This is a lovely looking pub, and the staff friendly, so all the indications were positive. The menu choices were pretty much the normal range - though £6.50 for a sandwich with chips and salad perhaps being at the top end. However, two slices of ordinary brown bread and a scattering of grated cheese doesn't really fit the bill these...

Stayed here for just one night:( this 'hotel' is like a home from home, not happy to call it a hotel as it is so much more homely and inviting than your average b&b ! They even made the effort as we were a couple that booked a twin room to move the beds together, awesome! Would definitely recommend this...

We booked in through internet but phoned to confirm we were bringing a scruffy Yorkshire terrier, on arriving pub part was full of friendly people. We was escorted to our room which was situated at back of pub, beautiful traditional looking building, room was spotless , comfortable room, which dog loved, other dogs staying but you would never know as...

There was nine of us for lunch at this traditional country pub. We were made very welcome. The waiter could not have been more helpful, nothing was a trouble for him. There was a good choice of meals on the menu. The food was all nice and hot and the vegetables crisp. The bar was heated by a lovely wood...

The host. The staff . The layout and decor of the pub was great. Rooms are in a separate block of 9 rooms all with your own private entrance just behind the pub. Best of both worlds - you have your own place and then in 10 strides you have a traditional welcoming warm cosy pub. The beer is a...

Lovely Halloumi salad from the new menu followed by a warming homemade crumble and custard-just what was needed on a chilly bonfire night. The staff were very friendly and service was quick. We wish the new owners all the best.

Here was the ideal place to be following a day on the busy streets of York. Away from the crush of crowds, in a pleasant village, an atmospheric inn and quiet surroundings. The tricky start was finding that our room had not been made up after the previous occupants had left, but the offer of a free drink (readily taken)...

We stayed at this Inn as it was half way from Scotland to Wales. I am disabled and we have two dogs so the ground floor room with shower appeared to be just right for us. When we arrived we had a warm welcome from the bar staff and ordered Sunday lunch which was superb. Local produce all well cooked...

I rang earlier in the day to ask if the pub was dog friendly: it was. Both my wife and I had a great meal helped by the staff. We would recommend this pub as would Layla (our dog), the pub has a large carpark and a beer garden.
