Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at The Hutte which is beautiful with views that never tire. Can do plenty of walks direct from the hut. We found the tv to be in an awkward position so we couldn’t watch late on when we retired to bed but maybe many will visit not wanting to watch much television throughout their stay so not really a negative just an observation. For those less able the stairs up to the bedroom could be a struggle so maybe worth considering if you can’t manage wooden steps. We loved it m, even had an ice bath under the stars.

We stayed at Hedgehope 9 - 12 November. The weather stayed dry for our entire visit. It was a truly magical few days spent in the glorious Northumberland countryside far away from the hustle and bustle. Fantastic accommodation in a shepherds hut - everything you could need in a compact space. The bed was a challenge to get into but well worth the effort - we had the best night’s sleep for a long time. Cosy and snug. The little log burner kept the hut toasty and didn’t need to be on for long - the hut holds the heat well. Shower was brilliant too!! The views from the hut are typically bucolic as you’d expect with an area renowned for the small farming communities scattered across the hills. Serene, peaceful and just so good for the soul. Plenty of wildlife to see. Managed to see the barn owls at dusk. Buzzards a plenty and various other avian friends. The real treat was seeing a red squirrel 🐿️ in the pasture in front of the hut. Stargazing was great too. I took my telescope and was blessed with some clear skies; the area is a dark sky site and, if you have never been to one before, be prepared to be amazed at the number of stars in the night sky. But do wrap up warm!! If you are looking for a get away from it all peaceful break then try the huts - you won’t be disappointed. We look forward to going back next year. John & Karena Newcastle

This was the perfect setting to relax in. We stayed in Hedgehope and it was a perfect size and had everything we would need and more. There were games, binoculars, books, bubble bath. The bed was so comfortable & the kitchen was well-equipped. There were cakes, bread, butter and milk on arrival which was perfect. The views, the wildlife, the outdoor bath, the tranquil surroundings. It was utter bliss and we can’t wait to go back!

It’s our fourth year in a row for our anniversary and the brilliance of it all has not changed one bit. We look forward to this weekend trip every year and love the freedom , independence and just great isolation. Outside baths are our favourite. As always we have booked again for next year.

What a beautiful place to stay. We stayed in Dunmore which was perfect for us as a couple. All the facilities we needed and the outdoor bath a bonus. Views were lovely and we had Jasper the donkey and his pony friends along with sheep, hens and ducks to keep us company. Cakes and fresh bread awaited us on arrival along with our pre-ordered meals and breakfasts provided by Nicola which were extremely tasty. Excellent couple of days "off grid" in the tranquility of the Northumberland countryside. Highly recommend, and we hope to return soon.

Nicola and Jamie's Huts in the Hills in absolutely STUNNING. We stayed at The Cheviot with our two girls. It was incredibly clean and spotless. Nicola's pre-ordered meals were simply delicious, we are so happy we ordered them! Wish we could have stayed longer and so hope to come back again!

Our hut was superbly designed. We had everything that we needed for a really comfortable stay. We opted to have a ready made dinner and dessert both of which were so tasty. The little extras like toiletries, cakes and some basics for our arrival were very much appreciated. The location is wonderful and everything from booking to checking in was very easy. We would certainly go again.

Wow. What an awesome experience. As part of my wife’s ‘40 things in the 40th year’ adventure, she had a very particular wish - to sleep under the stars, but not camping! Somehow I managed to find Huts in the Hills and found there was a bed under the window of Maylies, so I booked. On arrival we found a beautiful cabin with glorious views. But the advertised window over the bed was not there, replaced by a kitchen table! It took me a little while to figure out the cabin had been ‘hacked’ and the bed was hiding above a fold down table. The ‘hands off’ approach made this whole adventure feel completely private and secluded. Keys in the door on arrival, no need to check in. There was bread and butter and milk on arrival. We made a fire in the outdoor pit at dusk and waited for the sunset. By luck it was a crystal clear night and we sat looking at the stars until 3am, between the fire pit, bath and window above the bed. It was nothing short of magical. The hut itself is well appointed, with luxurious finishing - it’s easy to forget where you are - I felt totally relaxed for the first time in years. We loved the entire experience and cannot wait to come back ❤️
