I hardly know where to start. We booked this because the price was reasonable, and it had some decent reviews. Big mistake. We were two couples, seniors, well travelled, but all agreed this was the worst place we had ever stayed, from the moment we pulled in the driveway. We had to pay in full when we checked in. Went to the rooms, and it took 5 minutes of jiggling the key in the lock, then a shove with a shoulder to get in. Musty, old smell. One of the beds tilted sideways as if it had a broken leg. Curtains worn and suspiciously "see-through". Threadbare bedding. Security chain on door broken. Bathroom sink did not drain and smelled disgusting. No towel racks - what do we do with our wet used towels??? No coffee maker, no breakfast unless you go to office and PAY for coffee or instant Ramen noodles. Wifi didn't work. Went to office to see about the Wifi, and there was another couple checking in, having trouble with the credit card reader. The clerk got angry and frustrated, and THREW THE OFFICE PHONE ACROSS THE ROOM! That was our hint to leave the office and not complain. Back in the room, pulled the bedside table out from the wall to access the plug, and there was a pile of potato chips on the floor back there. Bedside lamp did not work. Bathroom light over sink did not work. When we came back to the room after being out all day, our little pile of wet towels was still in the tub. No one had come to change the towels. And we couldn't hang them up and reuse them because, I repeat, there were no towel racks in the bathroom! These issues were the same for both rooms we booked. Why didn't we leave after one night? We decided to just tough it out. Only positives were that our rooms were away from the road and quiet, and the lovely lady who checked us in was polite and spoke 3 languages. The best part, I guess, is that this stay has given the four of us a huge laugh in retrospect. We will forever be talking about "that awful motel in Granby".

Short notice trip, needed a place to stay for a short overnight stay. It's been a long time since I've stayed at a non-chain motel. This looked good enough and it was in the right location at the right price, so why not, even after reading the reviews here. While their listing states the front desk is open 24 hrs as we got 2hrs away I received a call stating that the front desk closed at 10pm. I explained that we couldn't make it by then and what their listing stated. They replied don't worry, that they will stay. It just put a little pressure to get there quick. So of course I drove by it as their sign out front had some burnt out lights on it on the one side. Finally got there and they were friendly and welcoming. The room was more nostalgic than we expected but fun too. It was clean and comfortable enough even though it had signs of being well used. The shower was a little short, good for me, but not for anyone over 6 feet. Anyways we had a good albeit short stay here, other than the phone call no complaints. It worked.

The old saying is you get what you pay for and in this case it could not be more accurate. Rooms are old and show their age not only the decor but in smell. The rooms ( our group had two) had a very strong odour of cigarettes although rooms are designated no smoking but obviously the result of years of smoking in the rooms. After dropping a sweater on the floor we foolishly looked under the bed and found quite a few cigarette butts and obviously years of dust. We just wanted a place to lay our heads after a great couple days at the Granby Zoo but if you’re at all picky or fussy spend a little more….I would not stay here again

I booked this hotel June 18th, 2022. We were to check in July 22nd, with my husband, grandson and I. On the 20th, I developed a detached retina. I had surgery that day and am booked for another surgery tomorrow. My daughter called in and tried to cancel. They were beyond rude. Saying she could not speak to the manager. She was actually laughed at. I called today. There was no way I could get any refund. Nothing. That was the rules. Absolutely no compromise. This was 48 hours in advance that we tried to cancel. They were extremely rude, did not put me on hold. Kept talking in French. I feel we were treated like garbage as we do not speak French.

Other than the very friendly woman at the front desk, there is a lot wrong with this property. Upon first glance, the room looked fine, but on closer inspection, the laminate floor was extremely dusty and the bathroom floor dirty. It took 5 minutes to get hot water from the shower. There were 2 entrance/exit doors and the locks were a joke- old key entry and night latches in both doors that a toddler could have kicked in. When we arrived, the back door wasn’t even locked. My friend was afraid to sleep here unless I agreed to keep the bathroom light on all night. It’s an old style L shaped motel with an outdoor pool in the middle and could be okay with a LOT of work. The surrounding area was not nice and when I went for a walk, the only option was to walk along the busy road. The only place I saw to get a bite to eat was a take out pizza place. I would never return.

Their site is not updated to show current condition of rooms. We stayed in 1 bedroom for 2 nights and I would never suggest anyone who likes clean rooms to stay there. You can hear person in next room talking.

