A genuinely lovely campsite, beautifully tended and manicured. Despite this its really child friendly too. Split between paddock and rally field both fabulous and rally field allows caravans. It has that buz about it that good campsites do and a fab pub nearby. They did have owls in a separate area but i think they may have been rehomed now. Outstanding.
It was a wet weekend but got to say the campsite is fantastic, clean and the owners and staff are very friendly. We didn’t really stay on the site during the day but it is in a good location for everything we wanted to do. Also stayed an extra night, my car broke down I spoke to the owner about staying there all day and he couldn’t do more to help us out even one of the other campers (residents who had been staying there for 6 months) offered to fit my starter motor :-) definitely will be returning in the spring!
A lovely site. Warm welcome, loos and showers cleaned regularly..at least twice a day. A good site for touring the area. However, we don't understand why the pitch is half grass and half soil (where the awning could go). Even without rain, the morning dew made it muddy and a right mess to our awning flooring and you couldn't help but trample through it to pack up the van. Couldn't the pitch just be left grassed, and the grass recover once an awnings been removed? Weve never come across this before. Such a shame, otherwise a 5* rate would have been given.
This site is well maintained, the staff are friendly and the facilities clean - all pluses. However, I do feel that the pitches are very close together compared with other sites. Instructed to park our car on the same side as the awning seemed odd as it left a tiny gap between us and the next door caravan even though we were both pitched spot on the pitch markers - and we were on an end pitch with yards of space unused beyond us.I think with the increasing number of wider 'vans and large awnings, not to mention large 4x4s space is important to maintain a safe space in case of fire. It's a great site for visiting the many local attractions, easily accessed and handy for motorways. Facilities are limited especially if there are a large number of tents on site.
This was our third visit and will be returning again. The site is well looked after and the staff can not do enough to help. Whilst we were there we had severe weather and the staff were out rescuing those whose tents didn’t survive and offering accommodation in their barn. There are great facilities for young babies or disabled and it is rare that you don’t see someone cleaning the facilities block.
