Suzi and Paulo are splendid hosts and made us feel so welcome in their lovely home. It is a wonderful period property full of beam and tastefully decorated throughout. There are extensive grounds (over 2 acres) with a large, peaceful lake at at end that has ducks (and a kingfisher) in residence. We had a comfortable room with tea, excellent coffee bags and fresh milk. We enjoyed a delicious full English cooked breakfast and went on our way feeling we'd had a lovely break in a friendly, relaxing environment. Only took us about 15 - 20 minutes to get to Cheltenham do it's very accessible (although nicely tucked away!) We'd love to pay a return visit.

We had a delightful weekend here. The owners Suzi and Paulo were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very clean and pretty with a stunning view overlooking the church. We were kindly offered to sit and walk in their beautiful gardens which includes a lake with nesting kingfishers, woodpeckers and resident ducks. They do have a dog who is a big softee and actually made our weekend even more enjoyable. She sat with us in the garden and walked with us. The owners are also happy to keep the dog out of the way should you not like dogs. Breakfast was wonderful with a great choice; cereals, toast, fruit & yogurt, homemade jams, butter, fresh orange juice, and cooked breakfast. This is a lovely B&B with lovely hosts. We will most definitely be returning and can thoroughly recommend a stay here. You won't be disappointed.

We stayed for 2 nights here while visiting the Tewksbury Festival. What an amazing location. The grounds are stunningly beautiful . The house is fantastic too. The room we had was small and cosy. The size is due to the age of the building. It is a wonderful period property. We were made to feel so welcome by the owners. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was great and freshly prepared. I would highly recommend this B&B to any couple wanting a romantic break in an idyllic location.

The Monkspool is easily one of the nicest B & B's we've ever stayed at. Spotless and comfortable en suite room, delicious breakfast plenty of choice and cooked fresh when you go downstairs. The property has it's own lake with a family of ducks and plenty of fish with lots of bences to just sit and chill. We loved watching beautiful Lola the dog running around or just sitting watching the ducks. Suzi & Paul make you feel so welcome from the minute you get there. We have already planned 2 return visits and cannot wait.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. It was a pleasure meeting you both, and as you can see, Lola is having a wonderful carefree life now that we have taken her from a difficult start in life. We are most definitely looking forward to welcoming you back to stay in the shepherds hut.

I'm not normally one for writing reviews, but I feel on this occasion that one is warranted.
From the moment you pull up to Monkspool after driving through the most charming little village, you can't help but feel like you have hit upon a winner.
This beautiful period property is quite remarkable. Warmly greeted by Suzi & Paulo (and of course the beautiful Lola!) and instantly made to feel at home.
We had a beautiful double room (What a bed, comfort at its best) and superb bathroom facilities.
The surrounding grounds just another thing to add to the list of wows, superb walks around the countryside and only a short trip away from Tewkesbury which boasts it's own stunning walks and scenery by the Severn.
Both mornings greeted by a delicious cooked breakfast and range of teas and juices, setting us up for the day.
Any questions we had about what to do or where to go were fulfilled and both Suzi and Paulo went out there way to accommodate in anyway they could.
The hardest part of the weekend was leaving. A much needed stay away and look forward to returning in the near future.
A joy to stay somewhere so restful!
Thank you Suzi, Paulo & Lola xx

This is a fantastic property owned and run by a lovely couple(Susie & hubby Paulo.. two of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. It is a lovely house in a quaint little Hamlet close to Tewksbury. Our hosts made us feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble… just an absolute diamond of a place run by great people. Thank you very much…

When you live in a beautiful property yourself, clearly this is nothing special.
The lake is the only feature, but that is clearly what you pay £95.00 per night.

The room was poky with more cushions than clearly necessary. The window let rain in and very Claustrophobic.
Poor Lola, no walks, barely bothered with. I certainly wouldn’t have the dog sitter look after my 4 beautiful cocker spaniels or my home. Bearing in mind she does jump up!

I was asked for £1.045 up front.
What ever you do, don’t stay there with the dog sitter, suffers with total paranoia.

I felt really unwelcomed.

There are so many nice places to stay and I personally wouldn’t recommend it.

Parking is squashed and when you are used to your own courtyard. Having to ask people to move. Not professional or well thought out.

Had a one night stay at this beautiful place and can't say enough good things about it. From it's location tucked away by a lovely church to the hosts who can't do enough for us. Everything about this place is 1st class and the garden and lake at the rear makes it serene and peaceful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay near the Cotswolds. The full breakfast just finished the stay off. Thank you for being so welcoming and I'm sure we will be back soon.

I can’t believe the last review. Having just stayed here this place is awesome , beautifully appointed , cleanliness was superb, the owners were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us , there is enough off street parking for 8 cars in two driveways. Lola their dog is the most wonderful pup. She runs around the grounds and is clearly a happy well looked after dog. After speaking to the owners I understand that the previous review is clearly unsubstantiated as is evidence by previous reviews. We loved it so much we are booked again in October. Thank you Suzi and Paulo xxxx
