The location is perfect! Near for the "city" and the Long set beach too. The owner family is really kind, always smiling and very helpful. The lady cooking very well, the price are not the cheapest but worth it! The wifi didn't go until our bungalows. But on the beach and the restaurant there was good internet. The bed was big and clean, the changed the towels every day. Unfortunately there wasn't real floor, just wood with holes between them. And it's lookalike never washed up because is natural woods. Some animals left every day small poops on the bathroom self. That we need to clean ourselves.
Last day was New Year's Eve and all of the guests invited to a big free dinner by the owners, it was so nice!
In total we felt very good themselves. We spent a week in this bungalow and we was sad to leave the island.

The name now is The Wavy Sailor Bungalow.
It is a bit far from the port and you will pass to a forest like area to find this place. You can actually rent a single motor to bring your stuffs like luggages or anything you are having a hard time to carry because the tuktuk cannot pass.
This is not an airconditioned room but it has a ceiling fan. There are times that the area is hot, especially midday but everynight it is cool. There are mosquitoes in the afternoon but gone in the evening. There are monkeys in the morning which will climb up sometimes to your room 🤣 but just stay safe haha.

When I arrived to Koh Rong I was in a very bad mood. I had just spent the night in ratville. I mean Sihanoukville. I contacted starfish to let them know when I was arriving and they had a taxi boat help us get to the bungalows. If you have just a small bag the walk from the pier to the bungalows is not too bad. If you have large luggage I would definitely use the taxi service they provide.
I would have given 5 stars but they burn garbage. I know this is common in se Asia but it still does not make it okay. It breaks my heart seeing plastic bottles burning. Climate change is a real thing and to see stuff like this boggles my mind.
Anyhow, the bungalows. They were great. We were worried about having just a fan but we managed to stay cool. Yeah there was lizards and geckos in our bungalow but hey I was hoping they would eat the mosquitos. The bed was comfy, cold shower and power was off by midnight.
The 4k beach was right beside this place. It was beautiful. I couldn't find the two places I mention next on trip advisor so thought I'd share here. The nest hostel is a 5 min walk from here. Which has amazing food. Mm their hummus was delicious. Wraps were all amazing. Food does take a long time so if it's busy I'd ask how long if time is an issue for you. You also go up to order your drink and food. Past the nest you will see the white pearl. They let you use their sun chairs if you eat at their place. We ate there a few times and enjoyed the bruschetta, coconut soup and Pina coladas :) service here was quick.

If you've ever travelled around rural parts of Asia, looked at the wooden houses built on stilts and, like me, wondered what it would be like to live in one of them, this is the stay for you. But here, you have the added benefit of waking up in the morning to a beautiful sea view and knowing you're a short walk from long stretches of isolated beaches with crystal clear water and an overall sense of a tropical paradise that very few Westerners get to experience.
When I think of Islands in South East Asia, like most people, I usually think of the over-run, well known and very touristy ones in Thailand. Cambodia doesn't tend to spring to mind. But this country has a lot to offer if you're looking for something a bit different to the aforementioned destinations.
We went there just a day or so after Khmer New Year and although initially, on our first night the island seemed reasonably populated (although nowhere near as populated as some of it's Thai counterparts) the populous dropped considerably during our three night stay. We didn't get to explore much of the island, we mainly flitted between the area around the main pier and where our bungalow was, which was a lazy 20 minute walk away.
Google Maps shows the bungalows as being inland as opposed to on the beachfront, but this is wrong. We started to walk along the beach and decided to call them to ask where they were before we wet any further. A very kind gentleman asked us where we were and told us to stay there and he would come and meet us, which he did, and very kindly carried some of our bags back to the bungalows for us. We later found out this was the husband of the owner who isn't there all of the time so don't expect this service as standard. But if you can't find it just turn right from the pier, walk along the beach, through a wooded area for about 10 minutes and you'll find it.
As for the island itself, from what I could tell, there seemed to be long areas of beach, broken by wooded areas (with very well defined paths which were lit at night) which opened out onto another long beach. I'm not sure if the whole island was laid out like this.
Unfortunately on my first day there I decided to go walking bare foot and within 10 minutes I had stubbed my toe on a rock sticking out of the ground to the point where I initially thought I had broken it. I won't go into it too much, but I will just say that if you're unused to walking around in environments like this, please please please don't go anywhere barefoot. My self inflicted injury had a big impact on my stay and while I managed to force myself to hobble about, it prevented me from doing much of the things I wanted too do while there.
The lady who runs Starfish Bungalows was very polite and very friendly. I stayed there with a Khmer friend and she had no problem giving him first aid equipment (free of charge) such as iodine, swabs and plasters so he could administer some first aid to my toe. She was very chatty and informative to him regarding aspects of the island - while she spoke very good English, I guess it's always easier to speak to a fellow Khmer in your own language given the chance. My friend was very impressed with her knowledge and helpfulness.
The bungalows are very basic, but that just adds to the experience. There is very little concrete construction on the island and although you have a plethora of establishments to stay in, they all invariably offer wooden bungalow types of accommodation.
You'll get a main bedroom with a double bed and a mosquito net (despite what I read online, the mozzies were a little fierce on our first night and we had to buy spray the next day - but the net did help a lot, just make sure the inside of the net is free of them before you close it off - and tuck the net into the underside of the mattress). You'll also get a very basic shower room and toilet. The running water is fresh water as opposed to salt water from the sea, but don't expect a water heater. This is very basic living, which as I said, just adds to the experience rather than detracts from it.
Food and drink prices at the bungalow were slightly more than around the main pier area, but overall the quality was very good.
Please bear in mind there are no ATM's on the island. There are a few places with chip and pin machines that will give you cash using your credit or debit card but they charge 10%. It's better to bring your cash with you but don't be silly. A hundred bucks will easily cover you for a few days.
I definitely plan on going back to the island at some point, hopefully with a fully functioning foot, and I see no reason not to stay at Starfish Bungalows again.
Its a beautiful location in a beautiful patch of a very beautiful island.