I took my daughter here for a two night stay to visit the zoo. When we walked in the room, it had a terrible odour. There were flies everywhere and none of the doors worked properly. The bed sheets were stained (thankfully we brought our own pillows). The fridge was on its last leg. My daughter used a white towel to clean her feet after a swim and the bottom of the towel was black from the filthy floors. The t.v. Didn’t work properly. The air conditioner didn’t cool the room. The distance to the zoo on the website says 5 minutes but it’s actually 15. On our way out, I stopped at the front desk to drop off my key and waited 20 minutes for someone to come. The pictures on the website don’t reflect the motel at all. I do not recommend this place at all. I have travelled a lot in my days and have stayed at hostels which were cleaner than this place. So disappointed.

We stayed for 2 night with our family of 4 (children 9 and 5). Our room had 2 queen beds. There was a door to the parking lot and a door to the courtyard where the pool was located. Check-in was quick and efficient. The desk staff was friendly and bilingual. The room was mostly clean. The entry and bathroom had tiled floor which had some sort of residue on it. It felt slimy. When we wiped it with a towel, the towel was black, so we wore our shoes in the room. I assume the carpet wasn't that clean either. The beds were clean. One was comfortable but the other was not so much. It was clear one was much newer than the other and was a few inches thicker. The pillows were great, though I realized they actually put 2 in each pillowcase. It made them really comfortable but I found it funny that they wouldn't just have better pillows to begin with. However, the double pillows worked so no complaint there. The A/C was a wall unit that was really loud, though it did cool the room sufficiently. It was the only thing that helped drown out the noise of our neighbours, but more on that later. The pool was relatively clear. The chemicals seemed to be mostly balanced, however for a pool that they are proud to inform you is heated, it was really cold. I stepped on the first step and opted not to swim. The kids lasted about 10 minutes before their lips were blue and had to get out. Housekeeping did not make the beds. This didn't bother me, I just found it surprising. All they did was bring new towels. The courtyard made for a nice central space to meet if there with others. We were not, but it was nice and we saw other families sitting out there visiting. Breakfast was served in the front building. It was an American breakfast with eggs, protein, toast, and hash browns. It was pretty good and the service was quick. The negatives...there were 2 large bags of trash sitting outside our door in the courtyard making it hard to open our door to the courtyard. They were not ours and were not removed by cleaning staff throughout our stay. The soundproofing between rooms was non-existent. Not only did the neighbour's A/C unit wake me up every time it came on (ours did too), but we heard every word they said. I genuinely felt bad that they were sick, as someone was up coughing really bad frequently throughout the night. Their coughing would wake up the baby, who would cry for a long time until it fell back to sleep...and repeat. Needless to say, I did not sleep well. The price was over $500 for 2 nights. For a hotel that provided a solid budget motel service, I would expect to pay much less. We did have passes to the zoo included in that rate, but it was still pretty pricey considering. Bottom line...would we stay there again? Maybe. The location was good and we enjoyed the zoo, but the motel was pretty budget for a champagne price. It seemed competitive for the town, but I think I would opt to drive further and save some money.

After reading reviews, we took a chance go book a night at Bonsoir. After a very difficult converation over the poor reception phone and some language barrier, i asked for email confirmation which is standard, which i was told i had to initiate it first??? In short: - decided not to stay - Linda not very professional - Her cleaning ladies work was more important than her paying $ guests special needs - Asked to have early access to room to freshen up from our long trip with 2 small children, but was asked to use the public reception bathroom - terrible customer service, basically she informed me not to confirm our stay because our request could not be guaranteed, which we understood but has never been a problem anywhere we stayed 100+ hotels - Left a bad taste in my mouth after reading other bad reviews, cleaniness - Cancelling our stay, very displeased and shocked - Asked to have GM and Owner email me, I will be sure to share my thoughts with my travel industry contacts and Government business contacts

I would not trust any of the positive reviews or any on line photos of the Motel Bon Soir in Granby, PQ. Both the rooms that we stayed were substandard in cleanliness, water had a strange odor/taste, and no power outlets for our CPAP Machines. Beds were too firm and smaller than we asked for. But the clincher was waking up an infestation of hundreds of dead flies in the bathroom of both rooms. Originally, we were staying and paid for 2 rooms for 2 nights, but checked out after the first night. Even after explaining the issues with both rooms, and unwilling to stay the second night, the manager refused to refund just the already paid for second night (this is the first time that I am disputing the credit card charge for a motel stay). The lesson that I’ve learned from this experience is to inspect the room before you check in, and if acceptable, only commit one night at a time is you can.
