Mook Lamai is the first hotel of one of Koh Mook's original and well respected families. Our family has been here for generations and will be for generations to come. Members of our family have left the island and gained our educations in other countries but we never forgot where 'home' is. We are here to stay and so consequently have a vested interest in providing the best the island has to offer. Our stylishly designed 'tropical contemporary' villas are set in a mature garden and surrounded by rose-apple, mango, cashew nut and frangipani trees. We feel we have combined a homely charm along with cool surfaces, simple, tasteful and elegant. We are intent on proving to our guests that all tours, trips and activities are of the highest quality. We intend the brand 'Mook Lamai' to be a byword for the finest in service and leisure provision. We are not a corporation, we are family owned and managed and proud of it. Welcome to Mook Lamai, we are happy to welcome you to our resort and to our island.

This hotel was absolutely fabulous. Tid the hotel manager is the nicest person I have ever met. A friend of mine, also staying in Ko Muk but not at this hotel, needed help planning a proposal and Tip was not only willing to help but ensured that everything went perfectly. He arranged a boat for us to get to a secluded island right at sunset at the entire experience was magical. He even voluntarily gathered flowers from the grounds to make a bouquet. I can not say enough about how awesome he is and would go back just to see him again.

The grounds of the hotel are well kept and beautiful but it’s the location that I loved most. Its in the center of the island and the staff will drive you by taxi anywhere else for free making transport a non-issue. I also rented a motorbike for 250bt a day which wasn’t really necessary but I liked having the added mobility. I’m sure some people would prefer to be beach front because the beaches on Ko Mook are lovely but the advantage to staying centrally was that I wasn’t really very far from any place on the island as opposed to picking the sunset or sunrise side. I loved this.

The air con in the rooms is luxurious. A few nights the outside humidity was pretty intense but i didn’t feel it at all in the room. The bathroom was open but covered so it was a little sticky at times but completely fine and manageable.

The included breakfast was simple but great. I had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich every day. Basic but delicious.

The resort has bikes to borrow, ping-pong and a nice pool for relaxing which is also not as common on Ko Muk. I really enjoyed the Pool after beach lounging.

I also did a couples massage with my boyfriend which wasn’t the best we’ve had in Thailand but the ladies at the spa we’re warm, friendly and hospitable.

I really can’t think of anything that was bad about my experience. I highly recommend this resort. It’s just lovely.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time here.

Ted and the lovely staff were soooo helpful organising motorbikes and tuk-tuks for us. The breakfast was very good as well, some of the best pancakes I have had in a long time.

The rooms are very stylish with brushed concrete walls and fixtures. What was also nice was the baked goods that were left in your room every night.

We also caught a longboat from Charlie Beach to Koh Libong for 1500bht with Su, who ferried us across the water safely.

What this place lacks in luxury it most definitely makes up for in service!

We spend four weeks in Thailand and NO ONE was as nice and friendly as the staff at Mook Lamai Resort!

It is absolutely impossible to recommend this place enough!

The room cleaning was done every day while we where having breakfast, leaving cut pineapple or cookies at our room.

The staff also took so much care of our little daughter, making sure her stay was as nice as ours.

Every room is close to the very nice pool area and the hotel has free tuk tuks to where ever you want to go on the island including the different beaches.

The restaurant serves delicious food so you don’t have to go out during the warm hours around lunch time.

We stayed at Mook Lamia resort for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there, the room was clean with great air conditioning, we had accommodation with a private plunge pool which was nice to use in the hot afternoons. The location of the hotel is good, a 10 minute walk into town and 5 minutes by tuk tuk to the beach. We ate at the hotel restaurant on a couple of occasions and this was also excellent, they have local Thai food but also offer excellent pizza (they own the Italian restaurant across the road).
The hotel manager Tid was really helpful arranging our boat tickets and even taking us to the beach on the complimentary hotel tuk tuk… he has a great team of staff behind him all of them being very polite and helpful. We will definitely stay here again and next time for longer!

Stayed on Koh Mook at Mook Lamai in january and had an amazing time. Koh Mook is a fantastic locals island. the resort is family run and staff and managers can not be more friendly or attentive . food was very good and the rooms are lovley, and the pool area is fab.
they arranged a pick up from the pier and dropped us off which was nice, they also provide a taxi to and from Charlie beach, where you can sunbathe, snorkel, dine and get a drink at the Mong Bar.

Absolutely loved this hotel.
First impressions were how kind and welcoming the staff are and how clean the whole place is.
We were welcomed by Tit and his team who gave us cool drinks and showed us our room.
Gorgeous room (swim up room) with sun loungers and then direct access to the pool which was spotless. The pool is cleaned early mornings by a member of the team.
The room was very tidy with lots of storage and a fridge, a counter with a kettle and two bottles of water provided.
The towels smell lovely. We were told if we needed anything at all to just ask and then left to settle in and relax. It’s very quiet and peaceful, especially at night.
The breakfasts were absolutely exceptional. Best I’ve ever had in Thailand. We were given a menu and told to ask for anything we wanted off the lists and it was made fresh to order. The bacon, omelettes and pancakes were perfectly cooked and delicious. I miss the omelettes already! Very generous portions and after we finished we were asked “more coffee? More juice? More food?” Honestly, those staff are wonderful. Kae is funny and happy and helpful, she is an asset to the team. They are all wonderful.
The island itself is beautiful.
The food is gorgeous and fresh (everywhere we went it was delicious) the people are so kind and friendly.
I would say that the mook lamai is without a doubt my favourite hotel in all of Thailand.
You MUST try this place.
Thank you all for your hard work. We loved being your guests and will definitely be returning in the future.
Also, I’d like to add that the gardeners work so so hard to keep the grounds pristine.
Such a fantastic team of people who all work as a team to ensure this hotel is excellent in every way.

