The location of the Kasba Bab Ourika is spectacular. One has to make an effort from Ourika village, about 3km dirt road, but it's definitely worth it. Wonderful views onto High Atlas and the surrounding hills. We had a little lunch up there which was ok. There are huge gardens with many different retreat possibilities, pool, lounges. A very nice...

The hotel is positioned to have the most exquisite views of the High Atlas mountains. The rooms are well appointed and spacious. The staff are anxious to make you comfortable and even built a fire in the fireplace in my room to take the chill off the cool January night. The grounds are extensive with a beautiful pool and terraces...

Suffice it to say that it would be enough to come all the way to Morocco/Marrakesh to experience the exquisite beauty, location and spirit of this hate. Everything from the beautifully appointed rooms, to the exceptional aesthetic, the responsive and kindest staff, and particularly the landscape and the surrounding scenery make this more like a convent retreat than a commercial...

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days before Christmas and we cannot say enough good things about it. The location is stunning (views of the High Atlas were incredible), amenities are fabulous and the food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is outstanding. In addition, kasbah staff arranged for a local guide to accompany us for 2 days of hiking...

We visited a few days ago for lunch having visited the seven falls. We emailed ahead and were a little late arriving, but the staff were very welcoming and our lunch was superb. The hotel is in a quite remote location and the last couple of miles is a rough road, but our little Dacia hire car made it, just....

Ideal place to relax in mountain air and soak up the glorious natural landscape. Many places to walk or hike, or you might just want to contemplate the breathtaking 360º views as the light changes throughout the day. A lovely place for creative types to think and work off the internet grid. (There is wifi in the reception area if...

We just finished 10 days in Morocco. Our first stay was at Casbah Bab Ourika. We had a great time. Though newly built, it is an elegant, rustic and lovely hotel that is serene and timeless. Spices greet you in your room and there are cozy common spaces with fireplaces and candles. The food is simple and delicious. We had...

A surprising gem, in the middle of nowhere, and with a drive up mountain that requires solid 4x4 driving. The very rural scenes along that dirt road create mixed feelings as to what Kasba Bab Ourika would be, resulting in a great surprise if the door opens. Great rooms, very kind staff, and a brilliant blend of Arab and Berber...

We spent the last 2 days of a Moroccan trip at Kasbah Bab Ourika. First off, every single person who works there is just thoughtful, kind and will go out of their way to make sure that you have whatever you might want. The rooms are very nice. The lunch buffet on a saturday was really one of the best...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bab Ourika perches majestically on a hilltop at the apex of the Ourika Valley, guarding the gateway to the snow-capped Atlas Mountains – yet it is only 45 minutes from Marrakech’s International airport. With 360 degree panoramic views, this innovative new hotel receives warm sunlight all day, ending in spectacular sunsets. From its unique eyrie-like position it offers a birds eye view of the Atlas, of traditional Berber villages and of the lush river valley below. The Kasbah is one of the most eco-friendly hotels in Morocco; constructed principally from rammed earth, the traditional Berber building technique, it seems almost to have grown out of the rocks beneath. The thick walls provide such good insulation that air-conditioning is unnecessary. Solar panels provide hot water for the hotel and and the underfloor heating in the dining and bar area. Soon a biodigester will provide electricity and compost not only for the hotel but also for the village below. ... more   less
