Located in Sok Sobay beach right at the beach and next to the pier where ferries arrive from Sihanoukville. We got a triple room and arrived hours before check in time but the room was available in 30 min which was great.

Internet only worked at the reception area and it was turned off many time. I had to ask the lady to turn it on. The place has electricity only between 8pm and 5am.

The room had a fan which was sufficient. There is no sink in the bathroom but a toilet seat and shower. Good place to sleep one or two nights but be prepared: it’s very basic bungalow.

We booked the 10 usd half day boat trip at the reception which was great.

My family stayed here recently and were really disappointed with the standard of accommodation. We were expecting basic but the beach hut we stayed in was really disappointing. There was no sink in the bathroom, there was a cracked sharp tile right in front of the toilet which was dangerous for the children and it seemed like it could cave in any second. I got the feeling that the owner had no interest in the upkeep of the huts and they were let go to wreck and ruin.

However the location was fantastic, the staff were excellent and hard working and the food was absolutely fantastic.

This could be an amazing place to stay if the huts were renovated.

Good location, close to the beach and the restaurant. The service was good and friendly. The bungalow was very simple (so don't expect something fancy!), but just perfect for a beach vacation. We stayed at other places on the same beach, but this was the best one of them all!
There was no wifi in the bungalows, only in the restaurant/lobby.

We arrive to Sok San New Beach bungalows, upon arrival while checking in, all seemed fine until the the young lady’s mother came to show us to our room. This woman didn’t speak English, she stated to lead us to the back side across the road, this was strange as we had paid extra on agoda for a beach front bungalow. I stopped the woman before we even gon there and said “no no this is not right we had a beach front bungalow” she started to have and aggressive manner with me, I walked back to reception/restaurant and explained to the young girl of around 20 that checked us in, she did speak English, she told me they were all full and this was the only room they had left, I said “well I’m sorry this is just not good enough I paid extra for a beach front bungalow so if you can’t give me one I want a refund” all of a sudden the girl could no longer speak English and wanted me to call the boss in Sihanoukville, so I told her to call him, he hung up on me. Both women were very rude as if it was my fault, I was taking none of it, I started shouting over the to of them on front of there restaurant full of customers. All of a sudden the girl got the key and led me to 1 of 2 empty beach front bungalows, after this I was so mad we never ate there. The bungalow was like a squat also. But after having to fight for what I had paid for the atmosphere of our stay wasn’t nice, a big shame as the beach is beautiful. These people no nothing of hospitality and shouldn’t be aloud to deal with the public, be careful because they have 2 listings on Booking and Agoda “Sok San New Beach bungalows” and Sok SAN Beach Bungalows” probably they have done this because of all the bad reviews. Also ripped hammock was the icing on the cake! If I was soft or shy they would have walked all over me. Just avoid, wish I had!

SOK SAN beach bungalows.
if you want very low standard and overpriced bungalows you Will like this place.
4 persons paid 40$ a night.
Warm blanket
Not enough towels, we got 3 and they did not have 4.
We was promised 40m2 but it`s not even 20m2.
Small bed for 2 adults
Yes it is infront of the ocean but you can get the same view some place else with high standard.
This is totaly overpriced.
keep your money.

Avoid this place. Food is awful. Expensive.
The owner stole 100$ from me (paid him, never got my change back, ended with police and he lied to them). Bungalows not nice. Please avoid. There is way nicer places on this beach. Food is horrible also.

This was our second visit to Sok San Bungalows and like the first it was a fantastic experience. Soc San Bungalows are on the far side of Koh Rong Island facing the gulf of Thailand and its another hour away from the rest of the island where most of the backpackers go. Its a quite idilic spot. There is a small community that lives close to the bungalows and it gives you the opportunity to experience a bit of the island life and culture. The bungalows are basic but you have everything you need. The chef cooked us the most amazing food. Tina one of the girls that works there took us on a walk to a nearby waterfall, she was amazing. We went snorkelling, saw a sting ray, loads of colourful fish, sea urgent and barracuda. We went for an long walk into the forest on one day that was great, great to hear all the sounds from the forest and I saw an owl. Next time I will remember to take some fishing rods, if you ask the locals they can take you out fishing. My partner is a photographer and he could not stop. I think the experience we had there was special, definitely of the beaten track.

We travelled as a group of 5 and rented 1 bungalow for 3 nights Jan 22-25/18. We absolutely loved this place and it was perfect for us. The bungalow is very basic and small with open cracks, so you have mosquito nets and the bathroom is a connected room with a door, but its really all you need. It is Beachfront so you get to wake up to the view of the ocean every day…absolute paradise in my opinion. It even had a balcony to relax on. You can walk what seems forever south down the beautiful beach (I never made it to the end) or north through the village. I soon realized this place is most likely the nicest place in the village and we were happy with our decision.

The on site restaurant was the best in the area. People would come from other properties to enjoy it. All the meals were really good. The owner's wife was very nice, helpful and really managed the place well. She arranged our $5/person boat trip, which takes you snorkelling, fishing, sunset BBQ on the beach with your catch and swimming with plankton on your return. It was amazing and we even got a private boat for a few dollars more since there were 5 of us.

Sok San Beach Bungalow's website really helped me out with information on this place including not to confuse it with Sok San NEW Beach Bungalows or Sok San Beach Resort and useful tips on how to get there. It is important to know that the Bungalows are in Sok San Village on the West side of the island and not on the more popular East (Koh Touch) side; therefore, it is not as easy to get here as to as Koh Touch, but the trek is definitely worth it! Although I planned to take their advice and use Cambodia Island Speed Ferry from Sihanoukville to Sok San Beach, while we were in Siem Reap we ended up buying the full trip from the bus company, which included the overnight bus to Sihanoukville, truck transfer to pier, Buva Sea Boat ferry to Coconut Beach and truck transfer through the island to Sok San Beach. Although it was a fun experience for us, I'd probably opt for the direct ferry to Sok San Beach next time.

We definitely recommend this place!

We went the the Sok San New Beach Bungalows Restaurant on the jetty in the fishing village, and wished we hadn’t! We waited for an hour and a half for our meals to arrive (and then each meal came out 10 minutes after the other), we each took a few mouthfuls and pushed the plates away because the food was inedible. All the other diners were also asking where their meals were (4 other tables), one couple had already walked out. The staff couldn’t have cared less. There are many other very good places to eat in the village, especially “eat pray love”, so don’t waste your time at this place! I write a lot of reviews and always look for the positives, but I really struggled to find anything positive about this place other than the view!

After been going to Cambodia for 5yrs and having stayed in 40 different hostels I have never meet such a rude and ignorant staff/owner. I had my pre paid booking confirmation from agoda but he had lost his and blamed agoda and didn't want to take any responsibility. Then just ignored for two hours. I had to really get in to his face before he finally got me an alternative accommodation next to a building site.
