We spent a fantastic evening at the Felin Fach Griffin, as our first holiday since lockdown! Whilst it isn’t the cheapest, the character of this lovely little gem is hard to beat, and certainly lived up to our expectations. The rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable (superb large bed) and the leaf teas and locally roasted coffee were a nice touch, along with the natural soaps and toiletries. The hotel is honest about itself, it’s an old building with character so that will come with some quirks! The whole hotel and the restaurant felt very Covid-safe, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Breakfast next to an open fire, with home made bread was just superb! A very relaxing and charming stay, we’d love to come back!

We've decided to go to the Brecon Beacons for our 2020 staycation and staying at the Felin Fach was surely the right idea. I must admit that I am quite puzzled with some of these negative reviews - this gastro-pub is clearly with prices above average but you really pay for what you get. I have never ever been to a hotel or BnB that has so much character: from the roberts radios on the rooms to the locally sourced food and delicate decoration. The food was delicious - pictures speak by themselves - tender meats, melting in mouth risotto and a very rather large breakfast with plenty of options where the highlight was their home made bread. Staff very caring and friendly plus their covid handle was one of the bests I've seen with clear description across their website and panels of their measures. I would most recommend to stay and dine here again, a precious gem in the mountains.

We haven't ventured out very much during the pandemic but made an effort to get out and celebrate our anniversary! We are so glad we did, as we felt very relaxed and we well looked after by the professional staff. Lunch was excellent. All 3 courses were well presented and delicious. The crab cakes were excellent. The lambs liver was perfectly cooked and the gnocchi really good. Desserts were if a similar standard. We also thought that lunch was good value for money. We will definitely return.

I have been visiting Brecon and other parts of mid-Wales for many years and, after reading many reviews in the national press, had long wanted to have a meal at the The Felin Fach Griffin. I finally achieved this goal earlier this month. The highlight of the meal was the John Dory, beautifully cooked and presented, but the starter and the dessert were very average. Presenting a small serving of fruit crumble 'creatively' in a glass cannot disguise its shortcomings: my daughter's apple crumble knocks for six the one I received at the Griffin. I accept that, in this Covid era, restaurants are facing difficult times, but on the occasion I visited, the Griffin's offering was no better than a recent meal at a branch of Bill's. Bill's had the advantage of being cheaper, too. I would not hurry back to the Griffin - unlike the Yamaichi Bekkan on Miyajima in Japan.

It had a range of delicious food with good vegetarian options. The ambience was very cosy and romantic so perfect for a couples dinner with candles and a fireplace. Although we weren’t there in the daytime I can imagine it is a great place for an outdoors lunch as it was a beautiful setting.