We loved this hotel and it felt like we were the only ones there with our own pool! The staff - simply amazing!! We left our wallet in Koh lipe, they arranged for it to arrive later that day on a speed boat - they collected it for us while we were on Charlie’s beach! They take you anywhere you want to go - the service is truly out of this world. Breakfast was ordered from the menu and we even had a fresh mango from the tree! Dinner was also delicious. If you are still deciding where to go then book this hotel you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful stay in a magical family resort.
We stayed a week with the whole family (2 children) and enjoyed great accommodation and food and most importantly a diligent and helpful staff and family members who were looking to fulfill our every wish. The room was clean and comfortable and equipped with all necessary comforts (including AC in every room).
Pool was of generous size and super clean. Staff was around at every hour to provide advice for tours, snorkeling and trekking as well as for food (including pizza!) and drinks. Charlie beach (the closest to the resort) is a long stretch of white sand with crystalline water.
Great stay in a super modern and friendly resort on a jewel of an island.
Would recommend for both couples as well as families with children.

I stayed 4 nights with friends, and we had a fantastic time. The service level at this hotel is amazing! The host was so accommodating and helpful in guiding us on trips and outings and helping us to book transfer to the airport. In addition, the hotel offers free shuttles with tuktuks from the hotel wherever on the island, whenever you want to go. We stayed in one of the villas with private pool (quite small, but with jacuzzi!), and the room/villa was perfect. Clean, spacious, comfortable and with everything we needed. Also with complimentary water and sodas, which was refilled every day. The common pool area was also nice, with comfortable sun loungers, and the entire area of the hotel was extremely well kept and nice. Breakfast was cooked to order, and the restaurant to the hotel had great food as well. So all in all can only give my warmest recommendations.

We had booked 6 nights- unfortunately we had a rat in our villa with roughtop pool that emerged when we were about to sleep. This incident reflects put bad review ss this is not acceptable to us.

However i must say that the staff handles the situation good. We were moved to pawapi hotel next day and the staff at Lamai really apologized and took action. We Got a minor refund for the lost night - in our eyes it should have been more as we lost one day of travel. However Lamai argued that the new resort was more expensive.

I was really impressed of the staff that was alltime happy and a bit sad of the bad rat experience.

Response from Lamai Lapsirisopa, Owner at Mook Lamai Resort and Spa
Responded 16 Dec 2023
Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing to stay with us. As you know, our staff resort did apologizes right after being informed by you about an unpleasant stay and try their best to rectify the situation by transferring you to Pawapi Beach Resort for remaining 5 nights with bigger room and better view, beach view, and almost double room rate compared to the room you booked at our resort. And as a compensation from our resort, we paid the total room charge to Pawapi Beach resort for your entire stay. As informed you, a pet control company did come to inspect and did necessary process before the opening season at the beginning of November. And right after you have been transferred to Pawapi Beach Resort, we did ask a pet control company to inspect / check our resort again. During your stay at Pawapi Beach Resort, you texted us and asked for the compensation before you are about to write a review. 3 days later, you called us to follow up; here are what we proposed you: 1. A full refund of 6 nights (included one night stay at our resort) in exchange of which you have to pay total room charge to Pawapi Beach Resort (5 nights stay). You said you had to talk to your wife and since then we have not heard from you whether you’d like to take this option; a full refund of room charge from our resort exchange with you are fully responsible on total room charge to Pawapi. 2. After learning that before you checked out, you still had two outstanding bills at our resort for food and beverage and laundry (together almost thousand baht), we then also offered you those two bills as complimentary. Again, we indeed apologizes for unpleasant stay and we tried giving you option on full refund but you never come back to us on your decision. Regards, Lamai

I guess you can use the spa treatments and I expect that if you use a spa treatment, you can also make use of the swimming pool. However to be sure, I would advise to ask the resort themselves.

Dear Rob, You fly to Krabi International Airport If there is a direct flight from UK. And our resort can arrange an airport transfer for 3,000฿/one way/two person. This includes a van and a boat and takes about 2:30 hours to reach our resort, or 80 km for the distance. If not, then you would have to Suvarnabhumi Airport from UK, then it would recommend you to fly from Don Muang Airport (Bangkok) to Trang Airport. There are 3 airlines; - Air Asia (3 flights/day, every day) - Nok Air (3 flights/day, every day) - Thai Lion Air (2 flights/day, no flight on Thursday) From Trang airport, we can arrange an airport transfer (a van plus a boat) for 1,800฿/one way/2 persons. It will take 1:30 hour or 38 km for the distance. Please let me know if you need more info or require any assistance. Best regards, Lamai

Krabi or Phuket. It's a 4 to 6h trip to Mook from either of those airports, combining van plus ferry. Don't use Tigerline if you can, they are not very reliable; our ferries were always about 2 to 3H late. Check amazinglanta or Phuketferry for trip rates. Enjoy!
