which was kindly explained to you from our reception staff. Furthermore, we do find your one star review quite sharp since our staff offered to come and check the matter with the smell and the internet connection in your room but you rejected any of our efforts to make your stay more pleasant in that particular room since there was no possibility of change. And if there is no availability, indeed there is nothing more we could do about it than try and fix any issue in the provided room. Last but not least, it was to our surprise to read about the "lousy and dirty sofa" as our rooms are being checked before each guests’ arrival and not before your entered the room nor after did we find anything like that. We are truly sorry about the outcome of your stay with us and rest assured that we have taken your note under consideration and will make improvements where needed. Kind regards, Your Spilia Village Team

Some of the staff have a bit of an attitude problem. It also seemed mechanical the way the in-house restaurant manager ’Manos’ spoke to us and everyone else. Also he was dominant in his behavior towards the customers making it uncomfortable to say when something wasn’t right. Making it feel like we, the customers, are the problem. He was also favoring customers that responded better to his dominant ways of interacting. We spoke to several other couples there who agreed.
On our first evening we had dinner in-house (the only time). When we got to the outside restaurant area, 2 staff and a random person sat smoking in the nearby bar, no one welcomed us until we stood in front of them looking confused. Went onto having an undercooked burger and a boring pork chop dish. Go to the nearby local restaurants (2 close by). The hotel should keep to breakfast and snack menu and then excel at these while working with the local area for eating out. It already being a village hotel this just makes sense to lift and utilize their surroundings better!
Kudos to ‘GENI’ and ‘Vasillis’ a waiter and receptionist who both were good to us.
The facilities have potential (a lot) but the execution is lacking accordingly. Pool area needs music. The lights around the hotel is something you install in your shed or a backlot with motion sensors. The table tennis area lacks all kinds of mood setting. Talking about the place resembling a shed, that area tops the list. Also the table was broken along with the bats. Use lamps that resemble a flame. Yeah all in all a lot could be done for the setting. You don’t get the feeling of being in a hotel that has the stars they tell you. On paper they achieve the stars, but not in our combined experience of the place.

Dear valuable guest, Thank you for staying at Spilia Village Hotel and for taking the time to share your review online. We would also like to thank you for your kind mention to Geni and Vasilis and for suggesting possible improvements, which will be taken seriously into consideration. We must admit though, that we were really surprised to read your comment about some members of our staff reacting in a dominant way, since the feedback we always receive about our staff implies totally the opposite, that everyone is friendly and caring. Especially Manos, our maître d'hôtel, is considered one of our biggest assets. We are sorry to find out that your experience was different. Besides, we have to note that you only visited the restaurant once, and you had dinner without complaining about anything. Only two days later you came to the reception to report that you did not like the burger and to ask not to be charged for it. Our maitre then explained to you that the burger was already charged (two days earlier!!), but since our guests’ satisfaction is our first priority, he very kindly offered you some free drinks, as a form of compensation, which you denied. So, we cannot really understand how you were not "favored". Once again we thank you for the opportunity to host you and for sharing your comments. Best regards, The Spilia Village Team

Interesting layout as it's a former olive oil mill so rooms are spread around in variuos buildings. I was lucky to be one of a few in the main reception building or close by. Some were much further and over ahump back pedestrian bridge which I believe was difficult to negotiate with wet feet.

3 lovely pools although a little chilly at the end of September and very spacious outside eating area where in a week we ate every meal bar one ouside.

The staff are very helpful and work very hard.

My only downside was breakfast where there wasn't a range of juices or prapared fruit. On our occasion we had just watermelon, tinned fruit cockatil and bunches of grapes although there was a fruit basket available. There was also just one coffee/tea machine with neither beverage being very hot plus at one cup a time it was very time consuming to queue and there was a lot of wastage.

A lovely hotel made up of renovated houses in a typical, quiet, greek village. We had a beautiful pool. The only drawback that we found was the poor quality of the restaurant, both at breakfast and dinner. Other than that, we had a very good time here.

We enjoyed a very quiet two night visit to this classic European-style relaxation resort. Comfortable rooms with an old world style. Beautiful grounds and pool area. A gracious staff that answers your every need and a wonderful daily breakfast buffet with very few equals. Smart health protocols that were observed by almost everyone, save one very arrogant German woman who thought herself better than everyone else.

A superb value for the price point and a probable repeat visit forthcoming.

The hotel was absolutely fantastic, truly exceptional! The staff were incredibly well-trained, making our experience seamless and delightful. Now, about the restaurant – it was a dream! We had the pleasure of dining there for two unforgettable nights. The atmosphere was so inviting, and the manager, Manos , was a true gem. Not only was he a gracious host, but his expertise in wine elevated our dining experience to new heights!
The breakfast, in my opinion, met my expectations quite well.

We were stopping at a villa in the village and went to the hotel for dinner one night. We thought the food was very overpriced and fairly average quality, but it is a lovely location and the staff were excellent and very friendly. I guess its primary purpose is as a hotel rather than as a restaurant.
