This was our 2nd visit and even more enjoyable. Dinner was very special and the choices for breakfast were amazing! Our room was spacious and well-appointed. Sarah is the perfect host, too. Will definitely be back.
Le Chaton Rouge is a wonderful B&B, run by a delightful couple of Scots, Sarah and Lewis. Its located in the countryside between Le Mans and Tours, a gateway to the Loire valley, but I also found it to be a perfect distance driving from Dieppe for an overnight stay, before continuing onto southern France. Sarah and Lewis are genuinely lovely hosts, warm, welcoming, friendly, but also highly professional. I opted to dine there that evening, and was rewarded with a delicious crab salad, and baked courgette from their own garden (I asked for a pescatarian meal, they were very accommodating), served at the outside table. The room I stayed in was stylish, the bed very comfortable, and everything maticulously clean. The breakfast was also sumptuous, and served in a beautiful stone outbuilding. In short, I can't recommend Le Chaton Rouge enough, and Sarah and Lewis as engaging and welcoming hosts!…
We stayed as a stopover on our way to and from our holiday. This B&B is an absolute gem. Rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. Beds and pillows are very comfy. Sarah and Lewis are great hosts. Very friendly and welcoming. Great nibbles and canapés whilst having a drink in the courtyard. Dinner each time was superb. Freshly cooked food with vegetables out of their garden. Well worth the money charged. Breakfast had everything you could want including yoghurt from the local farm. So glad we found this place. Hopefully we will be able to stay again as an overnighter to break our journey.
We chose here due to its proximity to the Sarthe cycle route, which we were riding, and what a lucky find it was. Sarah greeted us after a long day in the saddle with lovely refreshments on her patio. We opted to eat dinner and Lewis (hope that’s spelt correctly) prepared us a very good meal which was also very good value and served in a wonderful dining room. The bedrooms were very nice and we slept very well. Breakfast included local yogurt, fruit, fresh bread and homemade jams. The bikes were safely stored in the secure back garden throughout our stay. We had a lovely time and I would happily return for another visit.
We arrived early, melting from the boiling heat of the afternoon. This didn't phase Sarah (Lewis was having a nap) who ushered us into the shaded courtyard and magicked up a couple of chilled beers. Heaven! Our bedroom was lovely, stylish, comfortable and spotlessly clean.Excellent shower. Lewis was the chef for the evening and what a delicious dinner it was. Breakfast, too, was great. Our stay at Le Chaton Rouge was on of the highlights of our French holiday. This is a reluctant review as we want to keep this gem secret.
