I could give chapter and verse, I'll just say that I was booked in for three nights but left after only one! I was of course charged for the three nights regardless. My experience started badly when on arrival I was ignored by the two barmaids, who were doing nothing, for a full 5 minutes before someone else arrived to...

A really quaint and authentic Inn. Built in 1719 the bar retains original features. The bedrooms, however, are very comfortable with ensure facilties. The food W's tasty, plentiful and value for money. The scots lady in charge of (it seemed like everything!) was most welcoming and so friendly and helpful. I would recommend unreservedly and will certainly stay again.

Four ales on hand pull. In theory. Two were off and one wasn't great. Barman was shambolic with a virtually empty bar. Which is a shame as I've been before and it was busy, efficient and with good ales. What's happened?

A lovely quaint old pub dating back several hundred years. We arrived late afternoon and were shown to our room by a lovely scottish lady. She informed us of dining times and breakfast etc. We had a few drinks and asked to eat in the bar which was not a problem. The food was fantastic and the portion sizes very...

A lovely cosy pub, with friendly attentive staff. Basic pub grub at a reasonable price - so you won't go wrong if that's what you're looking. I had a chicken and chorizo burger, and it was excellent - whilst my wife had the cod and chips- very fresh fat fish, so extremely happy. Recommended.

Hard to say anything bad about this wonderful old coaching inn.The location in an idyllic Lakeland village with great views and convenient for the Northern Lakes. Ulswater just down the road. The staff without exception were friendly and helpful and the food and drink excellent and reasonably priced. Small but comfortable bedroom. We will be back.

My husband and I spent one night here, driving down from Glasgow to the North Yorkshire coast. It's two hours from Glasgow Airport which makes it the perfect distance for jet-lagged travellers like us. From first to last, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, settling us into the pub while we waited for our room to be ready, making...

There are 2 Queen's Heads about 2/3 miles apart. Don't mistake the one opposite Askham Hall gardens with the one in Tirril-easily done as we found out! Nice little pub with grub & adequate accommodation.

Fantastic Atmosphere. Amazing Service and Gorgeous Food n Drink... The only very, very very, minor negative is, I'm 6'2 and some of the beams were a challenge but it's an ancient and very historical building and that's what you expect and love BUT I managed and NOT ONCE did I bang my head, which is an outstanding achievement, when I...

I stayed overnight and enjoyed a superb meal. Calamari is one of my favourites but has to be done well which it was. I then had duck breast which is one of the best I have tasted - pink but crispy and very tasty. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service.
