The Stables is a lovely little hideaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here. It is spotlessly clean and Martin is a superb host. The outside has a chair swing and is a sun trap. Given the glorious weather over the last two days - it was most welcome. Enjoyed hearing the birdsong and pipistrelles flying past the window in the evening. A peaceful home from home. We will definitely be back.

Loved staying here, quaint little place and so close to the cliffs. Martin gave us great walks to do and got some amazing puffin pics! Everything was so easy and breakfast was amazing. The room was immaculate and bed very comfy. Loved seeing Maisie at breakfast too 😁

A lovely detached suite for two. Comfortable and clean. Breakfast - home cooked. Lovely proprietors who are good people and great at looking after their guests. Near to RSPB on the cliffs but many lovely walks on the doorstep. Good for touring the wider area.

We have just stayed 2 nights at Stables B&B. Cost was £60 a night for the room which was OK, but we expected a bit more than the very basic accomodation for that price.
The room is smaller than it looks in the photos on their website, and the twin beds which were described as 'luxurious' in their ad, we would class as 'standard. The bathroom has a nasty smell and very poor plumbing with dripping taps etc. Basic, cheap fittings have been used from the bathroom to the TV.
The breakfast is much exhaulted by some guests. We managed to eat most of it the first night, but forego the breakfast the next day- again basic ingediants, cheap sausages, cheap bread etc served up in a 'conservatory' that is more like a lean/ car port and also had a very nasty mouldy smell- not nice with breakfast.
In conclusion a no frills type basic accomodation which is fine for a couple of nights as long as that is what you are expecting.
The good points- quiet location, very convenient for the Bempton Cliffs RSPB reserve which was superb even in the fog!!

We are very sorry that birdwatcher99 and his partner did not enjoy their stay with us! They are the first in the 8 years we have been here not to like the accommodation or the breakfast we provide, which is a shame because we pride ourselves on ensuring that our guests not only enjoy their stay with us but also want to come back and recommend us to their family, friends and colleagues. As for the twin beds in the bedroom, the frames could possibly be called ‘Standard’ but certainly not the mattresses because we preferred to spend the money on the important bit, comfort. Many of our guest have commented on what a great nights sleep they have had on them and some have even jotted down the manufacturer to enable purchasing one on there return home. We pride our selves on giving our guests the breakfast we would want if we were staying somewhere. At the same time we also try to support local businesses and farms and to this end where possible we source our ingredients from them. The bread is from a well known local baker and the bacon (dry cured), sausage and eggs are all straight from local farms. A lot of our customers buy the sausages from our village shop to take home with them because they enjoy them so much. Our conservatory or sun room is not in any way like a car port as described by birdwatcher99 and the nasty mouldy smell mentioned is a mystery to us, but, could be the result of a hastily mopped floor due to the footprints of our paperboys after they had collected their papers. After this review the taps were checked, the hand basin tap was indeed dripping and is now none drip. The photos of the accommodation are just photos of the accommodation, what more can we say. We have a guest book brimming with compliments about our standard of accommodation, quality of breakfasts and hospitality and continue to receive such comments on a regular basis. Martin and Michelle – Stables Bed and Breakfast Bempton

My wife and I have stayed at the Stables Bed and Breakfast several times now over the last few years.
We love the accommodation because it is quiet and so very comfortable.
It is separate from the main house and is more like a holiday cottage without a kitchen than a traditional B & B.
The host's Martin and Michelle and not forgetting their young son Daniel (now 4) who helps out as the newspaper and Toast waiter, really look after you and nothing is too much trouble.
They have a good knowledge of the local area and will always advise on day trips out and suggest the best routes to take.
Martin’s breakfasts are legendary, or so you would believe from the guest book, if you go for the full English you will not have to eat until Tea Time.
It makes a great base for the surrounding area of the North York moors, Yorkshire Wolds and of course you are right on the East Yorkshire Coast.
We like a good walk and Martin suggested we walk from the village to Filey along the cliffs then on the beach catching the train back to Bempton (yes this lucky village still has a Station). It was a beautiful sunny day and the tides were just right for our stint on the beach (checked by Michelle) we can’t wait to do it again.
The accommodation is great for 2 but can take 4, as the settee in the lounge converts into a comfortable double bed.
The local R.S.P.B centre on Bempton Cliffs is a must to see the 400ft chalk cliffs and the Puffins and Gannets, May, June and July are the best times to see the nesting birds especially the Puffins.

We stayed here for two nights, it's so close to Bempton Cliffs (the reason for our trip) that an enthusiastic walker could do it or as we did an early start ensures you a car parking space at the newly opened visitor centre.
The accomodation is clean and spacious, even having space to sit relax and watch the TV after a big day sight seeing. The shower looked brand new, there is ample tea & coffee and the beds are very comfortable. As happens in Yorkshire it was hot through to cold over our two days, a heater is provided and the bathroom has a very efficient wall heater to make an early morning shower much more pleasant.
Breakfast is HUGE if you take advantage of everything offered, I stuck to just the full English which was delicious.
Martin is an excellent host even finding some sun lotion for my husband when the Yorkshire sun outdid itself and blazed for the morning.
A great base for seeing the sights of Bempton and the surrondings

We stayed here for a few days in June as we have done several times before and had absolutely no problem with the accomodation or the "staff". Can't understand why anyone would complain at all. The location is excellent for RSPB Bempton Cliffs and for the rest of the East Yorkshire Coast. Although neither of us are particularly big breakfast people we do appreciate good quality food and the ingredients in the substantial breakfast are certainly top qaulity products from local suppliers. Furnishing are comfortable and much better than we have seen at many other places. We will no doubt be back again as soon as possible.
PS. Apologies for taking so long to write this review.

We stayed as a couple in April 2023 for 2 nights.

Positives:
- friendly and welcoming hosts
- self-contained accommodation with separate bedroom, bathroom and seating area with sofa and TV
- small fridge provided, which contained fresh milk upon arrival

Issues:
- Unfortunately one quite big issue was the fact that the only useable heating were electric fan heaters - one in bathroom and one plug in one in lounge area. These were very noisy and it was hard to adequately heat the rooms. There were what appeared to be storage heaters mounted on the wall but these never came on.
- The accommodation decor was very dated, particularly in the bathroom. Staining around bath etc. did not give nice feel.
- There was an ornament in the living area on window ledge which was mouldy and quite a lot of condensation built up on windows due to insufficient heating.

We had hoped for a lot better based on previous reviews, but we ended up feeling like the accommodation was over-priced, particularly due to the significant heating issue.

Thank you for sharing this review , we are disapointed to see the comments on some of the issues you were disatisfied with, as we always strive to provide the best available service and accomodation for all our guests , and would have welcomed any concerns to have been communicated to us during the time of your stay. The heating that you mention is programmed to be on a time switch up to the end of March , but would have been adjusted accordingly if we had been notified. The decoration of the cottage was upgraded only in March 2023 , the bathroom is consistantly cleaned and regularly maintained. Its pleasing to hear that you were happy with the service and conditions that we provided elsewhere
