This really is a hidden gem and a perfect glamping site. Wendy and Andrew went out of their way to make everything perfect, little touches across the whole site has separated it from any other site we have stayed at. As it’s a small site it feels like you are away from the busy world and you can really relax. You can really tell the owners put their life and soul into this place.

Feeding the alpacas and wallabies was such a cool extra. The yurts are large, clean and very private. The log burner is a nice touch that we put on one night when it got a little chilly and gave the place a great feel. There’s a nice pub 10/15 mins walk away too.

We stayed 2 nights but wish we stayed longer, already talking about coming back next year.

Thanks for making our stay so great.

Jack & Beth

We stayed in the beautifully decorated and cosy bluebell log cabin. Situated just off the lake in the grounds, the log cabin made for the most peaceful and tranquil getaway.

The facilties were excellent and I loved the idea of the communal kitchen- I think this would be perfect for a party of 8, especially with the fire pit by the lake and pizza oven!

We chose Acorn Glade as we both work quite busy and hectic schedules, and wanted to recharge and destress from city life. We had 2 nights there(wished we'd booked 3) and instantly I felt well rested and refreshed after the 1st!

The hosts were lovely, making sure we had everything we needed, but never intrusive at any point.

Can't think of anyone I wouldn't recommend Acorn Glade to!

We spent two nights at Acorn Glade 2-4th September. It’s a really lovely, quiet place. We stayed in the log cabin and felt this allowed us to have all our creature comforts and a spot of luxury whilst feeling close to nature. Tea and coffee facilities and a log burner were great features of the cabin. The bed was large and super comfy. It also has a composting toilet attached in case you didn’t want to walk back to the toilet and shower block (which were only a short walk and were very lovely facilities too). It’s not like other sites where you might feel over crowded with too many people either. A kitchen is also available if you need any extra cooking facilities. Wendy and Andrew were on hand to help with any queries and they were taking covid security seriously so we always felt safe. Also lovely to meet the Wallaby’s and Alpacas too. Whilst staying we went on walks, went stand up paddle boarding at Allerthorpe Lake and had lunch at Burnby Hall Gardens. Lots of choice of restaurants and pubs locally too (a short drive). We really enjoyed the stay and hope to return again when we can. Thank you Wendy and Andrew.

Hi Lu, so glad you both enjoyed your stay. There certainly is plenty to do in the surrounding area from exploring the wonderful walks locally to the beautiful Wolds five miles away. We believe your safety and ours is tantamount to remaining open and enabling guests to escape from their 'normal' for a complete break. We have only opened three accommodations at a time to adhere to government guidelines. Do return to retreat, relax, reconnect and recharge.

We arrived on a very wet and windy afternoon and it was impossible to venture out without being blown away but it didn’t matter at all. The chalet was spotlessly clean with a fully fitted kitchen so a coffee was made and we sat and watched the sea crashing against the rocks through the huge window. The view from the chalet and the patio are incredible and the whole week was so peaceful (and the weather arrived too!)
It is well equipped and very comfortable, there are sun loungers, deck chairs and a picnic bench with parasol for use. The kitchen had all of the utensils that you would need with a microwave, toaster, double oven and a large fridge freezer.
The heating for the first couple of days warmed up very quickly and when it got warmer we opened the windows to get a breeze through but there is an air conditioning unit/fan available.
The WiFi, for those who want it, appeared to be good.

