Lonely Beach is your unique opportunity to experience true beach life. We're situated in a remote bay in the North of Koh Rong, miles away from the party beach in the South. Before coming to lonely beach, would you kindly note that we are an eco resort which means that we're running our place on solar power. You'll have lights in your bungalow. Plugs to recharge your camera or mobile are available in the restaurant during daytime. Taking care to run the resort in the most ego-friendly way possible, water conservation is also a priority. Our bathrooms include Western style bucket toilets and traditional Khmer style bucket showers. Please note that the best way to come to Lonely Beach is to contact us before booking any return ticket. Depending on the season, on the forecast and on your location, we will give you the best options to reach us. Please, feel free to ask for more information.

One of the best places I have been, and I travel a lot. Just no words to describe the place, the beach, the nature. I went solo and the welcome was excellent. Danny and his team are not only super helpful but also the sweetest people. It's a bit remote (but just 25km from the village) but it makes all the sense when you arrive in. It was funny to see the faces of other travellers who arrived later than me, like WoW! The food also surprised me very positively. He offers many vegetarian and vegan options, and this is difficult when you are away from the main village, offering much more options and when logistics are more complicated. The owner is fluent in few languages, including the local language, what made it very easy to communicate with the cooker, a lovely local. He also tries to help us much as possible and he gave me lots of info about the country and the Island. I really enjoyed my stay there and I highly recommend it to free spirits who are looking for a real getaway. Unforgettable spot in the island and unforgettable stay 🥥🌴…

We had planned to stay at Lonely Beach for four nights. It was so bad we left after two. The rainy season did not help, and the owner cannot be blamed for the weather. But there are many other points on which he did not deliver. Yes there is no A/C, no running water and no electricity. We knew all that and were prepared for it. What we were not prepared for were the crawling animals in our bungalow. A bat stayed in the room, there was animal feces on the mosquito net, a rat, giant geckos in the bathroom. The gecko ate my solid soap and my toothbrush, never leave anything in the bathroom! The place is dirty and feels abandoned: snorkelling masks had mould on them, some common areas are broken down and not getting repaired (barbecue, snorkelling station, outside bar). Toilets had not been cleaned before, bed sheets were stained. There is only one bowl for cleaning, showering and flushing the toilets. It is never changed or cleaned when guests leave. The water supply was dirty with cockroaches and frogs in it. When confronted with all this nonsense, the owner would just laugh at us, saying we come from the city. Yet he lives with an army of dogs, so obviously there are no animals in his own bungalow. There is a difference between no electricity and sharing a disgusting room with animals. The place is remote and expensive to go to ($20 boat + moto taxi per person), expensive to stay in (the only food option is the restaurant of the hotel) and neither worth the hassle nor the price. A few positives: food is on the pricey side but good; the beach is beautiful and indeed, lonely.…

Lonely beach was very isolated with a very long walk from the road. We received little to no greeting when we arrived and there were no activities like it was advertised. The place was remote and rundown and the overall atmosphere made us feel very uncomfortable. On our first night staying in Lonely Beach someone broke into our bungalow through our window whilst we were sleeping ( even though I locked the window and the door from the inside). They proceeded to steal all our money and my phone whilst our possessions were in a small bag attached to us in the bed. I’m a light sleeper and I only awoke to someone touching my back. I turned around and It wasn’t my sister. Thinking back to that awful night it made me think something wasn’t right - that I didn’t hear them enter. The owner has so many dogs living on the property. We screamed for a long time calling for help and no one heard us If there were intruders the dogs would have been alerted. Not one of them barked which was very strange? Luckily we tracked my phone on my iPad via find my phone. We are still struggling from the whole ordeal and are currently in the process of obtaining a police report, despite constant efforts to discourage us from the owner of lonely beach - Dany. Without a police report we can’t claim back on our travel insurance. The owner of lonely beach was complicit with the lack of security for his guests on his property! He was reluctant to help us get a police report and didn’t want to get involved despite the break in happening on his property? Also the reviews I found after leaving the property detailed previous distressing SA through similar circumstances like ours. BEWARE - a major company I booked Lonely beach through had reviews that differed greatly from TripAdvisor. That was our mistake of not checking the more sinister reviews prior to our stay. I don’t want this to ever happen to travellers especially solo female travelers.…

