We found ourselves after much research booking the Harmony House b&b for a trip to York. When we arrived there was ample parking outside and on arrival we were greeted by Lyn who we found to be a fabulous host, we were shown around the property and to our lovely spotless room (Poppy) that had plenty of space with a ensuite shower.

We went for a walk over to St. Helens Church and across the bridge over the river then returned to Harmony House. Lyn had earlier offered to make some sandwiches should we want a snack. In addition, we were welcomed by some homemade brownies made by Lyn which were delicious with a cup of tea.

We had a good nights sleep in a very comfortable bed and went down for breakfast which to be honest was the nicest breakfast we'd had in a long time (see photo) which set us up nicely for the day.

They also have a tearoom that we hope to experience on our next visit - the homemade cakes look amazing! We will look forward to returning to Harmony House for any visit to North Yorkshire in the future.

This is a wonderful cozy house, and a great place to stay if you want to close to a lot of places in Yorkshire.
It's only a 15-20 minute drive to the York designer outlet and the park and ride there, which is very handy for travelling into York.
The house itself has this lovely cozy warmth to it, with a clear style embedded in all the rooms and furnishings. There is a lounge room for guests to use with 2 large sofas and some leaflets on things to do nearby. There is also a super cozy reading nook on the first floor landing.
Adele keeps everything super clean, could not find anything to fault her on from a cleanliness perspective.
Harmony House offers a breakfast option, that you can book on arrival (as well as before arriving). Adele gives you the option to change your breakfast choice each night by providing a simple breakfast sheet within the room for you to leave out for her. Cannot comment on the quality of the breakfast itself as I did not partake in it.
Having stayed in the cornflower room (the smallest of the rooms) I can say that all the rooms would be a good size with space to walk and move around. There was space to walk around the bed in the cornflower room, however the space was a little tight between the bed and the wardrobe/cupboard - really not an issue though!
The cornflower room is at the front of the house and has a great view of the field area in front of the house. If you're really lucky you'll get to watcha couple of barn owls flying around.
The ensuite is also tastefully decorated and furnished, with plenty of light throughout the room without being blinding. The free standing bath was lovely, made better by the complementary toiletries (hand soap, moisturiser, shampoo, conditioner, bath salts, bath soak).
There are a couple of stairs from the landing into the room, and a couple of stairs from the bedroom area into the ensuite. These do not squeak and are quite easy to get up/down (even with suitcase outside the room).
There is a lot of room outside the front of the house for car parking. It appears to be shared by all the houses along the front of the street, although there's virtually no problem with parking. Coming back late on a Saturday night was the hardest time to park but there were still spaces.
From Harmony House you can easily get to a variety of places within Yorkshire by car. Which is excellent as it means you can explore many villages and towns nearby. Selby (~5minutes) and Malton (~30minutes) are really good places for getting food, and wandering around.
Would recommend staying here if you want somewhere cozy, easy to find, and relatively close to York and a lot of surrounding villages/towns. Already looking at booking another stay!

We stopped off for lunch at Tea Harmony, the cafe at Harmony House, on our way through Yorkshire. What a lovely discovery.

There is an indoor and outdoor area, and both are very tastefully arranged. We sat outdoors overlooking the village green, and ordered a bacon sandwich and a fish finger sandwich. Food is made to order, so be patient and expect to wait a little longer than the norm.......... it is worth it! Clearly good quality produce, cooked well and very nicely presented. The minted peas were especially delicious.

Service was very pleasant and friendly too. We were given lots of local information which was most useful to us.

Excellent COVID measures in place too.

Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I visited yesterday with friends for a late lunch, we all had different sandwiches which were beautifully presented on platters with salad and crisps. I had the gourmet sandwich which was a great combination of piccalilli, thick cut ham, eggs and chips - all in ciabatta I think - it was delicious! Tea came in big pots with lots of extra water! There's a chiller cabinet with amazing looking puddings in it and a sideboard groaning with cakes, if I'd had the room I would have found it very difficult to choose between them. Outside I could see a lovely tea garden with some very comfortable looking furniture but as it was raining we didn't investigate further! The owners are very friendly but at the same time very covid conscious with all proper precautions in place

Just got back from a fabulous four night stay at the beautiful Harmony House B&B. It is in a perfect location for visiting York (10mins from the Park and Ride), Whitby Abbey, Robin Hood Bay and The Yorkshire Dales.

The B&B is a perfect quiet retreat after sightseeing, as the rooms are lovely with ours looking out across The Green. Our room had a great shower, soft fluffy towels, comfy bed and a plentiful supply of teabags and biscuits to sit and enjoy the view from the large bay window. The lounge is also a beautiful place to sit and unwind, with tea and possibly a good book!

