Booked last minute as our last accommodation had to be cancelled due to the weather. We called to check availability and there was no problem at all. Met at the farm by Melanie who was very pleasant and chatty. Cabin was amazing and lovely quiet location. Only five cabins. Had one issue with the shower cubicle not draining which was sorted within half an hour of contacting Rupert. Also what a lovely gentleman to talk to very pleasant also. 😊 everything needed in the kitchen and complimentary tea, coffee and milk to start us off. Oh and biscuits. Good base to go out and about to explore if you want or chill and do nothing and use the hot tub. Loved it that much booked again for later in the year.

We booked a last minute stay for new year and we're surprised to find we were the only people there! We stayed in the 2 bed hawthorn lodge, Melanie was there to welcome us when we arrived in the dark but other than a hello in passing left us to our own devices which is what we prefer. The lodge itself was spotlessly clean, big enough for the 4 of us with a lovely hot tub which we used every day watching the stars and the sheep. It did rain neatly every day but didn't put us off! Some hooks outside for towels would be handy. The beds were really comfy and the ensuite shower room was a bonus so the kids had their own bathroom. We loved the built in ceiling speakers and the kitchen was really well equipped... Managed to cook a Christmas dinner on new years day with no problems... Although we did bring the air fryer too! Only grumble would be the TV, we brought our firestick and the switch and used the WiFi which was absolutely fine but the TV randomly turns itself off.... Several times during a programme not just once or twice! I'm sure Melanie would have dealt with this if we had said anything but the TV is wall mounted so felt it wouldn't have been a simple task just to swap it. We did an online asda shop for after we arrived and this was delivered no problem! Perfect setting for lots of lovely walks however we stayed during a period of lots of rain so wellies were a must! We walked to the White Swan pub most days. They were really friendly and welcoming, the food was lovely and so was the lovely open fire. It literally is a 5 minute walk from your lodge door.... No wellies needed! We found a fabulous local pub the Crooked Billet (about a 15 min drive away) that specialises in Yorkshire puddings and a Yorkshire pudding challenge and had a very nice breakfast there and returned for a meal later in the week. Huge portions and a Yorkshire served with nearly everything.... Even pudding! We had a lovely new years walk across the fields to a pub to the Tickled Trout pub....this involved sinking in flooded farmers fields, climbing stiles on fences and meeting many sheep and cows..... The route on the public paths weren't the clearest but we made it in about 1hr 20 mins and a friendly local pointed out a better route back! A well earned pint in front of the open fire. Menu was a bit pricey and we weren't really dressed for lunch in our mud spattered outfits but lots of others were eating. We enjoyed a day out shopping at the York outlet about a 20 minute drive. No local shop within walking distance so need to drive into Tadcaster about 5 mins down the road. We had a lovely stay and would absolutely return... Have already looked at some weekends as it's very close to Wetherby races!

Thank you for your comprehensive review and we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay. As you state in your narrative there is plenty to do and see in the local area, even when the weather is not at its best. We are sorry to hear that you had some issues with the TV. If you had mentioned the problem during your stay we would have investigated and rectified the issue. We hold a spare TV in stock so an issue with a TV can be easily and quickly resolved. You did not mention the issue on departure and reading your review is the first time we have been made aware of the issues you experienced. Your stay was some weeks ago and there have been numerous other guests in the Lodge since your departure and we have not been made aware of any issues with the TV. However, we are now aware of the issues you experienced and we will monitor the TV moving forwards. Thank you again for your generous comments.

We stayed 4 nights in Oak lodge, a spacious, well appointed 1 bedroom lodge for 2 people. The location is secluded, quiet and peaceful. The hot tub was large, comfortable and in excellent condition. We recieved a warm welcome on arrival and very quickly settled in. The White Swan is a great local pub (see separate review) a short walk from the lodges. We went into York on Wednesday, we have an electric car so chose to park & ride from Poppleton Bar. The car was fully recharged when we returned, the last bus from York being 18:50. We have no hesitation in recommending these lodges, A restful short break only 72 miles from our home in Durham, we'll certainly be back!

The most relaxing week we have had away. Only 5 Lodges on site with hot tubs, it is calm and relaxing. The sycamore lodge that we stayed in was well equipped, clean and tidy! We were well greeted and had milk, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits at our lodge. The only thing that could have been better was the towels as they were quite small. Overall we have had a fantastic stay and would definitely have another holiday here.

Each guest is supplied with a hand towel and a full-size bath towel, we assume your personal preference is for a bath sheet hence your comment regarding towel size. We hope you enjoyed the complimentary and unlimited Wi-Fi. We look forward to welcoming you back sometime in the future hopefully.

We stayed here as a family of four and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was immaculately clean and the hot tub was wonderful. It was a lovely peaceful break and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We visited York maze and York Dungeons and the children had such fun.

We stayed at Wighill a few years ago and rebooked as they were so nice. Really well kept, clean and comfortable lodges, great hot tub. Just knocked 1 star off (would have liked to have only knocked half a star off but not possible!) because still no wifi. I dont think many people own DVDs these days anymore as everyone uses Netflix etc for streaming. Id completely forgotten there was no wifi here and forgot to check when booking as everywhere has it now. We had brought the firestick so had to use mobile data to stream Netflix etc on an evening, luckily we have a large data allowance but some people wont and it was a bit unreliable. We’ve stayed at some really remote places and they’ve had great wifi and smart tvs with Netflix etc built in so you just have to log into your account so hopefully it will arrive at Wighill soon. We obviously dont want to spend our whole break online or watching tv, but it is nice in the evening to watch a film or a series, DVDs are just quite outdated now. Wifi is also very handy if you own a grumpy teenager. Overall though a fantastic break and if the lack of wifi doesn’t bother you then you’ll absolutely love it.

Just returned from a 2 night break, lovely comfortable lodge with all amenities you could wish for. Views are lovely and it's nice and it's a nice peaceful location with a small number of lodges so you don't feel overlooked. Took a trip into York on Saturday, was easily able to get an Uber and we were there within 20 minutes. Would definitely recommend if you want a peaceful break with the option of going into local cities/towns.

My boyfriend and I have stayed here for 4 nights and it was the most relaxing and lovely getaway! The information upon arrival was very useful and staff were very friendly. The check in was so quick and easy! The lodges are very clean, well equipped with everything you could possibly need. They are warm, cosy, comfortable and have the most amazing views. The complimentary tea, coffee and milk was also a lovely addition. It is also close to Tadcaster, York and Wetherby with lots of shops Cannot recommend this place enough. Would definitely come back 😊

Highly recommend this peaceful and well equipped lodge. Great communication from the hosts and a good location. We took an Uber to hit the York Christmas markets- no problems at all and took approx 25 minutes to get there. The lodge is in a convenient location to access Harrogate & Wetherby too. It was nice to be close enough to experience the busier places but far away to feel relaxed when we returned to the lodge. Would 100% recommend and would return if we were to travel up North again