The chalet is set in a gated community which is accessible to the public as there are a few small beaches which were popular with surfers and body boarders. The gate however was locked at 7.30 so a key is provided if you are out past this time, consequently the area is very quiet.
It is set on a coastal path but we could only walk in one direction as there was some building work at Fort Bovisand and we couldn’t find our way around it but we drove in that direction and you can park there in a free car park and walk around to Hooe and Plymouth.
The walk east towards Wembury was great, alternating between spacious coastal views and narrow overgrown paths. There is a very pretty cafe, the Old Mill, on the walk which is highly recommended and a pub- the Eddystone Inn (again with incredible views) at Heybrook Bay. Continue on the coast as far as you can and you arrive at the river Yealm where you can get a ferry across the river. We stopped at this point and walked back- about 9 miles in total.
A visit to Plymouth Aquarium took care of a half rainy day and because you have to book a slot due to Covid it wasn’t busy at all. It was a very interesting and informative visit and the ‘big’ fish are fascinating to watch.
The Barbican area is lovely and I would imagine on a sunny day it would be buzzing but it was too wet for that.
Our week was mostly spent walking and there are lots and lots of walks of varying lengths around.
The Middle Valley Dart Walk, starting in Totnes,
Burrator Reservoir (start in Meavy as there are woods to walk through) and the river walk at Loddiswell were all beautiful, taking in woods and rivers.
Tavistock and Totnes are lovely towns to visit, lots of eateries and independent shops. Salcombe is well worth a visit but don’t drive into town as the streets are narrow - park at the top and walk down so you can take in the views and the incredible houses.
All in all, we had an amazing week in this part of the world and thank you to Heather for being a perfect host and answering our queries promptly.

We had a midweek break to Acorn Glade staying in the Log cabin . We were met by Wendy who is a first class host ,so genuinely friendly and welcoming .
The log cabin was so lovely . Everything had been thought of to make your stay comfortable. Sitting at night with the log burner on was just heaven
The kitchen was spotless and had everything you could ever need including stove ,toaster, kettle. The plates and cutlery were all separated for each unit .
The site is so quiet and relaxing with lovely walks nearby
I can highly recommend staying here We are already looking to book another break with other members of our family.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at acorn glade glamping.
We needed to step away from the treadmill of life and recharge our batteries , I can honestly say they are now fully charged.
The site was peaceful and really well thought out with everything you could need.
Wendy and Andrew were warm and friendly hosts and could not do enough to make your stay relaxing and memorable.
The site amenities were spotless and everything you needed, loved the little touches, even the herd of alpacas were amusing to watch.
We came away for my Partners birthday and they even put up a handcrafted birthday banner which was a lovely touch.
We stayed in Bluebell Cabin and it was so cosy and welcoming with the log burner and spent the evening sitting on our double rocking chair looking at the night sky and listening to mother nature on the veranda.
I would highly recommend Acorn Glade and will definately be paying another visit.
Thank you so much Wendy and Andrew for creating such a lovely place to getaway.

Our recent stay in the Daisy Yurt at Acorn Glade Glamping was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the serene beauty, tranquility and calmness that enveloped the entire site. We loved it so much we don’t want you to read this review so it remains free for us to book!

The yurt itself was a cozy haven, exuding a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comforts. The interior was tastefully decorated, with thoughtfully chosen furnishings that added a touch of elegance to the overall ambiance, making it feel homely and like it was somewhere we should have always been. The comfortable bed provided a restful night's sleep, and the warm lighting inside, whether from the candles, fire or lamps created a truly magical atmosphere during the evenings. Surrounded by the enchanting woodlands, the yurt's location was a nature lover's dream come true. Waking up to the gentle rustling of leaves and birdsong, along with the adorable alpacas that visited in the mornings, was incredibly rejuvenating. The yurt's private deck allowed us to soak in the breathtaking views while sipping our morning coffee, and it was the ideal spot for stargazing at night.

The attention to detail by Wendy & Andrew is exceptional. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was flawless, accommodating all our needs with a smile and friendly chat, no request was too much, with their daughter even popping into town to pick us up a loaf of bread that we had forgotten to buy. Their genuine hospitality made us feel right at home and added a personal touch that made our experience even more special. The shared kitchen, showers, and amenities were beautiful and very clean with each retreating having their own cups, plates etc so no fighting over that one mug everyone likes!

One highlight of our stay was exploring the nearby walking trails and nature paths. The picturesque landscapes and wildlife encounters made every step an adventure worth cherishing. Whether we were hiking through along the canal or just visiting the local villages, the connection to nature was invigorating and soul-nourishing.