One of the highlights is the scrumptious freshly cooked to order breakfast each morning in the delightful garden room.

The host Adele is so lovely, warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was so helpful in offering advice on what to see and do during our stay. We would love to return one day.

My wife and I along with our niece Suzie, we had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful tea room. we had coffee and toast with preserves, all served by a lovely young lady, who had a personality to match her pretty looks. this young was so helpful, and polite she made our visit most memorable. ( we are so sorry, but her name escapes us ) Her partner Adele, who's name I remember because of my daughter having the same name. This lady too was equally a pleasure to meet, so all in all our visit to this little gem was special. The coffee and toast ( fresh bread) with preserves was delicious, with very comfortable chairs at cottage tables in a cosy room. thank you again ladies, and see you again very soon. xx

Cannot recommend this place enough. We stayed in the annex for our covid-19 quarantine period having returned to the UK after living abroad. The place is beautifully presented and cosy with everything we needed for our stay. Situated in a quiet and peaceful countryside location with plenty of local walks that we took advantage of once out of quarantine. The real bonus of our stay was the tearoom (which was open for takeaways only during this difficult time). Delicious food very reasonably priced. The cakes are to die for! The owners Lynne and Steve couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back under better circumstances when we are able to fully enjoy the surrounding area.

What a beautiful B&B this is. I couldn’t have picked a better place to stay for our trip to York:) The B&B is set in a quiet village, which is close enough to York. It’s not in walking distance but we parked at the nearby park and ride (Outlet Village) and travelled in for one day, the following day we parked in a Q carpark near the Shambles - which was very convenient but obviously a little more pricey than our park and ride tickets. York is stunning, highly recommend a visit or two. There are also some gorgeous places to visit around the B&B too.

Adele our host was a font of knowledge, so that helped me plan my itinerary for the weekend. She is honestly the most wonderful, kind, and friendly host I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Nothing was too much trouble and she even went the extra mile to prepare us a wonderful Afternoon Tea upon our arrival for my partners Birthday surprise.

We stayed in the Great Burnet room with a King Size bed, gorgeous bay window with x2 comfortable armchairs to watch TV, mini fridge for drinks etc and a lovely shower room. Adele had even written a birthday card for my partner and left us a heart shaped box of Lindt Chocolates for a Valentines treat in our room. The bed was very comfortable, softness of the sheets were really nice too. Adele informed me they are Microfibre ones. The comfy armchairs were very much needed after walking miles around York, and the shower was lovely and spacious. It wasn’t a power shower, but was certainly powerful enough. Everywhere was very clean and the pictures just don’t do this place justice.

Breakfast on both days was truly wonderful, we throughly enjoyed it. Adele has a large fridge of drinks in the dining area if guests need to purchase champagne, wine, beers or soft drinks during their stay. I forgot to purchase some snacks while we were out in York, as we were planning to watch a film. I messaged Adele to see if she had any snacks to buy. Unfortunately she didn’t have any to purchase, but was kind enough to offer to make us some toast. I didn’t like to disturb her further, so declined her kind offer but she would have most certainly done this for us:) Adele runs the entire B&B singlehanded, I have no idea how she manages to do it all by herself. Amazing lady and thank you again for a truly wonderful and memorable stay. Xxx

We were greeted by Adele on arrival who graciously offered us a well-needed hot drink. We had just been January Sales Shopping in York so it was lovely to relax with a cuppa in our mitts whilst sitting in her beautiful and very comfortable guest lounge. There was an Amazon Alexa device in the lounge so Adele encouraged us to choose some music to play (my hubby opted for a bit of Phil Collins).

Our bedroom was gorgeous in design and decor - and ever so roomy. A very warm comfy bed, modern furniture, a mini fridge and a smart TV, to which I connected my BBC I Player account. It was also such a treat to have one of the chocolates which were located in the drinks area.

The room had its own bathroom with a gloriously deep standalone bath which I enjoyed soaking in. The bathroom came with a lot of thoughtful extras such as bath salts, bath soak, body wash and moisturising cream (all of quality value). What really surprised me was that I even found a little battery operated candle resting on the bath tray so guests can well and truly switch off and relax during their stay.

After having a lovely night’s sleep, we had a deliciously cooked full English Breakfast served in the Garden Room. We very much enjoyed chatting with Adele especially discovering information about the local area.

We found Adele to be a very thoughtful and considerate proprietor. It is very evident that Adele wants to provide her guests with the very best, so they can have a lovely stay. I especially loved the small things such as the stylish cups, the modern quirky tea pots, the decor, ‘the Nook’ (a little high level reading area) and of course the Lindt chocolates.

We would love to return to Harmony House for a 2 or 3 night stay so we can explore even more of the local area.
