Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here 2 nights for a wedding. Room was clean, hotel was quiet and the complimentary breakfast each day was a nice surprise. We had additional guest checking in on the actual wedding day and all were allowed in their room a bit early in order to change for the wedding. Thank you !

Stayed at the Quality Inn for one night with family. The front desk staff were friendly and very accommodating. We had booked two rooms both with two queen beds. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The room also had a fridge and microwave. The bathroom was not fancy, but had a single sink and bathtub/shower combination. There was a good supply of towels. The room also had a small coffee pod machine with a supply of coffee and tea. There was a fitness room and an indoor pool on site as well. Continental breakfast was provided in a room with lots of seating off of the lobby. It included cereals, muffins, toast and fruit cups along with yogurt and coffee/tea/juice boxes. The waffle machine was not working. Overall, it was a good stay.

The staff were very professional & courteous. The pool area is great. We loved the spacious clean room with new flooring. Great variety in the fitness room. Worth the price & a great continental breakfast. No complaints. Located in a convenient area of Owen Sound.

This hotel has bedbugs. We booked 2 nights, but did not stay for the second. after a week we have not heard anything about a refund. We would never go back. Photographs were taken shortly after we checked in when we checked one of the queen beds in a double queen room.

I booked this hotel as they list that they have an in door swimming pool (under repair), on premise restaraunt - permitly close and a pool table not available. They only provide housekeeping every 3 days and my bed smelt like some one had urinated on one corner, but because the sheets were clean there was nothing that could be done. I asked to speak with a manager and was told that he only briefly would stop by once a week and we would be gone by then. There are other nice hotels in the immediate area that I wish I would have booked.

Arrived at the hotel in the middle of the worst blizzard in decades! The front office check in person was so welcoming... the kitchen manager had prepared a bunch of boxed dinners which the hotel offered to guests free of charge do to the fact that the restaurant was closed and there was no hope of getting a delivery from take out due to the horrendous conditions. The next day Jennifer, on the front desk, who was soooo friendly and helpful, was flexible on our check out so we could wait to see if the highways opened!! The room was very clean and pleASant.

While I understand that rates applied are based on demand I cannot consider this hotel anything but mediocre. In all fairness to booking.com I have to say there was enough information available for me not to reserve 3 nights here but availability of rooms in the area was very low. The hotel is quite old and very appealing. Rooms are partially renovated but the washroom was awful. Worst yet was the lack of staff available to clean rooms and replace used towel with clean ones. While the pandemic is not fully over it can not longer be used as an excuse not to look after a guest room that has booked multiple nights. One last thing is breakfast....it was awful and in my opinion any hotel management that does not know that " it is better not to offer breakfast rather then offering a lousy one" should really look into pursuing another career.

So disappointed. I've stayed at Quality Inns many times and this was not up to the usual standards. We booked a King Suite with pull-out sofa. I travelled with my sister and a friends (ages 55, 57 and 59) for beach and site seeing. We specifically said three women travelling together and we needed the pull-out sofa. No one made note of that. When we got there, the sofa-bed was not made up and there were no sheets or extra towels for the third person. We asked to have the sofa-bed made up and were told "No", due to covid, they could not enter the room. Fine.. understandable, but it should have been made before we got there. The second issue was the sofa-bed, itself. It was AWFUL. The mattress was literally four inches thick and nothing but coils. The first night on the bed was horrendous and I was being poked by coils all night. Further, it was clearly old and in dire need of replacement. It was sagging and there was no support in the sofa at all. If you offer a sofa "Bed" then, someone SHOULD be able to sleep comfortably in it! In the morning we asked for a new mattress. Front desk was less than helpful. Apparently, they had no mattresses, no extra blankets to pad the mattress and no solutions to our problem. The agent at the front desk actually said: "Some people bring their own air mattresses". Why on earth would we bring air mattresses to a hotel which is supposed to supply the bed and bedding????? After going back and forth, we asked to change rooms and were told there were no other rooms and they were fully booked. The front desk showed no concern at all and made no attempt whatsoever to resolve the issue. We went back to our room angry and disappointed. Front desk ended up calling us about 30 minutes later to tell us they could move us to a room with two queen beds because someone "cancelled" and we were told we would be able to move. Too convenient and unbelievable. I don’t believe anyone cancelled. We also had some issues with the bathroom. In the first room (King suite with pull-out sofa) the sink was draining very slowly. When we moved to the second room (Two queen beds) again, the sink was draining very slowly and then stopped draining completely. We had to have it serviced. General maintenance on the rooms was substandard. I should not have to ask to have the sink unclogged. This should be standard maintenance, and the fact that it happened in both rooms tells me that these things are done only when someone complains. Also, in the room with the two queen beds, the toilet was wobbly. It was not secured and it literally rocked back and forth when you sat down. Things like this should not happen. It's just poor maintenance and a general lack of respect for the client who has to put up with it. I strongly feel, if we book a room for three people, then all three of those people should have a comfortable sleep and Quality Inn, Owen Sound, failed miserably in this respect. And one last thing...This hotel felt "gerry-rigged" for lack of a better word. Even from one room to the other, nothing was consistent. The blow dryers were different. One had some heat, the other just blew air. The toilets where different heights. (The one toilet was so low, it was a struggle to sit down and to get back up again without support. Where short toilets on sale or something? WTF?) In the King suite, there was a comfortable armchair, a desk and a desk chair. In the Queen room, there was no comfortable arm chair. It was a crappy, uncomfortable chair with a low back, so you could not even lean back on it. There was a desk, but no desk chair. There was no consistency and no attempt to maintain a standard within the hotel. I'm budget conscious and I've chosen Quality Inn partially for the budget aspect, so I'm not expecting a 4 or 5 star experience, but this was just cheap and sad. Overall, it was a disappointing stay. As I said, I've stayed at Quality Inn in many different cities -- Montreal, Quebec City, Niagara Falls, etc. and several cities in the USA, and this was just not up to the standard I am familiar with from Quality Inn. This hotel needs to be reviewed by Corporate.

I've had good experience with Quality Inn as a chain. Their motels are typically no frill but clean, things in working order and staff polite and efficient. This Quality Inn in Owen Sound however, felt a little below that standard, mostly in the area of service quality of the staff. There're quite a few little things. The staff were polite but not too responsive nor too helpful. Every time I asked for anything, I first got brushed off. And even when I insist, I got only half-hearted response. It start with answering the phone. Half of the time the phone wasn't answer. I had to go down to the receptionist in person. And even that, once or twice, I was asked to wait when the staff disappeared into the back, presumably to do something else more important. Breakfast for the one day I was there, happened to be running short. But a new shipment had just came in. So I asked if I should come back in 1/2 hr when they re-stock the breakfast area. "No, breakfast will finish at 9". Well, I'd be happy to "finish at 9" if there were food to be had! It isn't like I was late. In the mean time, there's a line forming of people who needed food. Long story short, by the time we all got our "orders" in, and the staff fished them out of the new shipment, it was well past the "breakfast closing time" anyway. So why the attitude? The rooms are "clean'ish". But again, it just wasn't quite the same standard of their brand-mates. Basically, in terms of value, this one isn't quite worth it.
