The location is amazing, right on the beach and the beach is stunning - beautiful clear water. The room is clean, comfortable and functional. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The swimming pool is awesome, the waves from the sea lap against the side of the pool! And there’s swim up pool bar which is great!

A great location, very helpful and friendly staff.
Food overpriced so bring your own.
Unfortunately owner brought Chinese associates for last couple of days who took over area near pool and made noise partying until all hours. Most guests also Chinese.

I love this resort, such beautiful clear blue sea and our room was right on the beach. The team working here are so very friendly. The room is nice and clean but not so modern. You can easily walk to the bars and restaurants further down the beach. I loved the pool and pool bar!

The website said “up-market” it said “high quality amenities and services that satisfy all guest requirements within the resort”. The website says “Our pool is well-maintained” and the website said “All the rooms are excellent”. NONE OF THIS IS TRUE! On arrival the door handle to our room was hanging off and both showers didn’t work and needed mending. The room clearly had not been checked prior to us checking in. Cleaning just isn’t good enough. The next morning the maintenance team fixed the door handle and the showers. We arrived at the weekend and joined a large group of Chinese young men who had flown in for a weekend of partying. Loud techno music right outside our family room, spitting, clearing throats, dropping cigarette butts, rubbish on the beach, in the restaurant, outside our room added insult to injury. The lizards and frog in our room we could live with but we drew the line at a RAT. You must wear flip flops in the room, in the shower etc due to animal droppings on the floor, not to mention the floor felt dirty to the touch. Under bed wasn’t nice either and mosquito nets were broken, not fixed and smelt of wee! We got bitten.

Between 10am and 4pm on weekdays the electric is turned off. It didn’t say that on the website. No aircon, light, wifi, and cold showers during this time. Fine 20 years ago when I was back packing but fast forward 20 years add a few kids and at this time in life I don’t want that. Website said high end. Fly through video looked amazing but isn’t the reality now.

We left two days early and they refused to refund us. They also were not sure if our UK holiday company had paid, then said their credit card machine had broken and I would need to travel
Somewhere get cash and return. Then they accidentally overcharged us and had to repay us.

DON’T Book if you have a 10am flight to another city from SIK airport!! Basically the first ferry off the island is 9am which makes it impossible to catch that flight time unless you leave the night before.

To be fair the beach is wonderful and the staff at the resort are nice. The food at the restaurant was pretty good too. The seafood pretty good.

Chose to stay here following a stay in the Sara Resort in Koh Rong Saloem. Resort was twice the price so I had high expectations. Whilst the room was lovely, very luxurious and spacious thats where the highlights end.

When we arrived at the resort, the electricity had just come back on (electricity provided from Koh Toh on the island). The next day the electricity went out again (for 6 and half hours from 10.30am to 5pm). Not ideal but totally unacceptable management handling - no apology, no update on what was going on, nothing. We ended up spending our time at beach hill (which was a 5 minute walk from the resort which had electricity weirdly). The food at beach hill was amazing and definitely better than what was served at our hotel, the previous night! Swimming pool looked nice but we never got in as the weather was not brilliant.

We had a jungle room and perhaps unsurprisingly we did not get a great night sleep due to the noise of the animals which seem to come alive at night. Perhaps choose an ocean view room.

If intent on going to Koh Rong choose another resort or alternatively just go to Koh Rong Saloem definitely a nicer vibe and overall better experience.

This was such a scam. We wanted to take one night of luxury on the island so we followed the pictures and chose this one. We were super excited and could not wait to get there and jump in the pool with a drink from the bar.

This would definitely never be the case:( when we got there it seems like it has been shut down for many many years. Apocalypse. The bar was close, The pool needed a lot of fixing on the tiles, The room was smelly..

To put all this in one word: The biggest disappointment we have ever gotten:(

Now the issue is getting our money back from Agoda, which seems like can be a bit of a problem that’s even more disappointing.

I would never choose to this hotel even if it was the last one in the world. I’d rather sleep in a tent

What can I say about this hotel? Lots!
I do not like giving bad reviews, but the 3 nights we stayed here was the worst night during the two months of our holiday.
First, I would like to point out that the staff are very pleasant, helpful and accommodating to your requests, especially the reception staff. The waiters and the waitresses at the restaurant did their job well except they don’t speak a word of English! I asked one of them for salt and pepper and she couldn’t understand me and she had to get someone that could speak English. Oh please teach your staff even basic English!
About the room, well, firstly there is no insulation whatsoever! You are looking at the roof tiles, the walls are concrete, you can hear everything next door including people going to the toilet! Our next door neighbour was a hooker and she was up all night with a customer!
And another night we were disturbed by another Chinese drunken man yelling out for whatever!
I don’t know whether you guys are into outdoor shower, but I don’t particularly. It’s ok if it’s clean properly, but this one had moulds growing on the slab and the surrounding rocks. See photo.
The swimming pool is beautiful with a swim up bar. BUT on the left hand side facing the beach there is a bad smell coming out from the sewerage enough to put you off!
To top it all you can see the sewerage from the hotel going out to the sea! And people were swimming nearby.
For all the above reasons, I would not recommend this so called resort to any of my family and friends unless the management clean up this place.

Nothing in Hill Beach was as we had expected and our stay, planned for 4 days, was at the end only 2 days, which I can describe as a NIGHTMARE.

