I have taken my elderly parents for a holliday and stayed here for a couple of nights. It was our best experience of the trip. For start the price was very atractive and we did not expect much. However, we were overwhelmed. The surroundings are fantastic, the atmosphere unbelievable and the luck of english was rather not a problem due to very genuine and friendly staff. My parents are even harder to please then myself, but we simply could not fault the place. ... Do not tell them, :-) but now, knowing the place I would pay even more to stay there. Very pleasent and enjoyable experiance. The only downside for some may be the 15 km from the centre of Chiang Mai, but there is a lot of to see near by anyway. If you after peace, nature and pleasent environment this is your place. But if you city junkie it may not be your cup of tea. however Perfectly suitable for honeymooners as well as families or elderly couple... hope this review helps

The resort is very handy for Chiang Mai [about 30 minutes to airport etc] but amazingly peaceful with mountains on the horizon and over-looking a lagoon. The rooms are comfy and clean with real baths, TV [ I could only find Thai channels though] and private balconies with lovely views. Grandma's kitchen offered excellent Thai food, a European or Thai breakfast choice and great cakes and coffee during the day plus, best of all, a reasonably priced Aussie wine selection, quite rare in Thailand. Dinner stops at 8pm but this is an early place - get up with the birds, go walking or to one of the many places of interest nearby - orchid farm, monkey school, beautiful wats, relax on your balcony and get an early night. There is a nice little pool with loungers and a bar though January is quite cool for swimming - hot sun at noon but cold water! Take a little boat out onto the lagoon, or borrow a cycle free of charge. This demonstrates how lovely Boat and her family are - one afternoon we borrowed four bikes but found that they were in poor condition and had to bring them back. Boat and her father apologised profusely and said they would buy new bicycles for our use the next day. Cynically I thought this unlikely but by that afternoon 4 brand new bikes with paniers were unloaded from a van. We were out on the bikes next morning and spent a fabulous day cycling round the local villages and joining in a ceremony at the Dalai wat a kilometre away. [ the roads are quiet and flat] The Dalai wat is one of the prettiest wats I'd ever seen and empty of tourists except us. This is a nice place to relax with lovely people - not for bar-hoppers or night clubbers! We left early for the train station and Boat ensured we had a delicious picnic of chicken, noodles, sticky rice and strawberries to eat on the way which was just as welll as food on the train is minimal.

We were recommended this hotel and decided to book because of its location and price. We didn't really know what to expect but were delighted when we arrived. I travel on a triple share basis with my parents regularly and I often get the dodgy foldaway bed...not here!!! A gorgeous, spacious room with THREE king single beds located perfectly to give a little privacy to all. Food has been delightful, staff attentive and location perfect. A great recommendation. Thanks to ll at Mae Rim Lagoon for a wonderful 6 days

My family enjoyed two nights at this beautiful resort and hated to leave. We booked the Triple minisuite and had plenty of room for the four of us. The setting is gorgeous, the food wonderful and the hostess and staff could not be more helpful and friendly. This was the first place we stayed on our two week trip in Thailand and certainly set a high bar fo the remainder of the accomodations at which we stayed. i would certainly return to Mae Rim Lagoon if I ever have the chance to return to Thailand.

We had an amazing 5 night stay with our 2 children at Mae Rim Lagoon. The hotel has been family run for many years and Boat (our host) couldn't have done any more for us. Most of our meals were at the hotel and the food was amazing, home cooked and based on family recipies that would be hard to find elsewhere in the region. We held our son's 9th birthday at Mae Riim Lagoon and it was totally organised and catered for by the hotel ... it was a very personalised experience and my son and all his friends loved it. Thank you Boat for everything. I would highly recommend the Hotel and we can't wait to return.

This hotel is surprisingly affordable and has very comfortable, stylish rooms - ours with it's own balcony and a marvelous view. It's surrounded by a big beautiful garden in which you can eat in privacy in one of the small terraces. The staff and not least the owner was so nice and helpful. Somehow the atmosphere was very calm (well it was low season) and romantic :-) Remember to bring you own vehicle - taxis are not easy to find. Otherwise there is a driver connected to the hotel.

The hotel (more like a resort) is situated on a peaceful landscape with cozy decoration in every corners specially the reception corner by the lagoon. It is good for a weekend to find peace and nature. Love the garden with big trees. I was impress by the newly built swimming pool which I really enjoyed sibbing my beer by the pool side every afternoon.

My husband and I came here for 2 days/1 night last weekend and liked it so much we returned again this weekend. It is away from the highway so the only sounds you hear are the birds and there are a lot here because of the huge lagoon which is filled with pink lotus flowers. The grounds are big and there are lots of places to sit and relax. The food is superb with some very special recipes from the owner's grandma. Everything we have ordered has been delicious. As the owner is not here all the time Sam attends to everyone's needs. He speaks very good English. When we left last weekend all the lady staff came out to the taxi to say goodbye to us.

We asked for Room 203 which is a King (2 singles put together) The mattress is very comfortable and I am particular. It faces out to the lagoon which is the better view. The sheets are crisp cotton, the towels are thick and large. They even offer wash cloths in the room. All in all the best linen we have seen in this part of the country for the money. There is a balcony with swing on each. The rooms are big so the A/C doesn't blow directly on you.
Several pagodas sit beside the lagoon and that is where we eat our breakfast and dinners. If you like to putter around the water there are several small boats. The bakery on site serves great coffees and homemade cookies. We both liked the oatmeal/raisoncookie but the chocolate brownie was delicious too. Each person can choose a cookie upon arrival. Wifi is available on second and third floors and throughout the common areas.English newspapers and current magazines are available. You can walk to several coffee shops nearby or use the bicyles to view the Four Seasons Resort nearby. When we return next year this will be our spot.

This place was above and beyond expectations! Granted, it is not the Four Seasons (which is right around the corner), but the service and food is every bit as good. The property has been around for a while...is being updated gradually...but is more than you could expect for the money. Transporation to local attractions, food is off the charts, people here are unbelievable...great, great, great way to spend your money!

Stayed here for 3 nights with our 5 year old son. It was soooooo relaxing. The staff is fantastic and was so eager to help us get around. They brought us to an elephant camp and a beautiful waterfall for less than a local taxi quoted us. The bakery was great... the croissants and cookies were delicious. The food was reasonably priced for a hotel. If you want a really relaxing and wonderful vacation, come here!