This is a bit of a trek from Koh Touch ( $10 pp / one way moto trip ) It is a truly beautiful place with a stunning beach and lovely friendly hosts however it feels quite run down and tired - little maintenance/cleaning of communal washing areas and no fans to be found anywhere . The sleeping huts have tin rooves . It was extremely hot during our stay for 3 days and I literally melted - even the communal restaurant has no fans . It is all solar powered but still could have been considered . Be prepared to share bathing water with frogs and tadpoles and remove spiders from huts as the huts are in the jungle area . The food was amazing but at top end of prices for the island . Lovely place but be prepared to go back to basics ! You need a torch / mossie / sand fly repellant & good books ! …

We started off the stay happy to experience a basic stripped back way of life but left feeling frustrated at a few things. The owner insulted my sister telling her her job was ‘boring’ and after changing a sandwhich as we didn’t want some of the items in it, which they said you can do, there is a sign up saying so, he told us that it ‘wouldn’t be tasty’ which was a strange thing to say as it was the nicest thing we ate our whole stay and asked us don’t we like salad? It is not up to him to question what we do or don’t like and was irritating. The washing that came back had an item missing which no one seemed to care about and comes back with some things damp and screwed up. Every single time we’ve done washing, and we’ve been travelling for 2 Months it comes back neatly folded, but here they just shoved in a bag so everything is creased. We found the food average and quite pricey but as it’s the only place to eat and in the middle of nowhere we assumed this is why the prices were more than we are used to. Upon checkout the owner was talking about us in Another language to another couple which made us feel very uncomfortable and is extremely unprofessional! we couldn’t wait to leave and because of this didn’t feel like we wanted to engage with him anymore and explain these issues to him In person. The location is amazing, although some areas run down, the yoga teacher was beautiful and so friendly but we wouldn’t stay there ever again based on our experiences that I’ve shared. …

We recently stayed at this wonderful resort The food was excellent the best we had in Cambodia it was fresh and very tasty. The hosts were extremely kind and helpful Accommodation was delightful I especially like the showers using fresh water and bucket Solar energy to charge phones etc was very useful and good to know it was eco friendly The beach was the most beautiful I’ve ever seen white sand and crystal clear sea . Area was quiet calm and so beautiful 🌴☀️❤️🙏

Lonely beach seems to sadly be a far cry from its former self with at least 50% of the “resort” now derelict since COVID - 19. Although a fun and interesting journey, the $30 USD return journey per person via motor taxi immediately puts this place at the expensive end of the spectrum, with much better value for money to be had in the South of the Island. The host Dany is very friendly and knowledgeable but perhaps a little too honest. When he checked us in to our bungalow he explained that they’ve have had a break-in every 2 weeks over the last year, with peoples money and possessions being taken in the night while they slept! He also pointed out ‘booby traps’ around our bungalow, specifically planks of wood with nails in below the windows. Being extremely remote and backed by dense jungle this seemingly made us a little nervous. When the sun came out and the tide went out we realized why Lonely Beach is a favorite spot amongst traveler’s, but unfortunately it seems eco tourism is an excuse for untidiness. Although Dany very fairly cites the pandemic as an excuse for the current shape of the place, I can’t see why this has stopped him doing a little tidying up, at least some gardening and picking up some of the plastic which littered the BBQ area and beach might make it a little more inviting to future guests.…

Reading the old reviews prior to COVID this place must have been great. It was so sad to see what it has become. Very tired and run down with quite a strange vibe. There is basically no beach or very little. No activities going on. The main restaurant area is very dark and when we were there largely lacked atmosphere. Very remote which we thought would be a blessing but without beach and activities or any nice areas to be it was a real struggle and we ended up cutting our stay short.

The 1st time we came we stayed in the dorm and it was lovely. Very clean, super friendly staff, you can hear the ocean while falling asleep, the beach is truly picture perfect and we totally fell in love with it. So we came back for our honeymoon and stayed in the super luxury bungalow and it was even better than we expected. I especially loved that there is a little gap in the roof, so you can see the stars while showering. Speaking of stars, you can see the milky way clearly, as if it was on a poster. The host is a french man named Dany. He told us that you can see glowing plankton at night and did not promise too much. It was truly magical. The food is super tasty and a good mix of local delicacies and some western stuff. We decided to come back at least every year. Last but not least, we met a few digital nomads and home office travelers and thought it's a pretty cool idea. Who wouldn't want to do home office on the beach? So to sum it all up: It is what you make of it. The host can make it happen. …

At high tide there is no beach. It’s quite a long way to go to the lonely beach and frankly, it’s not worth it. A bit more than 3 km of dirt road or mostly very narrow sandy path and all of it to get to somewhere where you can barely see it and surrounded by some old huts, which one day were a kind of guesthouse.
