Have stayed and eaten here a couple of times recently. Located in a lovely village the rooms in the courtyard are spacious and very quiet. Very nice food and ales. Lots of lovely walks nearby and only a few miles from the beautiful town of Helmsley

We booked 3 rooms (somewhat last minute) and we could not have been more pleased. Superb food, wine and standard of accommodation. The best steak I've had in years. Socially distancing measures made us feel very secure and we will definitely be back once the current lockdown is over.

Warm and welcoming in ambience and personal greeting even with all the necessary Covid restrictions in place. A choice of tables was offered in cosy, quiet places Beautiful food, stunning battered King Prawns, excellent sea bass and interesting sides The apple crumble was divine

Visited for the first time today for lunch & we would really recommend it. All of the staff were extremely pleasant & helpful & we were served very quickly. The pub felt safe with all of the relevant Covid precautions in place & we very much enjoyed our visit. There was a good choice of meal options & we settled for the roast pork & lamb shank, both were delicious, the accompanying cauliflower cheese especially. Delicious apple crumble for dessert which we both loved. Excellent value for money, we’ll definitely be back!

We were staying at Studford lodges so booked for lunch at the Fairfax Arms and it didn’t disappoint. Plenty of choice for both the adults and children which included main meals plus paninis. Really appreciated being told that the children’s pizzas were actually quite large and a 6 and 7 year old trying to go for 3 courses might struggle with one each 🙈 they even struggled with one between two!! Service was great and nothing felt like too much trouble. Food tasted amazing and can’t fault a thing. We’ve booked to return next year to the lodges so will definitely be back at the Fairfax in 2021