Acorn Glade Glamping has truly mastered the art of creating an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Their commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the area while providing guests with a comfortable and unforgettable experience is commendable. Our stay in Daisy surpassed all expectations. We left with hearts full of gratitude and cherished memories that will stay with us forever. The alpacas, the beautiful amenities, and the warm hospitality made our stay truly unforgettable. We have already booked our next visit!

We arrived at Acorn Glade no problem by following phone sat nav direct to the location, which was well signposted.
Wendy and Andrew greeted us on our arrival, they are the friendliest and most helpful people that you’ll ever meet. They showed us around and offered advice on the area. The site is a hidden piece of heaven, so relaxing and quiet, and there’s nothing better than waking up to a lake and Alpacas roaming around.
We stayed in Bluebell Lodge, overlooking the lake. The room was spacious, had lots of storage and tea/coffee making facilities. Wendy and Andrew have thought of everything, USB ports are available powered by solar energy, spare hot water bottle and umbrellas are available, it is decorated beautifully and little cute quotations can be found around the lodge. The log burner was outstanding, keeping the lodge lovely and warm, with more wood delivered by Wendy and Andrew.
We got to see the Wallabys, and Andrew was kind enough to let us meet and stroke Sydney and give us some education on their species and links to Australia.
We were initially apprehensive about communal facilities, but these are maintained so well by Wendy, Andrew and the showing of respect from other guests, that these have to be the best communal facilities that we’ve ever seen. The composting toilet in Bluebell Lodge is great if you need a midnight toilet dash. The ‘chicken shed’ kitchen area has everything that you need for self catering and the little wellbeing room next door is lovely with books and an arcade game (our favourite).
We made the mistake of booking too much in York throughout our stay, and wish we’d have enjoyed this picturesque place so much more, we would definitely visit again and highly recommend this hidden gem. Thank you so much Wendy and Andrew for making our weekend so amazing.

It sounds like you had an absolutely wonderful stay at Acorn Glade! We are so pleased that it exceeded your expectations. The location, overlooking the lake and with alpacas roaming around, is an idyllic setting for a relaxing getaway. It's great to hear that you found Bluebell Lodge to be well-appointed, with thoughtful touches like USB ports powered by solar energy and spare hot water bottles. The log burner is a lovely addition, especially for cooler cozy evenings in. Meeting and learning about the Wallabys from Andrew must have been one of the highlights of your stay! It's always reassuring to hear that communal facilities are well-maintained and that guests show respect for one another. The composting toilet in Bluebell Lodge and the "chicken shed" kitchen area are both unique and well-equipped. It's also great to hear that you enjoyed the little 'Roost" room with its books and arcade game. It's a shame that you didn't have more time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Acorn Glade, but it sounds like you would definitely return and highly recommend it to others. We truly appreciate your kind words. Thanks for sharing your experience! Warmest regards and we look forward to welcoming you back.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at acorn glade glamping and wow. The place is absolutely idyllic. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The cabins are so cute and wonderfully clean we stayed in the bluebell which had the added bonus of the composting toilet however the main toilet is nothing of a walk. We were shown round by Wendy when we arrived and she couldn't have been nicer. We met Andrew later on and they were both very accommodating . They have a kitchen lovingly called the chicken shed that had everything you could want , there is also a communal firepit and bbq. The alpacas walking past our cabin in the morning was amazing and we got to feed the wallabies. Wendy even let me name one of the new babies 😍 i named it bouncer. We had a fantastic stay and have just re booked for another stay in August. Thankyou Wendy and Andrew for a lovely stay.

We spent 6 nights in the bluebelle wooden cabin with a wonderful log burner and romantic solar lighting. Tastefully furnished, not what I was expecting for our first glamping experience. We were made to feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. I was also able to feed Coscoe, one of the alpacas, from my hand. Already looking forward to going back again.

We don't have any sockets in any of our washrooms or showers for safety reasons. There is a double outside socket along with mirrors outside of the chicken shed so that folks can dry their hair. For courtesy to other guests and for health reasons we don't advocate drying your hair in the actual kitchen area.