To begin with, after checking in we discovered that our room was not very clean and that our toilet was DIRTY.
I went to the reception and told them about that, and they sent us the cleaning staff.
A girl and a boy came to our room with just a broom. The girl swept the toilet and the room and wanted to go, so I told her that what she needed to clean the toilet, not the floor. She took a piece of toilet paper and cleaned the toilet with this and a bit of water. I claimed that I expected this to be cleaned with soap, but she did not understand English so I tried to call the reception. Of course, the telephone in the room was not working, so I needed to go again to the reception. The receptionist came to our room and I explained him the situation. He translated that to the cleaning staff, who started to complained in Cambodian, to twist their eyes and to laugh at us. According to them it was clean as they already cleaned it before the check in. But it was not!

We did not understand such a surreal discussion. Finally we told them to provide us with soap and we would clean it ourselves, because we found that really disgusting. So the receptionist told them to go and pick the soap so they could clean it to our requirements.
They came back with a refillable bottle (of soap?) and a brush. The girl started to clean the interior of the toilet with soap and the brush and, to my surprise, when she finished with the interior, she started to clean the exterior and the toilet seat with the same brush. I told her that this was disgusting and to stop it but she did not understand, so I went outside, where the receptionist was waiting and told him to come inside and translate for me. When we came back inside, she gave her colleague the same brush and he started to clean the sink and the tap with it!!!
I told them that I wanted to speak with management straight away, as I had never experienced such a DISGUSTING and ANTIHYGIENIC situation in a hotel.

The manager of the hotel came to our room and I explained him the situation. His first words, instead of showing empathy with us, were “Welcome back to work”. He told us that he would speak to the Cleaning Manager so that he could explain his staff how to clean (and added: “for this I pay him a very high salary”) but, of course, we were not comfortable anymore staying in that room. He offered us then the possibility to stay that night in another room, but the only rooms they had available were of a lower category. We decided to accept and give the hotel a second opportunity.

The room we stayed on the first night was very dark, the bed linen had stains and the toilet stank like a public urinal (I am not sure though if this may be a problem in the whole island). Not a very nice room.

On the following day, we tried to forget about that first day experience and after having a nothing-special-breakfast (the worst one we’ve had in Cambodia), we went to the beach to relax and chill out. Of course, they did not have enough beach beds for their guests; just a couple around the green-water-pool and a couple on the beach. We had to sit down in normal chairs and wait for other guests to leave.

During the morning and first hours of the afternoon, they cleaned up a new room (of our category) for us and we could change again when ready. The room was consciously cleaned but again, there were things that were not meeting the expectations of a 4* hotel, not even a 3*. Examples: the door of the bathroom (which is open air) was not closing correctly, leaving a big gap thru where mosquitos and other bugs could come in. It even had a crack in the middle, “mosquitos were very welcome”. The lamps in the room where flashing, so another person had to come and change the bulbs, making us waste our time again waiting for hotel staff in our room. He left one lamp without a bulb because they had to order more. The mosquito net around our bed was not closing correctly, what led to have mosquitos inside our bed (as the door of the toilet had that gap). The rooms have no TV (what we already knew) but they had on that day also no internet and the normal signal of Cambodia’s mobiles were also not arriving properly as the hotel is just at the end of the beach. We tried to go to the bar to have at least a bit of joy, but the bar was empty, as if it where a ghost hotel.

On the following day, we decided to end that nightmare and we checked out 2 days in advance. The manager saw us in the reception checking out and he did not even look at us in the eyes. Very unprofessional manager.

The resort could have a lot of potential, but it is old and bad aged, not tidy, dirty and the staff is not willing to work. They

I had NEVER in my life checked out in advance in any other hotel. Hill Beach has been the worst experience of our lives.

This is a beautiful hotel with an amazing pool. Sadly it was the worst part of my 3 week holiday in Cambodia. We originally booked a room with a shower outside, but were given a different room (H24).

It was beautiful with a lovely view. There was a private party of hotel guests on the beach outside our room with people playing their own music on a speaker until about 12am which for me ruined the beauty of sleeping next to the beach. This happened every night we stayed there.

The second night we were woken up by a noise clattering and discovered a rat on the desk with the tea cups! We went to reception for help but there was no one there. Despite 24 hour reception being advertised.

After an hour of looking for help we went back to our room in which the rat returned again and it was a sleepless night. The next day we were told by reception they would put some pepper down to deter the rats. The receptionist said ‘I’m thinking rats aren’t dangerous’ and seemed not to care or understand why we were upset.

We were told they were not operating a 24 hour reception, despite advertising this and had no out of hours emergency procedures. This concerned me as we were very isolated on the island and the next night a British girl went missing and was later found dead.

The rat returned the next night. It was running around the top of the room and we could hear it scratching. we couldn’t sleep and it was a horrible experience. We managed to get the remainder of our stay cancelled the next day and booked somewhere else. The staff didn’t seem to care or think it was a big issue. We were so tired and upset about the whole thing it over shadowed our holiday.

For the price of this hotel I was expecting high standards. I was so grateful to leave to a much cheaper hotel a short walk up the beach. Don’t stay here, walk to the infinity pool at happy hour (1-5 each day) take a picture and then head back to a hotel who take vermin control seriously and have a 24 hour reception fo your safety.

Oh and the WiFi is terrible, in the other hotels it worked fine.