It is a really nice bungalow. Everything was fine, but it's a little too expensive. There are other bungalows which are the same but a lot cheaper. Although it is really nice. Directly in the jungle and not far from the beach

We stayed as a couple in a bungalow with two big beds. Unfortunately, my boyfriend got sick during our stay. When you are feeling healthy it is already challenging to stay in these bungalows - no airconditioning, humid environment, jungle, mosquitos and monkeys that can come inside your room.

Luckely the staff of Starfish bungalows made our stay more pleasant. They picked us up from the boat, brought the breakfast we ordered to our bungalow (because my boyfriend felt too sick to come out of it) and were always very nice to us.

The location is set near the 4K beach, which is very quiet and pretty. If you want to see the plankton, make sure you go to a part of the shore where there are no lights and move around in the water. Very cool!

The only thing that I didn't like was the bathroom. The bathroomsink was dirty, there were some rubber bands lying around which were from the former guests I'm guessing.

All in all, for us personally the conditions were a little too primitive and well - moist. Next time we would book something with airconditioning probably.

We booked 2 nights and extended with 3 extra nights. I hope our experience below will help to make a decision.

Transport
From the main pier it’s about 15 minutes walking. There is no main road or signage which means you walk on the beach and on a (work in progress) path through the forest to reach Starfish. Make sure to carry a flashlight or phone at night as some parts are pitch black. To save time and energy you can take a taxi boat from the pier to Starfish for 5-10$. Travel with a backpack rather than a suitcase!

First impression
The bungalows are divided on ground level and going uphill. The main bungalow is where you find the reception, little shop, and seating for food and drinks. You can order from the menu. It’s also the only spot where you can connect to the free wifi. The speed was a bit below average. The Thai lady in charge is very sweet and helpful. She was always there to answer our questions or issues. Rest of the staff also friendly but did not speak English.

We got a large room at the top of the hill with two king size beds + clamboo. It was a very charming and spacious room. A balcony with seats, a large bathroom with a toilet that flushes and shower (only cold water). Two fans kept us cool at night. Power did go off in the afternoon and the water had a funny ‘coppery’ smell. For two nights the power generator on the island was off so no way to cool down the room unless you open the doors.

Although it’s a quiet area, you’ll hear the typical loud screams of an insect that sounds like someone is cutting steal non-stop. I never heard this before and although very annoying, also got used to it. Look up a video online! For those who are light sleepers this could be an issue but it’s everywhere on the island. Also monkeys, geckos and other large insects spotted on the property. Our neighbors found a green snake on their balcony. Take some earplugs for a good night sleep and apply DEET at all times.

Location
Although the resort is right at the beach, it’s not attractive enough to relax and the grounds could use more attention and seating area. However, It’s right between the busy part of Koh Rong and 4K beach. Within a 8-10 min walk through a rough part of the forrest, the path looks improvised, you’ll reach that powdery white beach and clear water that makes it all worth while. Make sure to have a flashlight/phone with you at night or you won’t find your way back.
We did spend the entire week here. You’ll find a handful beach bars that offer free beds, wifi and affordable drinks/food. Creditcards are not accepted on the island and no ATM on the island either. Only 3 cash points available (local shop or bar) to ‘pin’ money, you’ll pay 10% commission.

We enjoyed our stay and I hope the owner will invest in creating a clear path with lights to the resort from both sides to make it easier for the guests. Thank you for a nice stay!

We stayed in Starfish Bungalows for four nights and it was amazing! Location is perfect, which is really close to the most beautiful 4K beach and 15min walking to the main beach full of bars. The place full of animals: kittens, dogs, little chickens. It's an amazing escape from the world. Also, the owner of the place is really lovely, she helped us with all our questions and we saw she helped other guests who got sick. Breakfast is also good, you can eat here quite cheap.
When we just arrived one of the staff members picked us up from the pier and bought us palm sugar drunk, which was yummy! Overall, we had an amazing stay, this place is like paradise! Just be aware you are close to jungle, so obviously you will receive some visits :))

Nice, no fuss bungalows, about 15-minute walk from ferry pier and centre of Koh Touch, next to Treehouse resort. Pretty basic, liked the hammock by each room. Internet pretty weak except by the reception/restaurant area. Owner really sweet. At night was very noisy from music coming from a nearby resort and night I stayed some very loud backpackers screaming late into the night. These were the only minus points. Very close to 4K/Long Beach, where there is great swimming and can swim with plankton at night right off the beach from there, no need to go on a boat trip.
