Staff were very friendly, facilities are clean and well maintained. There's a laundry room with tumble driers which is useful if any of your stuff gets damp. Showers and toilets were good. Shop sells lots of useful camping things, as well as drinks and snacks, and you can charge anything there at a small fee, however it is all cash only. You can also get food delivered there which is convenient.
Unfortunately on the first night there was a lot of rain and our spot in the bottom corner of field 1 got extremely boggy, but the staff allowed us to move spots and we had a much better second night.
Overall I was very impressed with the campsite and will visit again.

We stayed at Debden House between 27-29th July for 2 nights and the check-in was easy as usual. We stayed in field 2 as we were 2 single parent families with 2 children each and the field is family freindly and close to toilets/washing up/drinking water/the playground/showers and also the entrances to the forrest. This field is great because I know that my children can run off and play and go to all of these areas and they will be within shouting distance! The site is really safe and I never worry that they will get lost or leave the site. There is also a really nice security guard who comes around and checks on you daily to make sure everything is OK. My friend who came with me has never been camping before and after the first night she wants to come back again at the end of August when hopefully the weather is better as we did have to sit in the car due to rain and not having brought a tarp or any shielding. This is British camping at its best and great for families. Facilities are great, staff are freindly and there is a Nisa shop a few mins drive away to top up on necessities/BBQ food.

The campsite is in a great location on the border of Epping forest. Trails and walking routes through the forest can be accessed directly from the pitches. The organisation of the campsite is good - it's possible for families with small children to book pitches in quiet fields while pitches for larger and potentially louder groups are located in another area of the site.

All the staff I spoke to were very helpful. The toilets and shower blocks were cleaned regularly and always stocked up with soap, toilet roll and hand sanitizer. I would stay again.

We came for a weekend break and were really shocked by the unfriendly and unhelpful staff (should've read the reviews before coming but a friend recommended it!).

For a site with 6 large fields there are only 6 toilets, no showers and one tap per. Field.

We stayed in field 5 which was a lovely surround, great access to the forest but half the pitches (including ours) were on a very steep slope so we didn't get much sleep.

What makes it worse is that one group in the field were chopping down bits of tree and branches to burn on their capm fire. Grumoy security turned up and instead of stopping them, actually seemed to know they and spent time happily chatting away while the group continued to chop their wood with an axe.

That coupled with late night arguments was the icing on the cake.

Newham Council have a gem of an asset here if they could only be bothered to invest in good staff and better facilities.

This was an ideal place for a group of ten inexperienced campers to try out tent life.
Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The toilets, and shower facilities were clean and well maintained, water points were easy to reach, and we had immediate access to beautiful Epping Forest, which was a fantastic place for all of us to explore and appreciate.
The pitches we chose had sufficient space for a group of ten in five tents, and it was great to be able to cook on open fires.
Overall our three days were well worth the money, and everyone who came along in our group wants to come back again, which says it all.

Really enjoyed our two night camping trip, was very easy to book online with a good choice of fields both big open fields and secluded fields amongst the trees. We chose a secluded pitch under the trees for shade as it was very hot weather and this was ideal and a beautiful setting too with a fire pit. The toilets were cleaned regularly and there was a sink area for washing up dishes as well as a drinking water tap to fill up our water carriers and showers in another block near to the reception. Although we didn’t use it there is a facility to empty waste too. I did read on the Facebook page that they sell food and drinks at the weekends but these were not open as we stayed during the week from Thursday til Saturday morning so I’m not sure if these opened after we left best to check that. All in all a lovely couple of days had by myself, my friend and our two boys aged 6 & 7. We walked through the forest, played games and sat round the campfire with marshmallows and hot chocolate. Woke up to lots of different bird and wildlife noises in the morning it was lovely. Definitely will be returning. Thank you.

Hadn't considered Debden before and was pleasantly surprised considering its on my doorstep.

Plenty of space for everyone wether a small or very large groups and enough room for dogs to roam without tok much interference.

Facilities are a bit of a walk from the field, and felt they could do with another toilet block closer to fields 5 &6 for those less able to do the trek but all in all they were reasonably well maintained considering how many people were on site.

The pitches themselves can be somewhat challenging sleeping on slopes so be prepared to roll, but with so many pitches to choose from i'll have a better idea of where to pitch next time. However the view from the top of the hill every morning was glorious.

Take one step behind your pitch and into the forest which was great for the kids to explore without needing to go too far and perfect for a night time walk in the woods.

If you want a peaceful camp/night I'd suggest ear plugs, large groups results in lots more night time noise but for me it was great to hear people enjoying themselves and their nights away from the norm, plus my kids can sleep through most things which helps.

Only given 4 stars until I find the ideal pitch.

We recently booked up a pitch for the weekend for 8 people to enjoy my daughter’s 2nd birthday weekend.

We had a fantastic experience throughout and the staff at reception couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating throughout right from the initial booking phone call.

I phoned up two or three times whilst booking with different queries and reached a kind and helpful man who offered help on pitch size & day guests etc and how I could arrange visits on the Saturday in person for family that we’re due to visit that day.

We were expecting a few different cars full of friends and family members who weren’t camping to visit on the Saturday some of whom are deaf and when the time came, I headed down to reception to inform them that I was going to pay for their passes and asked if there was a way to make the process easier for guests who struggled to speak for themselves. Larissa at the front desk was wonderfully accommodating and taped the day passes to the window with my surname and details so that my guests only had to show that information in text form to receive their passes and be allowed entry easily. I was extremely grateful.

Toilets and washing up facilities were well looked after and well stocked up also.

Overall a wonderful camping experience with a field full of respectful campers and a team of staff willing to go above and beyond. Would recommend to anyone asking about camping in future.

Zak G.

We stayed on the bank holiday weekend so it was quite busy and with a party atmosphere. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Our arrival and first night wasn't so great purely due to some other campers on the field who partied until 3am... it was a hectic loud atmosphere during the day as well with motors going on from bouncy castles and quite a bit of litter from previous guests. I didn't realise at the time that I could have raised this with staff even at the night as they do have a 10am noise limit policy. Others might have enjoyed that fully but we were hoping for more of a quiet stress-free experience. The staff were all very accommodating when I raised the issue and advised me on how to sort out alternatives which worked really well. As a result, the second night was perfect and redeemed the whole trip. The staff were lovely about it and came to check that our new set up was all fine. I'll definitely be back during quieter seasons. The facilities were all cleaned very regularly and the forest behind the campsite is a great place for kids to explore. We fully enjoyed the campfire and space to relax - some fields were alot less busy than others.

We enjoyed our stay at Debden house, its great for a relaxing break in the woods.

We have two children ages 3 and 4 both enjoyed making friends with fellow campers kids,.

I would love to see a play area for the kids as there is only a slide at the moment but can't mark it down for this, there are plenty of rope swings to find in the forest and trees to clime

The security and maintenance team and reception staff were friendly welcoming and not over bearing they would give a wave on their patrols what was nice,

The cleaner was also great doing his rounds the toilets and showers were kept clean. There are 8 showers all in there own little room so you have your privacy.

We love the freedom you have a debden house being able to have a fire is a must for us and you are free to do so,

There are pitches with electric hook up on field 1 we didn't need that and decided to camp in field 2,

Plenty of Washing up points with hot water,

The WiFi was pretty useless but that suited us as my sister come also with her teenager and she had a nice brake from all social media ect and who want WiFi on a camping trip in the forest anyway?!

There's a lidl 4 mins drive or 10mins walk down the Rd for supplies.

All in all everyone had a great time and definitely would recommend for a relaxing trip in the forest.

Memories made that will last a lifetime ❤️
